  1. Great build! Very tall mountain indeed. I love the concept of the mountain, but I absolutely love the doors on the bottom built into the mountain. The guards and coloring work well together here. I like seeing a large group of Elves in one place. Keep up the great work!
  2. Those two sets are both listed on the US retiring soon page too at S@H, so definitely confirmed they will be leaving soon. Odd that Orc Forge would go away before some of the other sets, but I guess since it was an exclusive, maybe not a lot of people bought it?
  3. I guess to further add what I stated above, it is a little trickier this year since LOTR and Castle both exist. Before we only had the one castle related theme out at a time, but by having 2 now, it gives a lot more variety and choices. I love the LOTR line, so of course I'm picking those up. But then it opens up the same question, would I still want to buy Castle 2013 if LOTR didn't exist? I'd still have to lean towards no. Just interesting how many people love this theme and how many don't like it. That's why LEGO makes so much money, there is something for everyone.
  4. I think that is a tough call. On the one hand, if the movie does poorly and not a lot of people see it, they may not want the sets similar to PoP. However, with this being a new Western theme, I think it might hold its own even if the movie does flop. Westerns aren't as popular as they once were, but it does bring some fresh prints and ideas to the western world of LEGO which has been sorely lacking for many years. And since I already have all of the sets, I wouldn't need them on discount...
  5. That's true. I would expect slightly higher prices on some of those figures due to the time of release. I would expect Leia to go higher than $12, but then again I thought more people would be clamoring for her slave variation in the new Jabba set, but she hasn't even been hitting $10 on ebay. Max Rebo has been going really cheaply too, so I don't know. I doubt the scout troopers will fetch too high of a price, but since it is a new coloring and more accurate from my understanding, they might hit a few dollars more. As great as the figure line-up is in that set, I'm disappointed there aren't more exclusives to it at that price. Granted the Haunted House set had 2 exclusives and it was cheaper, so I guess ~5 is good.
  6. That's really cool. I love seeing mosaics. I wish I had the time (and pieces) and talent to accomplish one. This looks almost identical to the source picture, so job well done there.
  7. Looking good! I love the official set and have been wanting to do my own small version sometime. This fits it perfectly. Keep up the good work!
  8. That poster is a lot bigger than I expected. Granted Orthanc itself is a lot bigger than expected too. You can visualize 28 inches, but until you actually see it, you will feel you underestimated.
  9. I think it also falls under how active you are when the sets are released. I was just coming out of my Dark Ages when Kingdoms was going strong, so I picked those up willingly/lovingly. Yet, this new theme just isn't doing it for me. I wonder if I was just coming out of my Dark Ages now if I would be tempted to pick these up due to my love of castle, or if I'd still pass like I am now. When I came out from the DA, I didn't have any interest (and still don't) of the fantasy era, even though I enjoy fantasy-esque castle themes. But I wouldn't go back and pick any of them up in the aftermarket, even at normal retail price. Odd..
  10. The scale alone is impressive. Add in the details and forget about it. This is borderline ridiculous. If that wasn't impressive enough, just look at their other sets. Many large scale impressive builds. I really like the LOTR one also.
  11. Bit the bullet and bought the Daily Bugle set on yoyo since they were having a 17.76% off sale. It was the cheapest I've seen it with that. I didn't particularly care for the set, but every time I've added up the figures individually it would cost me about $39 including shipping (that is without Spider-man). So I thought it made more sense to buy the set.
  12. That's easy...Not that you would choose any of them though. Girls: Ginevra from Harry Potter Eowyn from LOTR Phoenix (Jean Gray) or Ororo for Storm, granted I would prefer Aurora personally Harlene Quinzell (Harley Quinn) Boys: Peregrine from LOTR If I think of more, I will add to it. Good luck! Congrats!
  13. There are a lot of substitutions that can be made with some of those pieces. The big difference is the mold was changed after it was produced for that set, so hard to find pieces become more valuable. If you were trying to sell, it is probably best to keep it original unless you disclose that some pieces were switched. If it is for your viewing pleasure, I'd go for the cheaper alternative.
  14. I agree that the CW eyes work well for Maul just based on that appearance, but I can't help and see the old Indian faces with the noses when I look at that figure. I assume it is just where the tattoo is on his face, but it resembles a nose to me and they looked horrible on the old Indian figures. I do really like the new polybag Maul. He is still sealed though, so I can't enjoy him fully. I usually try to get two of each of them, one for display, one sealed. But I couldn't justify swinging $20 twice. Unless the price has gone down since I bought one.
  15. Interesting choice of colors. I've never really seen them used together before. It is visually striking, but I don't think I'll copy that color scheme anytime soon . But great castle overall. I love the angles and layout you used. I love that roof shape of the large tower. I think I am going to have to borrow that idea sometime. The greenery works well here. How do people come up with these names for places? Keep up the great work.
  16. The island looks great. I love the statue and the figure placement. I wonder if it wouldn't have worked better to have a tourist on the spit instead of the pig? Keep up the great work!
  17. Great temple. I like the groundwork too, very fitting for a "jungle-esque" temple. Have you been watching too much Jake and the Neverland Pirates to come up with Tik Tok croc...My daughter has been obsessed with that show lately. Keep up the great work.
  18. This is great! Very fitting for what one would expect of Kaliphlin. It looks busy enough, but welcoming/quiet enough too. I like the middle fountain and the trees too!
  19. Those bubbles are brilliant. If I didn't know it was LEGO, I would say that oil is bubbling. Great job. Great sand around it too. The black and tan play off each other well. I should look into this..
  20. Great bridge. Looks very rickety! I'd hate to walk across that, I'd be sacrificing myself... *chirp, chirp* Otherwise, great build. Great story. I like what I am seeing.
  21. Great build. I like the tree design and the grave area. I hadn't considered using hands before for any of those purposes, so well done there!
  22. Wasn't "Fantasy Era" technically called Castle? So why wouldn't this just be Castle 2 or 2.0? Of course, we should wait and see how the future shows for marketing purposes, but if LEGO calls it Castle, then why shouldn't we?
  23. Good job. I like the story here. The idea is a good one. I'd almost want to see a MOC with the witches fighting back, maybe use some Force lightning from Star Wars. That'd be neat to see. I really need to start working on some stories because I have ideas for MOCs, just never get around to developing them. Keep up the good work.
  24. I like the shield design the most. I hadn't considered doing that before. I have lots of those brown triangles with no use for them. I know what I will be doing now. Thanks! I haven't played that game before, or seen stills from it, so I don't know much about it. But the overall MOC looks great! I've seen that wall technique used before as a ground, but only once as a wall. It looks good, but I still think I prefer it as a ground. Keep up the good work!
  25. That looks great! Are those the old flame pieces attached to each other? I wonder if (how) they would do it if they released their own set since that mold doesn't exist anymore. Great job though. Looks great in the dark.
