  1. While we're on the general topic of getting back, future plans and challenges of all sorts and sizes: I will not be able to do a Merrynight mini-challenge this year. So anybody willing to take over for at least this year: you are more than welcome to do so. Granted, it is still a bit in the future - but Lego is selling its Advent Calenders already, so why not start planning Merrynight now?
  2. I stand corrected, for you are right. A forum search for "orangerie" - despite the wrong spelling - helped a lot. So yeah, there is this orangery build as part of a royal property. Thanks for the remark, I would not have found it otherwise! The entry to the Plants Index has been edited accordingly, including the IC background for Fuerte Unido.
  3. A minor technicality for the contribution to the royal property: 32x32 is 1024 studs, so you do not need "more than 32x32", but 32x32 is fine already. This also means an easy reference frame, since 32x32 baseplates are so common.
  4. Sorry for not commenting on this earlier! Despite my general absence I have followed this storyline with interest, and this is yet another great development. A fine build, providing surprisingly many little scenes on such a limited space. Well done! Now Oleon should move on, and provide peace - by superior firepower!
  5. From what I could find: yes it is. Which I find to be a bit odd, with oranges being so common in tropical environments, and the role they played during our own Age Of Discovery due to the prevention of scurvy. But hey, you made me update my Plants Index with another entry, and hopefully others will get inspired to do some more plantations of their own. An Orangery would also be a great and highly time-appropriate building project.
  6. Name: Orange (Citrus x sinensis) IC background: Oranges are a popular fruit in the Brick Seas, and grown all over Terra Nova thanks to the tropical climate. All great nations have a considerable orange industry, their colonies providing a constant stream of this still exotic fruit for their homelands. In some cases the rich show off their wealth by building ornate orangeries, like in Brickwall Memorial Park in Fuerte Unido. OOC background: Originating from China, were it was created as a hybrid of pomelo and mandarin (earliest mention in literature as per Wikipedia: 314 BC). Also called sweet orange, to not be confused with the bitter orange. Orange trees are widely grown in tropical and subtropical climates for their sweet fruit, and make up about 70% of the worldwide production of citrus today. As always, the Wikipedia article is a useful source, I can recommend the part about its history. Builds in BotBS: Orangery, part of Brickwall Memorial Park, Fuerte Unido (Elostirion) Orange Plantation, unknown location (Dzoni90)
  7. Hehe, thanks. Please also keep the Weelond Octoberfest in mind, which has a somewhat more restricted time window. I am really in no rush with the Soccer Cup - all I know is I will do it, just the exact time is unclear for now. Any delays can be easily IC explained by Mesabi Landing having more important issues over the last months than preparing for a big tournament like this, and when the OOC schedule is open again those issues will be sorted out by then. Looking forward to the next ingame events already.
  8. Great looking little ship. I especially like how it looks "like a Lego set", yet at the same time is clearly your own invention. Well done! The chosen clours work well, the only odd choice to me are the brown (wooden?) chains at the front. I didn't even know these chains were made in brown. I guess it's supposed to represent wooden ornaments? I just can't shake off that thought of "why the heck are the anchor chains brown?"... Overall a really pretty ship, and a fine addition to Corringtons fleets!
  9. It might not happen at the usual time of the year. Right now I can make no promises either way. If things keep running smoothly on my side, a September signup as last year is possible. It might come at a later time just as well though. BUT... I have these since last year, and some ideas what to do with them. So have some patience: I'd rather do it right than rushed. P.S.: We have a mini-challenge going on right now, with a possible "big" challenge starting not that far into the future as well. I will check with the higher-ups! An overlap of events is something I'd rather not do. Could @Ayrlego, @Bregir, @Capt Wolf or @Captain Genaro please comment?
  10. A brilliant start for your adventures, well done! Two nice little scenes that work just well for the story. Those black plates could use some cleaning though. I am using the same head for both Corrington officers as well as in the WTC - it is just perfect. If I remember correctly I got mine from the "Build a Minifig"-thing the Lego stores do.
  11. Nice work so far, looking forward to how it will look when finished.
  12. @Captain Genaro @Phred @Bregir Sorry for the double post, but please put @DonRamon1981 into the database, so he can start licensing things. Thanks in advance!
  13. Catching up with another main story for the settlement, also featured in the OP summary. You can find a discussion of the rebuilding organisation here. "Disaster at Mesabi Landing" storyline: Setup The Devastation of Oldtown, Darnok: For Whom The Bell Tolls, Roadmonkeytj: The Flooded District, Mesabi: Walking the ruins, Mesabi: Cobbling together a street, Mesabi: The WTC needs YOU!, Darnok: Conclusion
  14. Humble beginnings in "Settling down?", a small residence.
  15. Just brilliant! Not kidding here: I had no intention of getting this particular set, but now I am heavily tempted. Not to build it as is of course!
  16. Those are some great builds, excellent work on all of them. However, to me the original colour scheme works better. I think your MOCs would look even better with the classic colours.
  17. Welcome @DonRamon1981, good to have you around. I hope your stay will be long and your builds be plentiful. I'll PM you in a minute, so if you have any questions regarding the games background and/or game mechanics, we can take it there.
  18. This is great news, thank you very much.
  19. I mean the EGS part of the game. The size of this build is 64x48 studs, so (with some leeway) would be a medium sized plantation in EGS terms. If you want it to "produce" income for your account, you first have to license it. If you are unclear about the licensing process either I or one of your fellow Oleon players can help you.
  20. Great MOC, much better than the (already nice) original. Well done!
  21. Just noticed this now, coming back from a hiatus has its surpirses. Good to see more activity here, and best of luck to the new powdermonkeys! I'm sure they'll do a great job.
  22. I am not a fan of the "flat" paper sails - and that is the only minor point of criticism I'd raise. Other than that: breathtaking build, absolutely awesome from front to end! This is one of the things I want to do one day, and you have achieved it close to perfection. I'm in complete awe!
  23. Both of these issues are unresolved so far.
  24. Hmm, good point. Scrap that idea then. I just thought I could loot some shiny picture.
  25. Can I please use this image in an upcoming issue of the "WTC Monthly"? Also: I can not view those files without being registered with Flickr.
