  1. Their offices in Quinnsville had just recently been set up properly, but the WTC had already establish local business opportunities some time ago. The island of Cocovia was known for its fertile grounds, especially for coffee and cocoa, so it seemed natural to claim some new land from the jungle for an agricultural venture. With cocoa already grown on a large plantation nearby, and another one near King's Harbour, it had been decided to go for coffee. Highly profitable, coffee was still yet to be grown in commercial quantities in Corrington - so the WTC might have a first mover advantage on the market! Having... acquired... the necessary seeds from an ETTC research site in King's Harbour, the first coffee trees were growing already, while parts of the plantation were still in the process of being set up. Fighting back the jungle proved to be easier said than done! .. The local WTC Operator was discussing the progress with the plantations foreman: "We need to get this up and running as soon as possible. I promised results to Mr. Mordo, and I do not plan to disappoint him." "But sir, I need more men. The conditions here are tough, and even then the trees only grow so fast. It will take time, no matter what." "I guess. Still, hasten your efforts. The sooner we can sell overpriced coffee to gullible minifigs, the better." "Will do, sir. By the way, what is it with all the gold?" "We are a royal trade company after all! It also helps with moving our income around. For tax purposes, you know. The last thing we want is to pay the Crown..." ================================= Licensed as a medium plantation in Quinnsville. A wide shot of the full build: One more aerial view: Since this is for the GoC-initiative, a shoutout to @Ayrlego, @Bregir, @Captain Dee and @SilentWolf. If possible I would really appreciate a quick response if this build is fine, since it takes quite a bit of room, and I fear our cats might soon find it... interesting. I was unable to pick coffee as a category when licensing this, which I found very odd (I picked "Tropical Fruit" instead, which coffee technical is). An oversight in the licensing form? This also might call for an update of the island bonus list. As always, C&C are appreciated, thanks for watching!
  2. Sorry, me again. Mesabi Landing is listed at a Trade Value of 405, which is awefully low given its number of properties. It was at 608 back in April. What went wrong?
  3. Wow, very impressive in both scale and level of detail! When I read the thread title I expected some 4-stud-wide thing and a building in the style of the 90s City line, but damn! Really cool stuff, well done.
  4. Loving it, nicely done!
  5. ... who is not listed anywhere.
  6. The WTC wholeheartedly agrees.
  7. The settlement of New Nassau states that anybody can build and own property there, but I'm still asking to avoid raised eyebrows: does any Sea Rat player mind the WTC setting up a presence there? If not, is there something you would like to see?
  8. Really well done build, and something I haven't seen in Lego form so far. It strongly reminds me of modern churches though, so the style is far from unique (not a bad thing!). Gives it quite a "temple of knowledge" vibe to me.
  9. Really nice! Explosives are a must obviously. One thing I would have done differently is making the rock wall and the ground "end" at the same point. Now it gives the impression as if the rocks are just standing there, abruptly ending, since the ground is around them for another three studs. Other than that I see nothing to complain about. The rocks are nicely irregular, and that perspective thing with the rails works perfectly. Well done! I also love seeing Quinnsville grow again. This sets up some great options for further development!
  10. I for one would not complain at all, quite the contrary!
  11. I'm alrady looking forward to it, good to see you return soon. Thank you! Toilet paper is an important invention, and somebody has to provide... Thanks, that's the plan. I hope to catch up on some other stories as well as featuring whatever developments come up soon. Thank you, and keep in mind that you can always object to whatever you might not like. M yintention is to amuse, not to offend.
  12. True, their parts selsection has its limit. But if I remember correctly you also have the option to send them parts you want prints on - definitely send them a mail and just ask. Worst thing to happen is a "sorry, no".
  13. Nice read, great to see the Chronicler back! Overall it seems that at least the Newspapers of the Brick Seas are active again.
  14. A return of pirates and castle please. And if all else fails: space pirates!
  15. Really cool MOC, i especially like the pop-up rear wall, excellent stuff!
  16. Great MOC, with some good technical work and funny scenes inside. A wonderful addition to your great city layout, well done!
  17. They were not listed in order. Also note that the statement on the Lego page is that "LEGO Movie 2 products also contributed to consumer sales growth". Well of course they did - with the first set sold they already achieve that! So specifically mentioning it, while also not singling it out as something special (unlike the SW line) rather suggests to me that the TLM2 sets did poorly, and this is just an attempt to gie it some last-minute attention. I am pretty curious to see how TLG caters to the India market, if at all. They did some spectacular sets for the Chinese market, so we might see something similar for 2020?
  18. Great lively scene with a truly "southern vibe", well done! I especially like the layered walls on the white building, and the height variation given by the two levels. Any chance we could get a shot from slightly above?
  19. To answer the question from the thread title: yes it does. If I like a movie, series or franchise in general, I am likely to check the corresponding sets in much more detail. As a result they are more likely to be bought. It is very similar with things I actively do not like: associated sets have it much harder with me. Case in point: anything from TFA and onwards. I can sort of live with TFA and RO (don't like them though), but just hate the rest. I only got very few sets related to all of these combined, and they got bought on merits other than their role in the movies.
  20. Ha, this is awesome. Really well done, even though it has no chance as an Ideas set. Loving it anyway!
  21. I have used this service (from Germany, so reasonable postage for you) before to get custom prints on some parts. Not exactly cheap, but not terribly expensive either. The quality received was exellent, so I can only recommend it if you want something of your own and/or special.
  22. WTC Offices, licensed as small commerce by the WTC:
  23. It had been quiet around the WTC over the last months - that did not mean they had been idle though! With a large factory already set up in Quinnsville, and the prospect of closer cooperation for a mining venture in the near future, setting up local offices was only a logical next step. Guarding the newly set up WTC Offices, the two WTC Marines could not decide what to appreciate more: the curves of the local ladies, or those of the horses! Not everybody approved of the WTC now being present in Quinnsville though. Or was it just fear for his horse? Either way: all hail the WTC! =========================================== Licensed as a small commerce property by the WTC. More pictures, including the backside of the build: I'm pretty hapy with how this one turned out. Nothing fancy really, but a solid looking facade and some street life in Quinnsville. Note the difference between the green vegetation of Cocovia in general and the cacti brought from Argentia directly in the front of the WTC Offices - you want to feel home, at least a little bit! Now with a proper local representation, I plan to have the WTC a lot more active in and around Quinnsville. As always, C&C are welcome and appreciated.
  24. Dang, I totally forgot that Proxyville property. You are of course correct, thanks for the reminder! Early dementia on my end it seems... Well, I hope things are back to normal soon. The license listing is just so super useful - good luck getting it back asap!
