Jack Sassy replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
Agreed, my favourite detail are the cannon ports, would be interesting to see a vessel MOC with such ports. -
REVIEW: 6476261 Monkie Kid 5th Anniversary Cake
Jack Sassy replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I agree. Alas, these sets are a rare find in Europe due to their exclusivity. I imagine there is a similar issue in New Zealand.- 4 replies

This is very interesting, I have never heard, nor thought of dyeing LEGO bricks. From the looks of it, this experiment was a success (not taking into account a new colour for yer hand ). Quite curious how far one could take such an experiment, this opens a new world of possibility. Anyway, thank ye for sharing results with us!

A lovely build! I like how simply elegant she looks. Even though ye mentioned that there isn't much to see inside, is there an interior nonetheless? Also, I did not know about that dragon arch's existence. Good job!

REVIEW: 6476261 Monkie Kid 5th Anniversary Cake
Jack Sassy replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I cannot believe it has already been almost five years since Monkie Kid theme began. And yet I am to purchase a single set from it. Anyhow, a good review!- 4 replies

General Pirates Musings/Chit Chat Thread

I do like the look of the new technique, it better suits the Caribbean waters too. however, the darker one would do better for oceans and such. Either way, I think you should go with the new one. -
[MOC] Disney set 43223 (Bluecoat version)
Jack Sassy replied to KolonialbeamterdeMartinez's topic in Pirate MOCs
Aye, looks lovely! I did imagine what potential those sets could hold for 18th century colonial towns. Ye demonstrated clearly that such attempt is a success. Good job! -
[MOD] Scorpion Tracker (set 60424)

A good rendition! Those figures look good together. Have you tried adding the original hat on this Johnny? -

That be a good idea. I will have to try that someday (perhaps someone else will take an advantage of such technique ). Would love to see it. Aye, I noticed that some years back. Have ye tried using translucent black tiles? Those could create an interesting effect. -
General Pirates Musings/Chit Chat Thread
Jack Sassy replied to Captain Pirate Man's topic in LEGO Pirates
Fortunately, there is a chance to see it next weekend. Not a particularly exciting idea, as it is a frigate MOC, specifically a pirate one. Sadly, that is all the information I can give up about it for now. In the past I have made few smaller MOCs, therefore this project is ambitious in terms of its size and category. It will be a two deck vessel with a brick built hull and (hopefully ) proper rigging using strings. At first I started it out with a hull two studs wider than an official prefab one but over the time I widened it by four more studs (hopefully it will not be too wide and too short). Quite often I appreciate the little details in MOCs (accessories, references and silly scenes), which causes me to include as many details as possible. I don't wish to tell too much, as I still need quite some time to finish this vessel. Sadly I cannot do that. One of the things that trouble me is space. Due to the fact that I live in an apartment, there isn't much space for displays. I have one major display on a spare table, which is a mix of modern and historical, yet it is a disappointment that there is no space for Islanders builds. That sounds exciting, would love to see the final product. Do ye already have some pictures of this technique? It sounds intriguing. -

A good idea. Few days ago I was fortunate enough to watch POTC 2 in the local film theatre, a lovely experience. It also ties in with my inspiration for LEGO Pirates builds. Speaking of which, today I made my first BrickLink order in a longer while. It contains parts needed for my most ambitious project yet, which I have been dragging for the past three years (just realised that three years have already passed since I begun working on it ). Either way, I hope to finish it till the end of this year. Other than all that, lately I have been paying more attention to Islanders themed builds and figures. -
Looks good, a rather versatile piece. I be hoping for a new light nougat version too.

She looks good. I do wonder, how would the ship look should there be added another hull section? To me the new Barracuda seems a tad short for a frigate. I say, go for it (as long as ye have the resources for such a project ), I think that this kind of Pearl could satisfy your need for a new one.- 315 replies

Do ye have a picture available of the said piece?

Gives us an idea what such minifigures released nowadays could look like.

Are these official ones from the video game? Think I prefer older Jack's faces, looks more like the source material compared to this new rendition.

Pirates related photos from LEGOLAND Billund
Jack Sassy replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Pirates
Aye, that be true! Suppose I will have to travel to Denmark sometime soon. I love this one! Those top hats look silly on Islanders' heads, the mountains are well built and Jack running over the bridge is a nice reference. -
I saw it, good work on it. I can hardly recognise the source material which, in this case, is a good thing.

The overall layout reminds me of the research base in general. This almost makes me want to buy and turn that tree house into a new research base... Let us hope Murdoch can do it.

Aye, one could try gluing a knife to the musket. Alas, that would be stuck forever, double clip is a much better solution, even if it is not from LEGO.
