I'm also hoping for an affordable price. Lots of great pieces, even if the theme isn't good. We will wait and see.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've never heard that before. Not sure why a bobby would have that. I hadn't thought of the welder's face. I would assume sweat involved, which would be nice to have some more variety. I wonder if the mech will have something else on the other side. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion

Those are great! I don't like the Blacktron mech as much as I originally did, so I'll only pick up one of him. I guess I don't understand what 1337 means...the joke is lost on me. -
I'm just not loving that Flash figure. I'm hoping that helmet is a prototype. The rest of him looks great, although I missed that he had red hair. I'm okay with more gingers in mainstream media though. If it wasn't for Harry Potter, there wouldn't be much of us out there. I'm sure I'll pick up the whole wave, like always. But I don't have to like it...

Most likely they would keep a hold placed on it if you have to contact them to cancel/proceed. More than likely they will contact you again requesting you to contact them again. Also, I think this website is for 18+ only, so you might want to check into that too.

I guess I must be the only one to think Azog looks ..that spacing between the molded head piece and the torso doesn't sit too well for me. The expression is okay, albeit a bit blank. I'd think he'd have a little more life in his eyes... I realize he is a main antagonist and I would assume he would be in a set sometime, but I'm not very upset about not getting this exclusive. As for Laketown, the set itself looks great. I don't like the price though. I will definitely wait for a sale. But the figures look nice and I could always use those pieces for something.

I guess I don't pay attention to ratings. I remember watching Batman/Returns and The Indiana Jones movies as a kid, easily age 7...odd. Granted I watched R movies from an early age too. Must be why I don't pay attention to it. I think of Lone Ranger or Super Heroes, I think of children wanting to watch the movie, that's why I made the connection earlier. I guess if it isn't for children to begin with, then cannibalism can be present in the movie, although it didn't really make much sense to have that scene in the movie. I don't know what it really did for the plot, other than make him more vile...

I like the set overall. The figures look nice and different than what I'm used to. I actually am okay with more dark brown pieces and those dark green windows . I was going to bricklink more of them anyway. I don't own any Viking stuff, so the boat is neat for me, although I doubt I will put it together. If what they say about the price is true, that is unexpected. I'd think they are either not showing something to accommodate that price, or the original price is misquoted. Either way, I'll have to wait for a sale then. I found the Warg set last year for 30% off a few weeks after it was released, maybe I can luck out again this year.

It seems they are giving them out randomly and since they didn't have a huge press release for it, I wouldn't think it is exclusive. I'd think it would be similar to the Bilbo give-away that was also in another set. It is hard to think that they would release a mold for a figure that will be given away at a convention without considering how much they could spread out that mold among sets. I don't think he looks that great, but if he comes in a set, I will pick him up. I don't see myself paying out the nose for him though.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion

I hadn't realized it was in black that often. The red-brown is the rare version. I like the inclusion of strawberry ice cream, since it has been a while since that color existed (~10 years). -
Should Friends have it's own Sub-Forum?
TheLegoDr replied to LegoCityMann's topic in Forum Information and Help
But Friends is LEGO's IP, not a license, so it wouldn't belong in the Licensed area. I'm sure the moderators discussed this when Friends first came available and Town (IMO also) is the best place for them since they are town related with their shops and houses, etc. I check out almost all of the forums, so I'd come across it anyway, but I think Town is the best fit for what Friends represents. Plus, it adds variety to this forum. -
I am impressed to say the least. Ollivander's is instantly recognizable. I will definitely borrow some ideas to copy it. I wanted to make a more accurate large scale version of it, but I may end up doing Diagon Alley in miniature form to save space...decisions, decisions... The Pumpkin Factory is instantly recognizable also, if you've seen the MOC. I have, so the moment you put pumpkin factory in the title, I knew I was in for a treat and you didn't disappoint. Great job on the awnings and the window effect due to color options. I can't wait to see more. I love miniature scaled builds.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the pictures! It's great to see this series. For some reason I get more excited to see these than a lot of other themes... Onto my thoughts: I will automatically get a complete set, that's just the "norm." But even if it wasn't, I still think I would pick up a complete set. While this is not the best series, it still has good variety, plus no major army builders for me, unlike that revolutionary soldier from last series... I actually really like that barbarian, so I will definitely pick up one or two. The scarecrow looks decent, but I'd want one more menacing to scare off those crows...granted, he does need to be kid friendly I guess. I love the hair and skirt on the bavarian girl..but does this mean we will see her undergarments like the bagpiper? The Blacktron Space mech is actually a lot better than I originally thought and will pick up a few of him, and I'm not that into space. The tiki mask is a great update from the original Islander theme, so this will fit right in. Good call TLG. The gingerbread man is neat, but I probably only need a few of him for a Christmas house display. The elf is neat, but I don't like that face. Is that the same teddy as the new winter village? This one has a bowtie on. The yeti is cool, but I probably will just get the standard one. I assumed it was a single headpiece though. The mountain climber doesn't do much for me, but I need him for the set. The rope is cool. The welder mask and bottle are both really cool. I don't have much use for him, but I like the pieces. The female scientist is great. I can always use more smart females in my city. I like the use of that color for latex gloves. The Blues Brother is awesome. He is a must buy. Even though she is in all yellow, I'll definitely get at least 2 of the waitress. That head and hair are awesome. My wife will go crazy for the cat eyes. And is that strawberry new? The grandma is neat, but the best part is the cat. Yes, it looks blocky, but I'll take the variety. The constable is awesome. I wouldn't mind getting a few of him, just for the helmet alone. And the lady robot is okay, but I'll get a few I'm sure. I try to buy at least one set for me and at least all of the females for my daughter. I am thankful there aren't any army builders in this series since I spent way too much on the last series. -
I am okay with the batmobile, but I definitely don't like that orange cockpit shield. I'm not sure why they would use that color. It clashes horribly with the rest of the aesthetic. But thanks for the picture. Hopefully we'll see some more in HD to get a better idea of what we are getting.

