  1. Well the more we learn about this fantastic set, the more I realize, it's not for me. I wish it was but it just isn't.
  2. Where's the bean bag chair? I think it's a nice little scene, takes me back for sure, thanks for sharing.
  3. I also would suggest getting a ballpark figure on cost, as the size and features you would like, will make this truck very expensive, in my opinion anyway. I would hate to see someone put forth all that effort and expense just to have the customer drop dead when seeing the price tag. Parts alone should prove to be rather costly, then the time and effort which is rarely properly compensated for. Thankfully most builders are quite fair when it comes to time invested.
  4. Just finished it myself, thought it was a pretty solid set. Good figures great parts, I really liked getting all those trans clear blue pieces, also some of those tan pieces, most notably the corner 1x1 arch pieces. Thought the build was pretty good and even the price seems fair, may even pick up a second set on discount. Thanks for another great review and I agree with most of your opinions as well. Great set even if your not a fan, many excellent parts.
  5. I recently acquired around 3000 LEGO elements and during the course of cleaning, which included soaking in very hot, soapy, tap water, I noticed an unintended consequence. The clutch power of all the bricks was greatly increased from what it was before cleaning and even though some of them were quite dirty, most were not bad at all. So I would say it's worth a shot, if your bricks are not clutch worthy.
  6. Not intended for PF use but I am sure you could rig something up, obviously you would need to gear it down.
  7. For a fact, unless of course you have buggy motors and a Buwhizz. Which I cannot really afford at this time.
  8. Yes I would love a two car set with that Trans Am in it, with an old school cop car and hell why not a semi for it too. Of course everyone would complain about how expensive it is and all they want is just the Trans Am.
  9. Agreed, I am trying to build a simple moc and before I even get halfway through it I am thinking about transmissions, weighted flywheels and a trigger launch system. I really need to first get a working prototype and then think about those things. That is why on my first post I told the OP it looked nice and simple and should consider adding changes later. Still say it's nice looking car, he did a good job and should only add features if he feels like it. It is Technic and people like to see features, since that is what it is all about. My problem is I envision so many features during the build process I end up never completing the MOC.
  10. Confused as to why we need another thread to discuss the 2019 sets. I am glad you were able to see them and I am grateful for any insight you can provide. It just seems like now we are getting a lot of double posting. Somebody reads this thread and then turns around and posts it in the other thread. Please don't be offended but it is a bit confusing, to me anyway.
  11. Ha, why so angry? I think it would benefit from some lower gearing, it is quite responsive, that driver needs to wear HANS device.
  12. I was going to suggest looking at that set as well, really liked that cart actually bought two of them. It was nice getting a two speed transmission in such a small set and honestly I don't understand why they don't do that more often. I also agree that rear portion is too wide almost comically so. I think that whole front steering wheel section sticks up too high, steering wheel appears to be in drivers face and reduce the angle a bit maybe.
  13. To be honest this thing is hideous, I think it needs different tires, maybe look at Speed Champions tires. Think you need to fill in that gap on the side under the windshield piece. That nose just sticks out too far and the back is too big and bulky. Maybe try to add some curves as well in the fender area and in the back. I really think it would benefit from a major overhaul and don't really like any aspect of it. You could actually pick a real car you like and base your version off that.
  14. Good point and you are absolutely right, originally I had planned to use larger wheels with flatter tread. I ended up choosing these though because with six holes between the axles the tires just barely touch, the only tires that do this without going to some weird 1/2 hole off-set or something. Which is necessary for moving the paper through the mechanism. I actually tried with them further apart and closer together and this seems to be the sweet spot. Edit: I am kind of bummed as I could not make time to work on this today, even though I thought about it all day.
  15. Well that certainly clears up everything for me, thank you very much.
  16. It does look nice, way to keep it simple. I too was expecting adjustable suspension, when I think lowrider that is what I immediately think of. Still I like it a lot, maybe you could work on suspension later, definitely looks like what it is supposed to and I agree Chevy Impala flavor for sure.
  17. Looks like a lot of interesting stuff, just wish I didn't have to watch all those u-tube videos.
  18. That is also a great idea, although I think I am too far into my design at this stage to make such a major change. I will keep it in mind though and might end up doing something along those lines. I kind of consider the tires to now be some sort of flywheel. Maybe I should put some weight inside the tires, half bushs or 2 L axles, hmm we'll see. As I will just be using one sheet of standard paper I don't think it will drag it down much if any at all. Hopefully it doesn't just shred the paper, my first attempt mangled it pretty good. Love hearing all these ideas, so thanks everyone, now I feel like I really need to make this thing work. When I started I was just messing around with some gears and motors and didn't really care.
  19. That does sound like a very good idea, since the Speed I am looking for has the most load just starting up and my POC module does seem to be right at the limit. I have plenty of room so I will see what I can do. Maybe three 2 speed transmissions with one shifter link so I don't have to do them all separately. Damn now I have yet another redesign, oh well that is were all the fun is and I think it will be a great idea.
  20. Certainly a lot of interesting stuff there @sirslayer appreciate the info, I sure thought the medium motor turned faster than that, I may have to recheck my math and add some more gears. I do have a few portal axles but I don't really think I can put them to use, as I will be gearing up not down and I will not be using hubs either. As far as load is concerned the tires will be freewheeling barely touching another tire. There will be three pairs 13 studs apart along a line, with each pair being powered by 1 m motor. The only load will be the tires themselves with the gear train. The plan is for them to move a paper airplane/missile down a channel at high speed, in order to poke little Johnny's eye out. Right now I have to work out how to offset the power units 1/2 stud from the final drive due to tire placement and channel width. Thanks again and I will recheck that motor rpm thing.
  21. Sure does, exactly what I wanted to know, thanks.
  22. Yet another stupid question for anyone reading. Would I be better off adding speed (gearing up) before the differential or after? I assume after just not sure.
  23. Please excuse my ignorance and yes I am for real. How does the build a Minifigure thing work, do you literally put together your own fig then pay, how much and what about accessories are those extra or do you get one per figure?
