  1. Ha, take a fast nimble ship and cripple it by duct taping a box car on it's nose. Then further hamper it's maneuverability by strapping some wing amputating thrusters to the megablocks end. Regardless, I like it and often do these sort of mash-ups with my own Star Wars ships, sometimes they are pretty cool, other times not so much. Still it is fun to see what you can accomplish and it looks like you had much fun creating this. I do think it could use some refinement though, longer front fuselage maybe smaller gunner compartment and definitely downsize the engines a bit. Thanks for sharing and I'm a conformist!.
  2. I have been asking myself, why did I even buy this set and your review doesn't help. I certainly didn't need more outriders, I stocked up on them with the Outrider Dropship, multiple copies on clearance sale. Nothing really special about Captain America but I did want him. The bike, no it is crap, I have actually tore it down and am trying to rebuild a better one, although it is pretty tough with existing elements. I will probably end up dipping into my parts bins to improve it. I guess I bought this for parts, there are some decent ones, like the new tires, however it is a rather pricey parts pack. Overall I totally agree with the review and wish I would have seen it before I bought the set.
  3. My dilemma is I keep finding pieces sometimes even sub-assemblies here and there that I have no idea where they come from or where they go. Whenever I drop a piece I usually have no problem finding it, thanks to a really bright LED light.
  4. I for one will be very interested in the results of your interviews. I have often wondered what people think of LEGO in China, instead of others opinions of what they think people in China views are.
  5. I am not a huge Minifigure fan but I do like to have them around to complete a build, like driving a vehicle. For someone who isn't really into the whole collecting thing though I am guilty of having quite a few of them around 1000. Over rated, I don't really think so, after all that is the only thing some are interested in and care nothing for the builds. The beauty of the whole thing is, a person can choose to sell all their minifigs making the bricks much cheaper for any given set or you can buy sets sans figs for a significantly lower price. I have also noticed that people often value their minifigures for much more than they can actually be sold for, unless you just want to sit on them until the right buyer comes along. So I would say Minifigures are not over rated more so over valued. Personally I think many sets would be incomplete without them.
  6. I guess I don't really put a lot of thought into why I am a huge fan of the Creator 3 in 1 sets. It really does just boil down to economics, seems to be one of the cheapest ways to get some great bricks, one of the reasons I am buying less and less Star Wars stuff, which I really like, it just seems like you are getting so few bricks for even more money, with each passing year. This year seem worse than ever with the 20th anniversary and battle sets. So even though I am a fan of 3 in 1, it's mostly just for cheap parts packs. Except for a few that I like to keep intact, like the Turbo Track Racer and the Sunshine Surfer Van.
  7. I think if I were doing this I would use tans and browns for sand and dirt, greens for foliage and greys for rock, with a various mix of other colors for texture and detail, reds, yellows even blues if you have some water features. I would definitely check out some region, terrain images of suitable subject matter and go from there. Obviously look to other colors to make it all come together and not look bland and unimaginative.
  8. As to unknown LEGO element, those are actually quite common and are usually used for flickfire missiles, guns etc. Not sure where yours came from but I recently got one from Star Wars 20th anniversary snowspeeder and a bunch from the Marvel jet so they are very popular, I know I have several dozen.
  9. And if you walk into most any toy store right now you will notice LEGO is not the only company rebooting Harry Potter stuff at this time.
  10. Lots of cool stuff there for sure. I am particularly interested in that steering solution you have on the Tatra, I am always looking for good steering that uses LAs. Thanks and enjoy the picnic, sure wish I could be there.
  11. What bothers me more than the colors being different, from artwork to actual figure, is how they show the minifigures with their heads and hips tilting and their knees bending, able to achieve poses that in reality are impossible. To me that is much more misleading than the colors being off.
  12. Yep it's still up, for what it's worth they include the instructions for free, you only pay for the bricks, wonder if they are even actual LEGO parts.
  13. I can honestly say, I have never noticed but that is only because I don't really view LEGO advertising or really pay much attention to the box art. I do agree with the lousy skin tone over dark colors thing though and if it is like you say, it definitely seems wrong for them to do that, to me anyway. It should look like the pictures for sure, if it is advertising for a set or specific figure.
  14. Sorry, by Brickstone tires, I just meant regular LEGO tires, it was a play on words since I noticed you have Firestone tires on there now and I must say they are spot on. I was just wondering what it would look like all LEGO parts.
  15. There is actually a thread dedicated to this very topic. As excited as I get for new parts, it's amazing how many people are so enthusiastic for these elements. I do look forward to seeing them in recolors though.
  16. Looks super, you did a great job on this and it looks good in your garage too. The silver grill paint is a bit messy and I would like to see a version with some Brickstone tires as well.
  17. Is this some kind of trick photography or is it actually physically happening?
  18. Yes and their address in the forth floor of some rent by the hour office space, in a commercial building with no signage.
  19. Yes I would say it's some kind of scam, all the pages look like copys of various other actual LEGO websites. For a good laugh read their return policy, plenty of hoops to jump through there. They do have a Hollywood address though, probably some shady one room fake store front. Strange place to do international sales and shipping from. I think if they do actually ever ship anything to a customer, it will not be what they ordered, so will be returned only you won't get your money back because the return process is impossibly difficult. All the sets have 8 reviews all from the same day 24/10/18, odd to write the date like that if they are from Hollywood CA that and why aren't the prices in US dollars. Scam don't fall for it!
  20. I thought that it was indeed a great set and an excellent addition to anyone's LEGO city. There is actually a lot of good stuff to it, two bikes, bus stop with bike rack, news stand and a wheel chair even and the electric bus looks very good as well. Thanks for the review, better late than never.
  21. I managed to grab the Captain America set off the shelf at Target yesterday but sadly when I got to the register it said not available for sale until the 31st. The salesperson tried all they could to override the prompt but alas it was a no go. Will be there tomorrow for sure, hopefully they will have some of the other sets out as well.
  22. What's that string for, no seriously that is amazing. I managed to pick this set up for 50% off clearance sale and would like to try something like this, especially since I got it mostly for parts donor. This is pretty cool and I would love to know how you pulled it off, even if the robot does seem to be very nervous. On a side note, I think this would have garnered more attention if it was posted in the action/adventure forum with the other Ninjago stuff, maybe a moderator will move it for you. Glad I saw this good job, of course it might be better if the colors matched the rest of the mech though.
  23. Yeah they have been doing this a lot lately, though it totally blows when it's one of your own. I am not sure what you can do about it though, since I have minimal understanding of copyright laws and such. I have heard of them actually paying others for their moc plans, maybe contact them somehow. Not really very promising though and it seems like nowadays the little guy gets no satisfaction unless they have a team of high powered lawyers.
  24. One thing that makes me think it won't be the next big Technic car, is that the life-sized version is realized in Brick form not Technic. So maybe Creator Expert would be really cool.
  25. Looks promising, should be interesting to see what people can come up with. This may actually make me finally break down and buy an S-brick. I hope that container isn't hauling eggs.
