  1. Agreed. Each one has had a public transport vehicle as one of the highlights - single decker bus in 2014, orange tram in 2016, and double decker bus in 2018. Wonder what this one will be...
  2. 5 projects have now qualified already for the next review: The Mountain Windmill by Hanwasyellowfirst Community - Greendale Community College by bulldoozer21 (Both already mentioned) Brickwest Studios by Bricky_Brick (Creator of The Pirate Bay) Lego HeroQuest by KingGloriousSquirrel House from Up by bramant1 That’s 5 in 20 days! With this many already, at this rate there could be the same number of projects again qualify, or more! Also, with 26 projects qualifying for review, how many do you think will be accepted - in the past on smaller reviews it’s normally about 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 I think, which would mean 4 or 5 become sets.
  3. We obviously don’t know if it can take power functions yet, but if it can, would be interested to see if lights can be fitted like they could be on EN, HE and nearly all City trains. I’m also wondering if there are enough dark green pieces in TLG’s catalogue to replicate the exact locomotive in dark green as well.
  4. This has got me seriously hyped up - I’ve been hoping for a train but thought that that period was over. What annoys me most about TLG producing trains is that it isn’t because they don’t sell well that they produce so few, but because they don’t sell as well as others. And this thread alone shows the support for trains is out there - almost 2 pages on 1 thread in 15 hours.
  5. I’d be interested to see - WV is part of Creator Expert, but definitely the lower end. With the demise of Creator Expert, will this be in the 18+ range? As sets with lots of play features, open backs, and simpler than modulars (although more complex than City) could they fail to qualify in TLG’s eyes as 18+ sets?
  6. Agreed - on the Deep Sea at least. Hopefully next year we’ll see something different rather than redoing a previously done subtheme. Volcano was the least good in the first wave, and I honestly don’t want a return. Of all of them, it’s the least realistic by some margin. Wouldn’t mind some sort of African desert/plains exploration - animal moulds would be awesome there. That’s another problem with the volcano stuff - the absence of animals of any kind.
  7. Honestly pretty disappointed with the new city sets. The vast majority of my City stuff (70 sets) is from 2004-2015, with a few exceptions of more recent sets. I remember when the sets weren’t made up of panels, and as a result, the ppp was a lot better. Plus, of course it was cheaper. In my opinion, Creator has become like the old City - models made out of lots of smaller pieces, but still minifigure scale. Old Creator wasn’t normally minifig scale, and that’s jut gone now. The best City sets were ones such as 2009’s garage - over 900 pieces, and built on 2 16x32 baseplates and 1 8x16 baseplate. At the moment, every subtheme that gets released in City has appeared before, and the older version was better in my opinion. 2015’s Deep Sea Exploration is one of my favourite subthemes, but I won’t be buying this unfortunately. Airport is another good example, as is Arctic Exploration, Space, Fire, Police, and 60097 City Square was better than Capital City. The best version always came out between about 2008 and 2015. Anyway, there’s no point lamenting over the past, but I’ll always prefer the 2004-15 period to 2016-Present. The golden age of City is, in my opinion, over. If I get any, it’ll be the underwater exploration base, and only because I missed the last one. The others just aren’t particularly good, and are overpriced.
  8. ‘Caribbean Clipper’ just peaked 8K supporters, but won’t become a set because of the extremely recent Black Seas Barracuda, built to almost the exact same design. Bricky_Brick’s ‘Sword of the Seas’, between 5k and 6k, is in a similar position. However, Brickwest Studios looks awesome and will make the next review, so looking forward to that. I hope that that at least becomes a set. Have any designers had 2 sets made for CUUSOO/IDEAS?
  9. Excellent choice. I remember unwrapping this set at Christmas in 2009 - it came as a total surprise but I loved it. I got the tow truck as well, but was a kid at the time and didn’t have much cash, missing out on the helicopter transport. 2009 was possibly the best year for City - the farm, the garage, and the construction site all in one year!
