Brilliant! I loved Dennis growing up. He was such a menace for sure. That head works great for Mr. Wilson, although I'd expect him to have hair, or at least the comb-over piece from the CMF line. But that head is brilliant with his stern expression in the background of each build. Haha Very clever idea for the slingshot. I hadn't thought of that before. Does it fit in there okay or did you modify it at all? I've seen some people cut flex tubing to help make the fit a bit tighter.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
That brings up the problem with the license. Is it really even split between the two companies? If so, Marvel really needs to limit itself for what sets get made and DC can go all out since they've released nothing yet. Marvel has a ton of material coming out in the near future and DC is still sitting idle. I love both DC and Marvel, but the actually achieve all of the figures/sets I would want would require a lot more than 6:6 sets.. As far as my guesses, I'd assume something related to F4 to help tie in with the game (even though the release dates are different) and I'd hope for something Thor related. Spider-man always seems to be a seller, so hard to avoid one of them. Batman is a constant seller, so I always welcome more of him if they bring out some new figures which I would hope for Batgirl (first and foremost) and hopefully a Nightwing. -
Great build! The house is quite lovely. I think it fits well within the context you are going for. I'd hate to walk up those stairs every day just to get into my house...The working garage door is neat. And I love the pillars at the bottom of the stairs. I may have to borrow that idea for something. I don't know what yet, but they look awesome. I love that car too. I need to copy that sometime. You are the king of vehicles! Keep up the great work.

I do like the overall interior. The main level is perfect. Great use of space with the counter/kitchen area. The seats work well too. Next, tile the flooring . The upper levels are a bit crammed, as expected. Good job squeezing everything in though. I'm still slowly working on mine, so my interiors will be finalized sometime. I may have to borrow some of your main level details with that kitchen area.

Nice recreation. I like how it looks very much. I may have to copy it myself.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I thought they started to outline the pieces needed so you could tell the colors better? There definitely are times when the black and the DBG look similar, but if you think about it, whenever you see DBG and it looks black, just assume it is DBG because the black pieces look even darker in the instructions. Everytime I think it is black, I look for another black piece on the instruction to compare against. I really like this other website for instructions. It is just MOCs that people have build and made instructions for, but it grays out the entire build other than the new pieces, so you can more easily identify which pieces are needed and where they go. The colors really pop against an all gray backdrop. And I'm hoping those arches drop in price. I originally was going to mod my version to use DBG instead of dark blue, but I may have to go back to the original set color scheme. -
I agree about the lampposts. I do wish there was some more consistency. Although I've liked all of the other lampposts before this one. I think this one looks too simple and "cheap." The others were more ornate. I loved the Post Office one, if it were only a little taller. But I love the black single piece lamppost that they use the white version for in the Modulars. I don't like that they changed that lamppost from 6 indents to 4. The new version looks terrible compared to the old version. I guess I'll just mod the lamppost again, if I ever get around to rebuilding them all and displaying them.

Well, if you think about Cafe Corner, there wasn't much left of that sidewalk either. You almost need to back the building up more to accommodate the eating area outside and still allow walking area. Granted, in our Historic Downtown area, the sidewalks are really narrow in most places. You have to walk single file a lot of the time to get around all of the outdoor eating areas.

This is a cute little build. I think you captured the feel of the set well. I like the garage door the most. Good idea for a tree and not something I've seen before. I can't wait to see more. But I think that scale works well for what you are doing.

Great build so far. I'm liking that path/trail. Very organic looking. The rockwork works really well too. I like the transition from the light to the dark gray. The large tree works really well here too. I did add up the total...And no castle yet? But it is smart to keep a running total of the whole build. Some of these large impressive builds add up I'm sure. Best of luck!

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
TheLegoDr replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for posting the official images. The car looks nice, other than the hood. I think in order to customize it for each one, why not make the primary version better and then remove it to make the other versions? The figures look great and Marty especially is spot-on! I will definitely pick one up. -
My daughter wanted to watch some Harry Potter tonight. She chose Chamber of Secrets and Goblet of Fire. So we had a little marathon. It helped motivate me to work on my Hogwarts mini-MOC. I might put in the Hobbit to fall asleep to.

It looks like the Barbossa torso from the Fountain of Youth POTC set. I agree that your figures look great though. Lots of character. As far as how the theme is doing..I haven't a clue. Only one place near me has a few of the smaller sets, but otherwise I haven't seen them around. Most of the places near me only recently got the Lone Ranger sets even though I got them at the LEGO store back in April, if that says anything...Maybe my stores just don't get much. Have fun with your buying/building. I wish I could be excited about this theme, but I can't get past my Kingdoms love. (On second thought, I'm glad I'm not into this theme, I wouldn't have any money left!)

That will help immensely! Congrats Jersey Brick Guy... that is quite the feat. I'm still far behind on my modulars because I never order pieces for them. I have so many other projects ahead of them and I buy so many sets, it doesn't leave much money for my modulars.

