Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It seems like the lights have been lit again in the offices of the "WTC Monthly". If you have stories you want to see shared, or angry letters to the editor: PM me! -
Damn, this is awesome! Loving every bit of it! Now if only GW would do a proper Zombie Pirates army...

Lovel builds, with a charming crwod scene. I also love those "wanted posters", great work! Let it be known that Mesabi Landing was, is and always will be a safe haven for those cherishing freedom and social justice! Break the yoke of religious zeal and greedy nobility - let the common minifig decide its own fate! Mesabi Landing stands with the oppressed! -
I've been out of the loop for quite a while, so this might be an old hat for some. However, I just watched a review of a recent set and instantly started thinking about BotBS in general and Oleon in particular. Have a look at this one: Review: On top of being a fine coach build with just minimal changes (six wide front achsle, no wings, done), this provides just so much use for Oleon in my opinion! The light blue parts provide great shapes, and the sticker'd parts give you easy ornamentation. Add the gold parts and you have the "royal and blue" done already. And that's not even mentioning the golden lamps and the whte wings for eve more ornaments. The minifigs might be a bit odd at first, but they sure can be worked into something with a bit of creativity. The only downside of the whole affair is it's price - if you're only looking for the decorative parts, it is much cheaper to get them on Bricklink - same for the sticker sheet.

Yeah, that harbour building and its surroundings are done fantastic! There seems to be some SNOTting around the windows? No matter how it's done, it looks great. If only there was some kind of interior. -
Fair enough. The laboratory doesn't really interest me as is, but I have this weird idea of incorporating it into one of my Modulars - in some top floor, with parts of the equipment on the rooftop.

Two things I've compiled for the Corrington PM, but could be helpful for anybody interested:

Not that odd in my opinion: I consider this an attempt to keep the sets in "public attention" after the first rush is over.

A great MOC, with a good mix of scenery and structures. The orange trees could use a wider stem, but other than that they are really well done. I love the amount of activity going on. The house though... just wow. Brilliant stuff all around! Is this to be licensed for the game?

So for those as curious as me, there is quite a bit of backstory on the Rimbaud family to be found here. The family colours are shown as well: As for a minor pet peeve of mine:

According to Promobricks, the Juice Bar will be given away from 02. to 15. of September. No definites on the conditions yet, it seems 45€/$50 is the treshold.

With quite some delay, the Merrymas Market has finally been licensed. It also featured in last years WTC Advent Calendar.- 33 replies

Not wanting to spam, just something I don't want to forget again... A quick search on the history of ice production led me to the insight that saltpeter played a big role in it. There is a salpeter deposit near Quinnsville (and I don't know of any other in BotBS so far), which could be harvested once a mine has been set up. @LM71Blackbird might want to profit from this connection - anything related to Saltpeter has now even more reason to be built for Quinnsville! All good reasons to breath some life back into the game!

Could you please provide some samples of builds related to the Rimbaud family? Mostly for their colours, but also for the general feel you want to see achieved.

I have yet to even read the full OP, but my immediate thought was "hey, my AMRCA had my crew sail through the frozen North, ice is something they know". Now on to actually read what this is all about!

Yet another zealous lunatic whose hypocrisy backfired - hooray! May the WTC assist with a donation of kinds? We would totally not strangle you with conditions and stuff.

I remember properties being calculated into settlement size the moment they were submitted and/or licensed. If this is not happening now it is definitely a change. -
Very nice! I love the use of the Sky Pirates, they give the otherwise orderly MOC an instant piraty feel. Well done!

I need to know the number of troops stationed in Jameston for the accounts of Drunknok, Mesabi and WTC. A simple PM will do the trick, thanks in advance.