  10. That’s really nice as a banner for this forum, plus it’s unbiased (simply a set rather than a particular person’s MOC). The Emerald Night is presented on the box at night, and I’m assuming is a nighttime express, so would a night sky be better? Anyway, awesome job, looking forward to seeing this in use in the near future.
  11. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/1e2c362e-43ab-4f8c-8340-6b7b13cd14de Community - Greendale Community College is the second set to reach 10K for the second 2020 review.
  12. Agreed. Some of my favourite city sets come from 2009 (Construction Site, Garage) plus there was 2007’s LEGO City Harbour - I believe the only set ever released with that size of unitary hull. The crawler crane was another great set from that period, and that 2008 police station was possibly their best one. Since the removal of baseplates those police stations have gone downhill.
  13. I think that there’s probably going to be one for buildings - Taj Mahal, Old Trafford, Big Ben, Tower Bridge etc. Hogwarts is pretty standalone as an Expert level set, as outside Star Wars there’s hardly any licensed adult stuff. With the new Star Wars helmets, I hope to see a return of sculpture type sets outside of star wars, such as the old Statue of Liberty, LEGO Minifigure, and LEGO Dragon from around the year 2000. Also, I have no idea how long they have been there and if they’ve been mentioned here or not, but if you go onto Brickset and filter to 2020 Creator Expert, the sets 10274-10277 have been added with no details, as well as 40409. Looks like a pretty good year for Creator Expert even if it’s not branded like that... the most Expert sets in one year previously was 6 in 2010. Including 40409, this is 9! I’m assuming one is WV, plus 1 non standard vehicle (plane, train, space?) plus 2 I have no clue. Could be a VE Day 75 tie-in?
  14. Pretty sure it comes immediately after the next review results come out - at the bottom of every review results blog post it says something along the lines of ‘next in review:’ with the projects displayed below. On the subject of when the next review results come out, I can’t find an exact date but the first comments on the Third 2018 Review Results post are all 11 months ago, as is the YouTube video. This would imply an early June announcement. 26 projects have reached 10K supporters, and I predict that it will reach 30 before the next review results come.
  15. Congrats ExeSandbox! Don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m expecting this to be chosen when it’s reviewed. It got 10k supporters in 42 days (6 weeks) and to me looks like the type of build that loads of people will buy - a memory from their childhood recreated in LEGO. Congrats again to the builder and I hope to see this on the shelves in about a year!
  16. Really not surprised - this is an amazing build - but 42 days is impressive (that’s 6 weeks!). Congratulations!
  17. Supported! Plus his other two projects as well! (Though this is his best imho).
  18. A fantastic rendition of Sir Francis Haddock’s ‘Unicorn’! I personally own all 24 of these books (plus two in French!) and this particular model is fantastic! I would be interested to see the pirates as well, of course with Red Rackham added in as the Pirate Captain.
  19. Amazing MOC! And checking IDEAS, 460 supporters in 24 hours is pretty impressive! This should become a set in my opinion, and if anything might, I’d guess this has a higher chance than the vast majority.
  20. Yeah, I was thinking that too. The rollercoaster also appears on the first three boxes but not its own, so this would seem logical? https://candidbricks.com/2018/06/14/the-next-fairground-set-maybe/ This website gives some pretty good ideas, even though it’s 18 months old.
  21. I guess that makes sense. Does that mean we’re going to get an air show similar to last time’s one.
  22. Since when was the airport fun?
  23. Though I find both of these unlikely to become sets, the fact that we’ve now had at least 4 train related IDEAS sets reach 10000 (Modular Train Station, Vintage Tram, Toronto Rocket, Train Station : Studgate) should hopefully make them realise that people will buy an Expert set. That said, I’ll always want a steam train more than a diesel or electric train, ESPECIALLY a subway train (unless it’s a London Underground train).
  24. Updated train wash would be cool cos the last one was pre 2000. Wouldn’t mind a signal box either, preferably with actual control rather than just decorative.
  25. Was just about to say that myself! I would love to see the Mallard or the Rocket