I'm glad to see official pictures. I think for overall size and what you get, the price is fair, but I was hoping for less, maybe around $80-90. I liked the cheaper models. They provided a great small set purchase with lots of charm and whimsy. The Cottage was great looking, but a tad large compared to the rest. This fits in size wise, I think, but the price puts it off a bit. I am super excited for more dark blue arches. That should help out the people (like me) trying to rebuild older modulars. But I'm always open to more dark blue pieces in general. The horses are beautiful and the gold saddles are icing. I'm a tad sad (and happy) about the green princess top from the Kingdoms Joust. I ordered her separately since I didn't buy that set, but now I'd have got her this way too. Granted I do have the dress slope and this doesn't have that. Either way, I will definitely get one. The question is do I get it in October for double points or wait until Black Friday timing for the next holiday special give-away set....

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
True, people need to remember they only sell for what people will pay. Unfortunately, plenty of people are willing to pay these ridiculous prices for them (and Mr. Gold). It baffles me, but it isn't my decision. As for the figures, they are neat and all, but not my cup of tea this year. And I've seen other reference materials, Green Arrow does look like the Arrow tv show also. I guess maybe a hybrid between them? I have no idea as I don't pay much attention to new comics or Green Arrow in general. I'll still hope for the other version of Arrow. -
Thanks for the review. I do own multiples of this set when I saw it at TRU last Thanksgiving. Thankfully they had the BOGO 50% off sale running, so I picked up a few. The set itself is decent with some useful pieces. The green hood is neat, but I would have preferred Elven hair instead. I would have bought a lot more had it had the hair piece instead of a hood. I highly recommend it, but probably not at the inflated after-market prices. Especially since you could get basically the same figure in the Barrel Escape set, but with the hair!

^I haven't seen that movie, but the US has a specific order of who takes the leadership role if the previous commander is indisposed. This lists them all, if that answers anything for you.
-
They still released LEGO cannibals though. The set was even called The Cannibal Escape....I'm pretty sure kids are aware that people eat other people. EDIT: Plus the bunnies were cannibalistic in this movie too. But I do agree that the actual eating of a heart was not placed appropriately in a movie that they expect children to see, and a Disney movie on top of it. Very odd. Although, now we can use the Davy Jone's heart 1x1 round brick in a set with Butch. We could re-enact the whole scene.

I'm amazed at how many people aren't familiar with the show, considering it is such a huge cult hit. I was luckily enough to watch it when it first aired and have loved it ever since. With the latest season, you have nailed it. I'd love to see more AD from you. You seem to know your stuff.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't like the idea of multiple exclusives that I can't attain (coming from a figure collector); however, after re-looking at these figures multiple times, I'm not as upset about them as I was initially. If they were all in sets, I'd take every last one of them. But I don't think I'll go out of my way for any of these particular figures. I think the Spider-man suit looks way better than what we have, but at the same time, we already have one, so for someone who really isn't into Spider-man, I'm not too fussed about not getting another version of him. As far as Green Arrow, that isn't how I would have pictured him anyway, so I'm not drooling over him. Which, as others have stated, it is a different version of him, so maybe they would still release one of him in a later set. I picture more a cross between the CMF Robin Hood and one of the Warriors Three from Thor.. I am hoping for Batgirl also. I will definitely pick up two (one for me, one for my daughter since that is all she asks about). I'd love a Supergirl also, but who knows. I love Batman and since I missed out on the original wave, I'd love to get the updated figures of all the villains, but I am also hoping for more variety in the Super Hero world for this next year. Granted, I had never heard of Beetle or Nova or Iron Fist, so maybe variety means nothing to me after all. I mostly just wanted Doom and now I want a F4 set and more X-Men if possible. -
St. Gwydre's Church - Dark Isle Saga: Chapter 1, Part 7
TheLegoDr replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
I think I like the blinds on the upper level the most and then the glass windows on the lower level. Brilliantly done, yet it seems so simple. The front covered gate is really neat too. Plus, I enjoyed reading the story. Keep up the good work. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I still think they may release the Thor sets (if there are any) for the winter wave, which would coincide with the dvd/blu-ray release similar to how TDKR set was last year as opposed to the theatrical release. Although, it would be best to sneak them in before the Christmas holiday. As for Batman, he is just bankable anyway. I don't think he needs a lot of media buzz to get his name out there. GOTG, on the other hand, I've never heard of until they talked about doing a movie. I still don't know who they are, but I saw a picture of them once. I highly doubt they would release sets based on them, although I'm sure the figures would be cool. Isn't there a giant tree like guy and then a small animal? It might be weird to get minifigures of them, but maybe not. I would imagine more Batman, if only one more set, and then more Avenger-related material since they are more well known at this given time. I'd love more x-men and a F4 set because I like variety instead of constant rehashes, but I'm sure LEGO knows what they are doing. People are getting upset about the rare new figure, yet their sales are still going through the roof.. I think that says something. -
I haven't looked at that movie poster before, so there are a lot of goodies in there. I don't know what this one will look like, but there are a lot of rooftops that I might want to try to build into a modular of my own. Thanks for sharing.
