I haven't followed this progression much, but seeing the picture of the parademon up above, what if they went the way Star Wars did with their Geonosis people and use the plastic wings instead of molded? It'd probably be cheaper for them, but less what we want.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
It looks neat overall. I would have to wait for more pictures of course. But I definitely am not a fan of the price or that half of the figures I don't need. So I'll likely look to bricklink the few figures I do need, which will still cost too much. Alfred looks great. Very vintage Green Hornet. The vehicle itself looks really interesting. Better than most of the other vehicles, but since they are more affordable I'll stick with those I guess. -
Brilliant! I don't know much about these older Ninja sets, but I can see the likeness quite well. Even the roses/plants seem to capture the greenery the original set was supposed to convey. The rockwork is really clever and I don't think my mind can understand how to build in that style. Your MOC takes the cake for sure. Good luck in the contest!

I was not into LEGO when the Ninja sets were available, so I always forget all about these sets. This seems to capture the original and add in so much more. I had to go to brickset just to see images of what set you were trying to rebuild, but side by side I can definitely see the likeness and can see your MOC is superior. Good luck in the contest. Is this on classic castle?

^^ That's funny you say that because I'd like to see the Florist fleshed out a bit more as its own building. Granted I just MOC'd a florist last summer and I'd take mine over this official version, but I still like how theirs turned out. I actually don't particularly care for the turret building. I love medium nougat, but I don't love the tiled look here.

Iron Man 3 posters a few years ago were not folded. Granted, I was in Chicago on business and they gave me free posters, yet I had nowhere to put them so they got crumpled on the way home. Oh well. But usually, from what I've seen, they are folded. Especially easy to mail out in a mailer instead of trying to mail a tube. They need to maximize profits somehow.
-
So I'm confused. You can't blink and you can't look at them? I've never been able to get into the show, but I've only attempted the Christopher Eccleston series and that was horrible. Anyway, the MOCs look great. You seem to have captured the scenes quite well and I can see you love the series very much. Kudos.

Looking at the Panther Deville, it does look like a longer car, but definitely the right proportions to make it wider/shorter would be interesting to see.

Incredible. I love seeing MCM remakes and this takes the cake. The neo-classic space works really well here. I really like the missile load. Thanks for sharing.
-
Brilliant. You captured the essence quite well in LEGO form. The flaps work great for the doors. The angle works nicely. I always enjoy seeing your car builds. They fit in well with the modulars. I should look into doing this for my own buildings. Although I have tons of wheels, but never the right looking wheels for these style of cars. Thanks for sharing.

I prefer the older version, mostly because of the shaping. The visor is a nice play feature, but I can't say I use it too frequently. I think I would prefer the new one if it was tapered a little more toward the neck, but then again it might be difficult to attach. I'll wait and see how it plays out, but I'm sure they will use both, since both have different uses.
-
This looks very interesting. I had thought about converting that set into something more "realistic" also and less play feature-y, but since I don't need another Batman and I already have Penguin with the batcave, I felt this set was unnecessary. Your modification makes me question my choice now. darn you! But I like the nice clean lines. I do like the white-black two tone of the original, but this has a lot of charm to it. The vehicle is still way too big for my city, which is the downside of the Joker car too. That thing is ginormous. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.

Very clever. Short of adding in some wall art, I think this is very well done. I love the shelf and the display of different memorabilia. The computer and chair is very clever too.
-
Brilliant. I always struggle building in different scales than minifigure, but this is incredible. Everything seems so lifelike. I don't love the M:Tron printed tile, but I understand there isn't a lot of availability. The oven and hood look amazing. And even the little gatorade (I assume) is clever. I hadn't thought of that. Keep up the good work.

Batman Batcave MOC (Not another, but sadly this one has to go)
TheLegoDr replied to CollectaGatherer's topic in LEGO Licensed
Brilliant! It looks like a lot of fun details here. I would love to call it my own. I am in the process of making a batcave with Wayne manor on top. My fear is going too high. Yours works well since it is only a cave. But I like the platforms. The wires and computer works well. I don't think I'll add lighting, but it works really well. I just don't want to modify any pieces or use anything non-LEGO. Good luck selling it. I'm sure you will have plenty of interested parties. -
[MOC] The Lord of the Rings- The Battle of Helm's Deep
TheLegoDr replied to KevFett2011's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Brilliant! I had wanted to build a micro scale version of this to go with my micro Barad Dur and Orthanc. But this looks really promising and inspirational. My projects got put on hold, but maybe I will have to dive back into them. Clever use of the uruks. I hadn't thought to add in people. The shaping is well done and it looks the part at this scale. Keep up the good work.- 7 replies

I see a Shaggin Wagon in my future. Thanks for sharing the puppy parade.

Overall pretty decent. The colors work well together. The interior has some interesting details. With the front elephant tail pieces, it looks like the door won't be able to open. Something to consider.

Instantly I was going to ask how you get to the back also. But if you have no reason to get back there I guess it isn't a big deal in terms of play value. I keep my things accessible for the daughter to play with. Also, are those fighter jets going to bomb everyone in the middle?? :)
-
The ScarJo pose is effective, but shouldn't she be turned slightly so you can see her butt. You know, her fighting skills are so impressive she has to show her butt at any angle she can... Great build otherwise. It seems very fitting for the missions you described. And the name fits. Clever. Although I rather like Cotton Balls. (Cotton Weary from Scream, so Cotton is a name!)

[Review] 6973 Deep Freeze Defender from Ice Planet 2002
TheLegoDr replied to delta7890's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thank you for the review. It's always fun to look back at sets from my youth. I unfortunately missed this set, but I have all of the cheap sets from the Ice Planet theme. Great sets. The color scheme sets it apart. Someone in our LUG actually built a huge Ice Planet MOC for a show. I haven't seen it in a while, but I wonder if they plan to add to it. I thought about bricklinking this, but then I ended up modifying it to make it a M:Tron version. It looks great in any color scheme it seems. Thanks again.- 10 replies

I like the nazi soldier and German rebel the most. What parts were used? I wouldn't mind looking into making my own sometime. Thanks for sharing!

Very well done. I've been wanting to build my own space lab/base/hangar and this is definitely something to look at for inspiration. The walls have a nice clean look (this may be my hardest part to figure out, smooth with some detail or over detail). The reactor is very clever. I'm too much of a purist to use anything non-LEGO, but it works to great effect here. The facial expressions add a lot to the build, but for some reason I love using the classic yellow smiley in builds. Too much nostalgia for me I guess. Keep up the great work!

Now this is how to modify that set. Granted, it still looks a bit off being that tall. There is something about that building that doesn't add height as easily. But I love the extra bits on the right side and the outdoor patio. Most people just make it taller and call it a day, but this is modifying it to call it your own. I had thought about modifying this set, but I guess it didn't occur to me to make it a 32 wide style. Keep up the good work.

It looks much more fleshed out and complete. A worthy addition to the Batverse. Although I'd prefer to see still photos instead of videos. Everyone does videos these days. I want to be able to stare at the details instead of trying to pause it. Either way, thanks for sharing.
