I'm not sure who is doing the documents behind the scenes. @Capt Wolf? @Bregir? A more detailed report on the Spudkirk raid would be highly appreciated. While the settlement itself has no defensive structures, it has three ships in port - a class 3, class 5 and class 8 - and 30 troops with them. What did happen to these, and what losses did the attacker suffer? What exactly was raided? All OOC of course, we can work out the IC story over the next weeks.

You know what, I'll do some more pictures tomorrow. It really bugs me to not have shown more of the mangrove forest - it makes up a third of the baseplate, and is hardly seen so far! I also completely forgot some "behind the scenes" pictures. So yeah, more tomorrow.

Settlement, Port Mordo, Calinstock, Corrington
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A small shrine to Prometheus has been erected in the jungle nearby: -
Somewhere on Calinstock, near the small settlement recently established by the crew of the Cranky Parrot. Not too far off the coast, but hidden from the seaside by already impenetrable jungle, Captain Riley and "Sarge" stood next to some form of statue... "So this is what you have worked on lately, Captain? I assumed you were up to... other business in the jungle. Cleaning the coconut palm, if you get me..." "You have a filthy mind, Sarge. No, this statue has taken up most of my spare time over the last weeks. See, I could not talk about it openly so far, for the Order has its eyes and ears everywhere: I am a follower of Prometheus, and we are persecuted all over the Brick Seas. This place feels like a new start and safe haven at the same time. Here I can live my faith without fear for my life. This statue of Prometheus is just the beginning." "A small shrine to Prometheus, showing Him as the bearer of the flame He brought to us from the gods. Made from clay, as He has made us minifigs in His image at the dawn of time." ===================================================================== Licensed as a small arts&culture property in Proxyville - soon to be renamed. The whole build: Nothing major, and I am not overly happy with it. Still feeling a bit build-blocked... As always, C&C are welcome and appreciated!

On order from Mr. Mordo, the WTC had begun to strengthen its position in many settlements all over the Brick Seas. After setting up an official representation in Quinnsville, something similar had no been done for Stormhaven. Earlier this year one of their famous WayMarts had been opened, and now it had company in the form of proper WTC Offices for Serentia and Lacryma. On a sunny afternoon, a WTC Marine was enjoying a bottle of rum, when he noticed a rowboat approaching their office building: He called out: "Hey Operator, seems like we got company. I think I've met that fella back in Mesabi Landing months ago..." And indeed, it was the one who called himself "Golden Jack" who got out of the boat: "Arr mate, make way, I have business to do with your boss. See, I have order from your fine Mr. Mordo, so let me get up there!" "Listen here lady. Mr. Mordo has given me order to try my luck over here. Said something like 'we have enough gold here by now, and for studs sake just get somewhere else!', you know, he really appreciates my hard work and fine instinct and all that. Great dude! So now here I am, and you better give me some of that explosive stuff. I'll blow my way to some gold faster than you can say 'no not inside the house!!!' ... true story!" And so for better or worse, Golden Jack has arrived on Serentia, to find the WTC yet another opportunity for mining soon. Gold at last? ========================================================================= Licensed as a medium commerce property in Stormhaven by the WTC. @Ayrlego @Bregir @Captain Dee @SilentWolf: This is my first entry for the "Mangrove Madness" task, as one of the two buildings in Stormhaven. I will leave the build up for a few days, so if you have any requests for change and/or additional pictures - let me know. One more picture of the whole build: There are also a couple of additional pictures, taken a day later. These provide some more views of the mangrove forest and additional "behind the scenes" detail. Two "in-scene" looks below the stilted house: . One shot behind the scenes: And two views on the water and mangroves without the house: I am quite happy with how this one turned out. The snotted walls work as intended, and I tried something new for the window which I am very pleased with. Most of the mangrove forest is hidden below the house though... As always, C&C are welcome and appreciated!

I think we can just assume the reporter was inebriated by one of the many vile drinks available in Mesabi Landing, so missed the latest WTCM. Ever tried reading when drunk?! There should be enough time left. The Oktoberfest and the next main challenge are an issue though: I do not want to have the Cup overlapping with any "main event".

Well, good things come to those who wait! Good to finally have the next KPA around, thank you @Capt Wolf for the hard work put into it. Lots to digest this time. Spudkirk raided? Dammit, that will have consequences... Also: all of my ships returned to Mesabi Landing with no profit at all, with no reason given. What went wrong there? Also also: whoever is behind the trade convoy of the HMS Wentham II - @Bregir? @SilentWolf? - please PM me concerning the port taxes. Your reporter should read the latest WTC Monthly.

The launching of the soulful hound
Darnok replied to Count Vroskri's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
All hail Grandfather Nurgle! -
Great market place scene, there is so much to discover - loving it! I really like the whole storyline leading up to this, and it feels like we are close to the "season finale". Excellent work by everybody involved, and this one stands out in particular.

Nice one, if a bit blocky (a Minecraft ship? ). I too was a bit confused by the story at first, but in the end: good one! -
Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Darnok replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It is this form you have to use. For some reason a link in the "About Ships" thread is an older version that no longer works. The one in the Master Index thread is the current (and working) version. @Bregir or @Captain Genaro should be able to fix the old link though. -
I can only join the choir: nice designs, these are two very good looking boats. Extra thumbs up for the amount of detail inside and the story! Any chance we could get some sort of instructions?
-
I really hope the next Castle line does not come with any license attached to it. Quite frankly I see a license as more of a restriction to creative sets than a boon. More often than not licensed sets are not better than unlicensed ones - just more expensive.

Neat. Sure this wasn't meant to be a thread of its own? Cool story either way, and I like the build too. A prelude of things to come? -
LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Darnok replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I expect the soon-to-be discontinued sets - they want to clear their stock. -
Why not? Lego does lots of sets from the original trilogy again and again, and there are currently six sets from the prequel/CW era in production (plus two microfighters). To me there is no reason to believe we will not get any more in the future. You and me both, as well as a lot of people I think!

It's shown on the "coming next issue" page of the magazine. Not sure if it is actually a delivery guy, or just the possessed version of the dude in the Shrimp Shack Attack (70422). Either ay, at least it is a 100% useful minifig!

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Darnok replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think overall the new Falcon is an improvement - if only for the fully enclosed hull. Finally! The interior leaves something to be desired, but quite honestly I'd have an easier job with filling that section with life of my own than fixing the hull design of older versions. -
Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules
Darnok replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
I appreciate the quick response and admire what you do with the new faction. Seriously, you have some great stuff going on there! Overall I feel like my ideas do not fit with the Triumvirate at all though - too many vhoops to jump through so to speak. Black Sun and the Confederacy are the candidates I'm looking into right now. -
Great build, and some excellent work with the perspective. Well done! I wonder if the large flat area in grey is supposed to be water? It would make sense for the scene, but then why not in blue?

José's Inn - Ye Olde BoBS Drinking Hole
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, you already caught me I guess. I try to find real world connections to almost everything I do. In some cases that's just not possible, but in many more it is. As an example: every single main or side character of mine has a name based on a historical persona, and I have a text file of three pages (so far) documenting those references. I doubt many people notice or even care, but for me it adds another subtle layer of fun. -

Actually yes, and for that exact reason.
