  1. I wasn't aware it does, maybe the demand for it has gone up. I guess maybe people that get the Technic Bugatti also want it's little brother to display alongside it. I am correct in assuming the Speed Champions one is discontinued, right?
  2. A lot of very well expressed opinions in this thread obviously well thought out and intelligently stated. As I have said before I like both original and licensed themes, having said that though there are many themes I simply don't care for, some of them hugely popular and I won't name them to avoid argument. I just don't buy these and move on to one's I do enjoy, which are plentiful. The one thing I don't understand though is why if someone dislikes mostly everything LEGO is putting out and thinks the whole company stinks and disagrees with most people's opinion on the matter, why would they even waste thier money on LEGO or spend time on this forum. Just quit the hobby and move on, that is what I would do.
  3. I certainly don't expect a second wave but considering the size of this wave I wouldn't be surprised to see one more set, later this year.
  4. Hmm I thought this was not the place for movie discussion, I am so confused.
  5. As far as I know Eurobricks isn't making money or profiting from it. I believe that is the main difference, of course I could be totally wrong about that.
  6. Clearly you have a biased opinion that prevents you from objectively making a proper conclusion of the facts. Seriously I don't understand why so many people predict doom and gloom for original themes, from my perspective they are going stronger than ever. Also don't get why some people assume that licensed themes take away from original themes. I suppose it is possible that a licensed set may postpone a similar set idea for an original theme set, there is plenty of time in the future though and we all know LEGO is certainly not shy about redoing certain sets.
  7. I usually pick up the pullback racers every year just for parts. This may be the first year I skip them, unless I find them at a very deep discount, just too few parts. I guess this is the way they will be done in the future, very disappointed. They have never really been a good deal and I certainly don't need anymore pullback motors but just over a hundred parts = no fun.
  8. I guess it depends on where you shop but I just don't see this as an issue at all. City and Creator take up the bulk of shelf space then throw in Ninjago, Technic, Speed Champions and Friends. In fact when I look at most of the stores around here I would say licensed sets occupy only around one third of the shelf space. Since I really like both original themes and licensed themes, I see this whole point as a non issue that holds no weight whatsoever.
  9. Yeah that blue Mustang, if that is the one you mean, is indeed way to long and narrow, comically so, like a spear or missile. Definitely one of my least favorites vehicles.
  10. I didn't think it was so bad if you were mining for red barrels and always driving forward. I did actually buy two of those, none are built though, just bought them for parts, I like those tires and yellow lift arms and I can always use more black pins.
  11. Sorry to hear you were so dissapointed with the Ferrari, I quite enjoyed building it, even though I made the same mistake as you, with the red 1x1 plates. I guess the inaccuracies don't normally bother me as much because I consider Speed Champions to be caricatures of thier real life counterparts, I mean come on the driver sits in the middle. Even though the McLaren is my favorite so far I did think the Ferrari was well done too. Oh well always interesting to hear others thoughts as well. Still haven't got the Minis yet, kind of on the fence with this set as I have no use for the side builds, likely to pick it up later anyway.
  12. Does it make that same sound when the motor spools up with no load on it?
  13. I have actually done this a couple of times once with a Star Wars set and once with a Jurassic World set. I like to buy two of a set then build one as a mirror image and connect them together making one much larger build. It's not particularly hard to do but you do need to pay attention because it can get a bit confusing. I also did this with a Speed Champions test center/garage because it just made more sense to me. It might just be a little easier for me because I have done this before building real houses as part of my job. I do think it is worth doing and many times just makes more sense, so yes the results are worthwhile and it isn't really that hard.
  14. I do think that looks better, centered with the building instead of the base plate, good idea. Actually didn't really notice it was off center before, probably would have noticed immediately if I was building it though.
  15. I thought that the Corvette hood opened the other way, towards the front. I do like the idea of an opening hood though.
  16. Likewise here, this set just looks too good to pass up. Really like that it looks good from all angles, so many sets just look like a hot mess from the back or sides. What a rarity of a great set, I think anyone that doesn't get this one will regret it in the future.
  17. Hmm, makes me wonder, how well would shrink tubing work?
  18. Indeed, most notably the Ferrari insignia on the side of a 1x1 plate, so tiny. Also the black 1x1 plate with the red printed side for the tail lights very nice touch.
  19. Do you mean like shrink wrap? I have never seen it done around here anyway, Midwest USA. It could be a theft deterrent, done in your region. You know how some people buy a set carefully open it remove pieces, then carefully reseal it and return for a refund. I actually had this happen to me with of all things a Nexo Knights set, some jerk removed all the minifigures then taped over the seals, it totally looked like an unopened set. Ever since then I very carefully examine all sets with extreme scrutiny, before purchase.
  20. Yes, especially the older sets, I believe they have fixed it now. There are a couple of threads discussing these issues and it always seems to be that these two colors are effected the most, think it has something to do with the pigmentation used.
  21. Very well thought out and implemented plan, I like where this is going. I really like those axles and can't wait to try some of those ideas on a future moc. Appreciate what you have done here and look forward to seeing how it all turns out.
  22. Picked up my first SC car of the new wave, the Ferrari and I must say for a box shaped car it is quite an interesting build. Really hoping the rest of the 2019 sets are this good, it really does seem to me that the whole Speed Champions builds have been getting better each year. Loved last year's builds and looking forward towards more great and interesting builds this year.
  23. A state of confusion?
  24. Surprisingly, looks really good, for a rock. Pretty neat idea as well, I think a first for sure. Good job I dig it.
  25. That is quite impressive, for something that looks so simple, it is very involved. The final result looks very good and I can tell a lot of time went into creating the finished product. I really enjoyed trying to figure out how it was achieved, thanks for sharing.
