Brickheadz No seriously, I would say Technic but honestly I am not really a fan of the obscenely large sets of any theme. For me 2 or 3 thousand pieces is about my limit, especially when you factor in price. Which is why it's going to be hard for me to buy 42100 this August, I have actually started a savings fund for it, crazy huh. I certainly see the attraction of such large sets, I have a friend who only buys really big sets but it's just not my cup of tea. I think such monstrosities are better off constructed by the end user as a moc, after collecting many sets and or pieces. The funny thing is, what qualifies as a giant set has gone up in piece count with each passing year, 45 years ago a giant set to me would have 3 or 4 hundred parts, nowadays I consider that to be a smallish set. I just finished 10265 Ford Mustang and I think that was an absolute perfect set in every respect. Oh how the times a change. Edit; Just to clarify I think humongous builds are kickass, I just think they are better off being someone's own personal creation.

[PRESS RELEASE] 10265 - Ford Mustang Creator Expert
Johnny1360 replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Just finished this masterpiece and I just have to say it is hands down my favorite build to date, sorry Saturn 5. Only a couple of things bother me about this set, mainly how the 1 by angle slopes have a rough finish get placed next to slopes with smooth finish, something that has always bothered me. I wonder if there is a acceptable way to "buff" out that roughness. Also bothered me that the stripes on the 2 by plates are not perfectly centered or straight, even though it is very slight now that I have noticed it I can't unsee it. Some of my pieces also had minor scratches and one slope has some sort of barely noticeable stain. Of course I don't expect everything to be perfect still it could have been better, especially for such a great set. They absolutely did a superb job of getting all the details of the real car recreated at this scale, out of LEGO to boot. It does get a little funky on the top of the back fenders, not sure how it could have been done better though. Another minor thing too is how the frame rails go the whole length of the chassis on the underside, the Mustang was a Unibody vehicle so they ended about halfway on the pan, again a very minor detail that in no way takes away from the models great looks. The new rims are very welcome and I am glad to have all the new parts and colors. It's very cool that it comes with bolt-on accessories to make it a race car, fantastic idea that I would like to see more of in other sets. I did make a few mistakes during the build and actually had to do some considerable deconstruction, I always seem to have problems with dark blue, that and some of the advance building techniques made parts of the building process quite fragile. All in all I highly recommend getting this set it's hands down my favorite, so far. Anyone on the fence with this one, just get it. I have not built any of the other Creator Expert vehicles, just not interested in the subject matter and have only been out of my dark age for two and a half years but I dare say this one will go down in history. It's so good I want to buy two more one for parts and one to hang on to. -
All of these are looking excellent, very well done and what a novel idea, scale model of existing LEGO sets.

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

Funny thing is, I bought 3 of the Outrider Dropships, to army build I was worried we wouldn't be getting any more. -
Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
As great as those two vehicles are, I don't really consider them to be champion speedsters. I know they did the Ford Raptor but it was towing a Hotrod. I would think that if we ever see another non-speedy vehicle it would likely be the Chevy Silverado from TLM2, likely again with some sort of Hotrod on a trailer.- 428 replies

What are the most underrated themes?

Ha just noticed that, so true, that is one of my major peeves with displaying LEGO sets too. Since I have a couple hundred sets on display dusting them has pretty much become a full time job, I pretty much dust a shelf a day but I don't mind to much, gives me a chance to play with them. Regardless still like what you have done here, motorcycles are so hard for me to get right and I think you have down a good job here.

[PRESS RELEASE] 10265 - Ford Mustang Creator Expert
Johnny1360 replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Managed to pick one up at the LEGO store today surprisingly there were actually 3 left on the shelf, the employee did say that was all they had though. Lucky enough to get the gifts as well keychain, bumper sticker and my favorite Unikitty Roller Coaster Cart that doesn't even go on the Roller Coaster track pieces. So far I am quite impressed with the set, stickers are minimal, mostly different license plates and engine compartment. I also was glad to see numbered bags, it seems like all the sets I have bought lately aren't. Anyway good luck to everyone trying to get this set, I am sure it is going to be a hot seller, it is just everything a great LEGO set should be. Edit; Something I also noticed, is that in the instruction manual, the parts in each step that appear in the call-out are highlighted with a red outline on the main build portion. I have never noticed this before and wonder if it is something we will see a lot more of in the future, it is handy just not sure if it's really necessary. It definitely helps me as I have a problem seeing where some parts go, with dark blue anyway. -
For how long will the LEGO company exist?

Fair enough, I can totally understand that, although I do buy a lot of new sets, I certainly have my most fun designing my own creations. -

If this statement is true then why are you even on this forum, do you have some sort of agenda, is it your hope to change TLG more to your liking so you can become a customer? Do you have an actual point to make or are you just trying to make everyone hate LEGO to get even with them? I guess I just don't get it you seem to be talking in circles. -

This is the way I see it too, I would like to see some facts to back up the assumption that these themes were failures and lost money, rather than just not hugely popular. Something else to consider, I am pretty damn sure that even at 20 to 30 percent off they are still turning a profit, since all sets regularly receive such discounts and I rarely buy any sets unless they are at least 20% off retail. Actually wouldn't surprise me if they still made money at 50% off, just not as much as they would like. Hardly a failure if it still turns a profit. Still I would like to see some proof they are failures and aren't making any money, other than just personal observation in a specific region. -

Maybe it could end up being like when they had to quit making toys out of wood and had to start using some sort of newfangled plastic. I remember when I was much younger plastic stuff was considered cheap, would break easy and anything plastic was just scoffed at. -

Hmm me thinks I will jack it up and put some crawler axles under it. -
I am very fond of that rear axle solution, pure genius, I will have to give that a try sometime, maybe with some slight modifications even. Good work and thanks for sharing.

Wasn't Prince of Persia a hugely popular video game years before the movie ever came out? -

Yes it should be rust colored, or a raw cast iron color. Come to think of it that tan color isn't really far off. I actually had a 66' dark blue Mustang back in the seventies (original paint) and although it wasn't a fastback or even particularly fast, that is what color the brake drums were. That was one of my favorite cars, very dependable, mine didn't have that stripe either and wasn't really a hotrod just a good car, fond memories for sure. Seemed like I was always putting clutches in it though, got to where I could do it by myself in less than 2 hours. -

Yes a pattern has certainly emerged. Not even really all that thinly veiled. Devils advocate? Almost feels like I am be baited by some of the responses. -
I do agree, this set is a let down and pretty much crap, which is why I don't have it already. I very much enjoy these smaller sets as well and they are usually pretty decent. This one stinks for sure and reminds me of an Ideas set from a five year old child of proud parents. To boot it isn't even really a good value as inexpensive as it is, for a Creator set, that is why I will wait for a discount. My local Target store regularly has these sets for 20% off, that will make it a worthwhile purchase for me then.

Incredible, what a huge model and very well done as well, I do always have a little giggle though when I see this race car. I think you have really nailed it with the scale and looks though. One question, do you happen to know how many of those rubber pieces are included for each wheel? They look great. -

Until civilization has no use for toys or until some sort of global disaster.
