@Ethan0080 You definatelly have to send me a pic when Nakazato's R32 is completed! Actually I attempted to build the AE86 from Initial D some time ago, but I abandoned the project. I didn't get very far: Bricksafe I love the initial D anime, but the AE86 on its own doesn't look that good to me next to other icons like the RX-7, GT-R or NSX. I am afraid i'm not really into hatchbacks. It seems like I can't build a car like this if I dont really love it. Right now I am working on a Nissan 180SX Type X, and there are so many other cars I would still like to attempt...

[TC19] Fat Chop 1200
Gray Gear replied to JRS86's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@johnnym It does look like a very useful piece, but sadly I dont know its origins either. My guess would be COBI, but it could very well be something else. -
I also like the explaining bit. But I dont get the point of this gearbox. It is way too big even for 1:8 cars. You cannot build a gearbox without considering the size constraints of the Model. Imo manual gearboxes with more that 2 gear rings should not be placed in the center tunnel, they take up too much interior space. They require some kind of linkage system from the gear lever to the gearbox.

Cant wait to see what you'll come up with Will you do Nakazato's R32 or the Shinigami R32?

[MOC] Audi RS6 Avant

The ammount of technic functions inside is as impressive as the bodywork is terrible I think you should stick to boxy cars, that Pickup truck you made looked quite good despite your dislike of doing bodywork. This one on the other hand... I am sorry. -

Luckily there are other ways to source Bricks. If I had to pay LEGO prices for all my bricks I wouldn't be able to afford this hobby... -
Oh thank you I do think the "life of a brick" for the average Dots brick is worth teling tho: 1. Get delivered to the store, and stay on the shelf until the 50% discount hits 2. Get bought by a Mom shopping groceries to shut the whining child up 3. Get assembled once, then rot in the junk drawer for eternity (Please don't take this too seriously )

Building instructions for the Skyline GT-R are finally available on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62624/Gray_Gear/nissan-skyline-r32-gtr/#details I have resolved most of the parts issues, so now only very few "non-LEGO" Bricks are needed to build this MOC! I had to put in 100+ hours of tedious work to finish these instructions, so I am sorry but they arn't free. All the earnigs will be reinvested in new bricks for new MOCs of course

Very good B-Model! The side view does look a little blocky and does not really represent the lines of the real car, but the front and back are made very well! I especialy like the selector ring exhaust tips A 4 speed sequential transmission is not something to write home about, but what to do with 2 selector rings used up for the exhausts right? It seems to work well. The roof mechanism is is working very smoothly and really makes the build special. Well done, and thx for sharing!

Cada does not source from GoBricks. And there were no color issues with this type of connector in red I got from GoBricks. -

Nice one! The overall shape of the body is pretty smooth without any major gaps. The opening rear revealing the engine is very cool. But I think the build looks like an official LEGO Set in a few places... Missing details in the engine bay and that gray panel on the front that is supposed to be some vents. Using a few more small pieces these points could easily be improved. Details created with lots of creativity and passion is what takes most Supercar MOCs way above the soulless shells LEGO is selling imo. -

"slight variations in colors" bro I am partially colorblind (real problems with anything involving red&green) and even I can see some of these are not the same color, so it cant be that "slight" -
Wow that looks very nice! Having 1 Servo per axle is cool as it allows the crane to crab-steer. But isn't 1 XL-Motor a little weak to move such a heavy model? I would have probably went with 1 Servo for both axles and 1 Drive Motor per axle instead. But of course having 2x Drive Motor and 2x Servo would be best

Looks like a lot of fun to play with! The front looks okay, I especially like how that long panel and the wheel arch piece flow together. Very nice. But the rear of the car doesn't look very good imo. The rear wheel arches just dont flow with the rest of the body. I like the lower diffuser/exhaust of the rear bumper, but that weird taillight situation really isn't for me. Thx for sharing -
Wow, very clean! I especially like the detailled exhaust system. The truck instantly reminded me of this video:

I like the look! The working shift lever is my favorite function, very cool. What I dislike is how fragile the model looks from below. There is basically no bracing visible that connects the tracks, and that one lbg 5x7 frame housing the diff is just like floating in there. I think there is a lot that could (and should) be done to increase body rigidity.

Getting started question
Gray Gear replied to timtiptoes's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you dont want to spend a fortune but still want to insist on using original LEGO bricks I would recomment picking up some used sets or used LEGO technic collection to get started. Please dont buy new LEGO technic sets without proper research first. Overpriced and often disappointing. -
I like the turbine on its own, but I must say it does look kinda dumb the way the turbine is blasting straight at the rear tire... I think even tires in the future will catch fire when blasted with the backburner of a massive turbine Maybe I am thinking too complicated here, but I would like it better if the turbine had an outlet on both sides of the tire instead. That way the tire would not get damaged and by adding flaps on the outlet the bike could even control if it should lean left or right

Oh really? No way. Of course I meant that you could swap the Rotor mount and gear to the other side. The other poeple before you got exactly what I meant. But it does seem like they thought a bit what would make sense. Noone is that dumb to think that flipping over the rotor piece itself would make any difference

You do know that is just a random Online shop that has LEPIN in its name but of course no connection to the LEPIN Brand at all. LEPIN is dead.anyways.
