José's Inn - Ye Olde BoBS Drinking Hole
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There were made a lot of weird decisions in the Ideas line in my opinion - I am grateful for the one time it paid of for this excellent project. Really looking forward to the Pirate Bay, it has me excited like a kid! How do you guys deal with "builders block"? Couldn't get a relatively easy idea into bricks over the last days, and now RL derailed my priorities once again. -
Being brutally honest here: at first I was far from impressed. "Just some microscale cruiser, duh" ... man, first impressions can fool ya! Seeing the model next to other microbuilds really puts it into perspective. Great work overall!

I like the thing as it is, but believe they will reduce the complexity a bit. I hope it's nothing major, and more importantly that they keep the "spirit" as it is. Looking forward to this, I love the whole "puppet house" style. My main issue with the final product will most likely be the price.

Ah okay, thanks. I read some comments of "wow, might be later this year", and found it pretty optimistic.

José's Inn - Ye Olde BoBS Drinking Hole
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ha, I'm actually happy with the Women Of NASA set, have it around... somewhere. As for drinks... no definite favourite these days. I enjoy a big can of black tea in the morning, but the exact type is not as important as that it is "hot and lots of it". I also like that cheap choco-cappucino stuff you get as powder to stir into hot water... 2/3 sugar, maybe that's the addictive part. Other than that? Maybe Tonic Water. And also: just plain water. Can't get a cheaper and more strictly regulated drink around here, that is also actually refreshing. -
THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
Darnok replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
Does anybody have a clue on how soon we might see the actual set? -
Does anybody an idea of how long it takes between approval announcement and release of an Ideas set? Case in point: a rough ETA for the Pirate Bay?

You start a thread over there exactly the same way as you did here. No magic involved.

My greatest fear now is not a wild redesign, but the price. I don't see a set of this price below 200€, assume it will be somewhere around 250€... and fear for 300+€. I like it. -

So to kickstart this one: the Pirate Bay just got approved for production in the Ideas range! While I have no illusions of this meaning anything for Lego Pirates in general, at least we get something close to this incredible creation. How do you feel about this set? And what can we make of it for the game - other than the most obvious Sea Rat hide-out? -

Arr, 'tis a great day for all Lego Pirate-dom for sure! -
Great build! Very "clean" at first sight, but with lots of little things once you take a bit of time. The windows made with red fences look good, as does the red/green contrast overall. Loving the brick-built goats. The sock tile for laundry is just brilliant! As for size: this is clearly medium sized.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Done. I hope it satisfies an actual demand. -
José's Inn - Ye Olde BoBS Drinking Hole The Brethren of the Off Topic Arr ye landlubbers, come in and have one of my Second Best! All chattin' is fine chattin' in 'ere. Don't ye pick a fight though, or Ol' Bubba has to throw ya out. Other than that everybody is welcome as long as ye keep payin' ya tab... Welcome to the off topic thread for everything even slightly related to "Brethren of the Brick Seas"! This should be a place to be for chatting about the game in general, grand plans of world domination, the latest idea you might have with this or that build or just random off topic stuff fitting nowhere else. While the Intro Thread is still the place to be for everything concerning rules debates, IC or OOC stuff of importance or all the other things it has proven useful for, this thread is meant to be an informal space for whatever you have on your mind at the time of posting. If you wonder whether something is worth posting here: feel free to just bring it up. The forum rules still apply, but other than that anything goes.

For the Glory of Corrington! An Enduring Free Build Challenge
Darnok replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely fort, the "real world presentation" works well. This jungle scene would work for any settlement other than Mesabi Landing. Maybe Stormhaven, for it only has a small fort so far?- 191 replies

Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules
Darnok replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
Giving this game another good look after almost a year of neglecting it: how is the current status of the subofrum overall? How is the general activity, and what factions are the more active ones? Also: if I wanted to play a somewhat outlaw-ish, scoundrel type of character, what faction would suit me best? Black Sun seems to be pretty hierarchially organised, and also not that active? -
I'm not even a fan of Futurama, but that model looks great. Here is the Ideas page of the project.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Today at 4pm CEST - i.e. in a bit more than five hours from when I am typing this - Lego will announce the winner (s?) of the current Ideas review round via Facebook livestream. This one includes the fantastic Pirate Bay, so I have high hopes! On a slightly related note: I feel like this thread is not exactly suited to random chatting and slightly off-topic discussions, but think the subforum could use something like this. Like the "BotBS Tavern", for anything that isn't strictly related to the game or its mechanics, although with some overlap to ingame stuff - a somewhat informal place. I believe it would be a useful thing to have, and possibly strenghten the community spirit. What do others think? -

While in general I don't exactly hope for yet another restaurant, this would be something awesome. -
[GoC - Gunboats for the RN] Class 2 Gunboat
Darnok replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great gunboat, I wouldn't change anything! It's a shame that a brickbuilt flag like that is not possible in RL - but hey, digital stuff has its advantages! The part exists, but it only came with limited edition minifigs so far. See example 1, example 2 and example 3. No idea where the third one actually was used, but it is in the "Build a minifig" selection in my Lego store -
I agree, for a first ship this has a lot going for it. Brickbuilt hulls are never easy to get "right", so this is a good start. The sails and rigging are well done, even though they look a bit "improvised" - which is the case more often than not for selfmade sails in my opinion. I assume the mast was done this way for stability reasons, but it looks odd compared to the rest of the boat. My main suggestion for the future is about presentation in the forums though: you can embed pictures directly into the post by simply copy-pasting its image link in there you can then resize the image however you want, simply double-click on the picture and work it out in the pop-up window if your build is directly related to the BotBS game, its thread should be in the BotBS subforum Looking forward to more models from you, keep going!

I got into Lego Space with Blacktron II - which I only learned about as "Blacktron II" many years later, as for me it was just Blacktron at the time. While there is some obvious nostalgia going on, I still prefer the era II designs when it comes to the ships (the minifigs were much more bland in coparison). Of course the design change was massive - other than the name they kept nothing. So your point stands, and I agree that Lego would have almost unlimited freedom in terms of design for new or even remade space themes. I just wish they would bring it on!

LEGO Hidden Side 2020

I would be happy about some "regular" ghost figures as well.
