  1. Funnily enough, some five years ago I had the same thought, a UCS Black Pearl. It sounds wonderful. Only trouble is, I have grown tired of high piece count and price LEGO sets. As detailed and lovely as they are, not all things require such treatment. To me it takes away from creating MOC builds. I would rather this Pearl be closer to the 2020 Black Seas Barracuda. Do we know any information about the price for this rumoured set? Besides another standalone POTC set I would love to see more land based Pirates sets or some vessels for the soldiers. Perhaps a pirate pub?
  2. I have to say, minifigure legs and individual studs barely stick onto the surface of all the types of newer baseplates. Could be due to the fact that LEGO changed the baseplate production line a few years ago, or so I have heard. But bricks not sticking to the baseplate truly sounds like a problem with the product's quality.
  3. Aye, thank ye! I meant the part on the left hand side. I suppose those stairs hold stable. An impressive system of removing different parts of the vessel! I meself am struggling with this at the moment, so I look for good solutions anywhere.
  4. A few months ago I saw the pirated version, seems that modifying this set proves successful no matter which theme it is. I like this rendition, those Orient Expedition printed pieces make the original build even more ornate. Good job!
  5. Possibly? The stairs that lead to the poop deck, right where the captain's cabin be. Aye, that would be greatly appreciated.
  6. The illustration reminds me of Powerwolf album covers, Dio too. Then again, they all seem to follow a similar style, it looks impressive. A well thought out system! How did ye work out the staircase stability once the deck was removed and when it was in place? I would like to see the removal of that last deck section closer, if possible.
  7. She turned out beautifully! Though I be not familiar with the source material, the original design itself is very impressive and imposing. As for the references, my guess would be that the pile of skulls and that masked individual on the poop deck certainly allude to something. Most likely many other characters are references to certain songs. Good job on the vessel!
  8. It looks very cosy. I appreciate all the small accessories and the story included with this. I had heard about the oldest buildings in Antarctica before, but this was valuable new information to me. Good job on the MOC, I wish ye good luck with the project!
  9. That is a beautiful design. Well done!
  10. I think someone here was asking about the new Leonardo da Vinci's torso. Here be a closer look at it: It seems more suitable for vikings/medieval aristocrat or such, then again, it could bode well for northern pirates.
  11. He looks too good in this diorama. This feels like basis for Dr. Lightning's manor.
  12. A beautiful design! Love the additions of the first and the second Doctor. Good job!
  13. Do not forget to include Blackbeard holding hostages in exchange for medicine.
  14. Aye, but those are far more modern pirates of 19th century. Still, this vessel has potential to be something great nonetheless.
  15. Well, I saw this late. It is a lovely design, though not suitable for Pirates at all. Good for Antarctic expedition. I like the accesories included in that Gift with purchase.
  16. An impressively made structure! Love how it turned out in the end, good job!
  17. I think LEGO has something like that at the moment. Cannot recall the part number but it is a 4x4 cake topping.
  18. I would like to see the big cake mould make a return:
  19. Aye, if they made her smaller. When displayed next to each other, one can see just how small Eldorado fortress is next to 2020's Black Seas Barracuda. That said, I would not mind having a classic wave of sorts - treasure islands, smaller fortifications, even trade posts! It feels to me that possibly LEGO ran out of ideas for Pirates (as seen by the 2015 wave), did not see much financial potential in doing the same things over again. Who knows what would have been if we saw something similar to fantasy era of Castle, but for Pirates.
  20. Impressive research! That is why ye are the historian around these waters. Ah, I did not know this piece of information, thank ye for bringing it up! If we were to scrape the bottom of the rum barrel, one could bring up the historical fact that parts of France and Britain were under one rule at a certain point in history. If anyone feels like creating a new theory, it could be that LEGO Pirates suggests such an Imperial power, thus the influence of both nations in faction's appearance.
  21. But we have evidence to support yer argument about Spanish: when Redcoats (presumably British soldiers) were introduced in 1992, they made their base of operations in similar structures as the French. One could assume that both of these powers took over forts from the Spanish. However, with the British, these builds saw a new addition - angled roofs in red: At last, when the Spanish made their debut in 1996, we saw similar structures, just with green doors and such: (I love this set ) We see a lot more ruins in the last two years of Classic Pirates. It is possible that Spanish Armada came back to reclaim what was once theirs. Let us assume for a second that the first ruling power in LEGO Pirates universe were the Spanish. As time passed by, they were pushed out of power by French (bluecoats) and British (redcoats) armies. With this in mind, both of these new armies would set their base of operations in Spanish built fortresses and outposts, perhaps adding few of their own flares. That would explain why all of these buildings had exposed masonry bricks in the 1989 - 1995 sets. While Armada Sentry is the only real set that features some form of Armada fortifications, one could assume that other buildings were destroyed at this point. This one looks like a newly built post anyway. Of course, that just be my theory on these structures. I am really tempted to write that paper. (One would need more knowledge on the history of this theme, like @TalonCard.)
  22. I would not dare to.
  23. It seems that this render suggests a LEGO fortress of being a Spanish one. Based on the lighter tones that LEGO fortresses are known for, the idea of them being Spanish is not far fetched, though @Jiesdeo's guess is a really good one. In general, LEGO forts draw inspiration from all kinds of fortresses all around Caribbean - be it Spanish, British or French. If we removed all the plaster from a LEGO fortress, it would look more like Fort Charles in Port Royal. Someone could write a research paper on this subject.
  24. Welcome to the forum, @_Sovereign _! Ye will find that both Star Wars and Pirates forums will suit yer interests, though I would join the pirate side without hesitation.