Thanks for the replies! I am really new to the train world, so any information will be helpful. I did read somewhere about which pieces of PF to pick up, but I hadn't considered the XL motor, only the train motor. I will have to pick up some track, hopefully that set will be available for a while. I think I should do something like a normal train and then just have different Christmas moments/decorations throughout instead of making it too crazily colored. Should I go bigger than the Constitution in terms of scale, or is that one about right for height/width?

I only end up displaying some of the more prominent figures: my licensed collections (SW, HP, Super Heroes, LOTR/Hobbit, POTC) and then the CMF. All of my old figures are in a box together though. And then I have all of my castle figures separated into their own armies on display... But ultimately I buy sets for the figures, unless the set itself is also worthwhile, then I may buy it for both the set and the figures. But usually just the figures.

I have definitely got a lot of people interested in LEGO, but that isn't to say they want to go out and buy/build sets. But they say they never had interest in it as children, but now that they see what I can do with the bricks (and the sets that are released) they are much more impressed and much more interested in the idea of LEGO. I did get a few of them hooked on the LEGO video games, so that's a start. And then their kids got into LEGO through playing with my kid...the infection spreads quickly...

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
TheLegoDr replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
As many problems as the Black Pearl had, I'd hate to have "another" Black Pearl ship released. They should release something new to keep people interested. I saw the Black Pearl on clearance all around me, so at least here not a lot of people wanted it (or they just ordered too many thinking there was more of a demand). Plus, it was the Black Friday deal last year or two years ago at Target. I know that doesn't help everyone that missed out on it, but for those who did already purchase it, it would be a turn off. The sad thing is, it would probably be loads better than the initial release which would be more upsetting also. Not to mention having dozens of Jack Sparrows walking around.. As far as future sets go, I would like to see some early movie sets again, just to help develop the theme as a whole. Not that there are a lot more places they could use that they didn't already. I thought the initial wave had a good mix of old with new, granted I was lost completely on the new sets since I didn't see the movie until months after it was released on dvd. -
I do agree with you Blondie-Wan about durability and longevity. I'd much prefer if my Black Seas Barracuda sails were crisper and cleaner (of which they would be if plastic instead of cloth), but that isn't how it played out. However, I do wonder how brittle the plastic sails will become over time. As much as I love displaying my ships, my IFS, QAR and BP all are missing their sails because I don't want them to get dirty/dusty/fray... maybe plastic would be better..

Great entry for sure. I love the work in progress feel to it all. The studs exposed works really well. The figure placement is very fitting. And a fun story to go along with it.

Love the green plates angled for the hill. I was trying to do that with one of my MOCs recently, but gave up since I didn't have that many green plates. Keep up the great work!

That new wookie mold is great! That is the only appealing part of the set as far as I can tell. I don't know what that vehicle even is since I don't pay that close of attention to the wars of stars...

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Seventeen sets does sound like a lot, but they can achieve this since they will have multiple themes across those 17 sets. That will capture a lot of interest among a large variety of fans. As stated above, a wild west set, pirates, castle, city, space, licensed, unique to the movie...the list goes on. Tell me, there aren't LEGO fans that fill those categories. With that said, 17 at once would be a bit shocking only because of the shelf space needed and to make room for other themes. Plus, if they did cover that many themes, I would end up buying a lot of those 17....not good for my wallet...- 2,626 replies

If I'm not mistaken, the Riddler's head looks different too. Granted once I put together Funhouse that first Christmas it came out, I haven't looked at it since, so I might be wrong. I do like the batmobile, although I want to add fenders to make it bulkier/more intimidating I guess...I don't know why. The Flash wins hands down.

From a business standpoint, ^ Phoxtane ^ hit it on the head. Durability, plain and simple. From an AFOL standpoint, cloth is better. With that said, I just took out my old Black Seas Barracuda sails that have been sitting in my old instruction box for 20+ years and although definitely not as crisp or clean as they once were, aren't fraying as badly as expected. And also, the most recent ships from Pirates (IFS) and POTC (Queen Anne's Revenge and Black Pearl) all had cloth sails. I was unaware that the new sail barge had plastic sails. That is another knock against it..maybe I will end up bricklinking the figures after all...
