LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
60154 of course! I forgot it even though I own it ! Rapid transit would be good - and I want a bendy bus! It’s true about underrated subthemes - when has there been a post office under City branding? And medical only comes out every 6 years. My favourite subthemes of the past have all been practically stopped - Construction, Harbour, Transport, and the changes to trains in recent years, from so many to so few, is painful to say the least. Still can’t understand the absence of a train station with 60197/8 - I would guess it was cancelled because of the absence of any set 60199, but why? -
REVIEW | Creator Expert 10273 Haunted House
Vilhelm22 replied to VBBN's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nice review! Looking forward to placing this next to the roller coaster, carousel and Ferris wheel in my city. Btw the wheels on the back are, I’m pretty sure, to absorb the energy of the drop. They transfer the ‘gravitational potential energy’ of the dropping car to kinetic energy in the wheels, that use it up spinning, thus greatly decreasing the speed and preventing the drop car crashing to the ground. Sorry to sound nerdy - I did physics in school and remembered really rather a lot... -
My best guess is L size, because the noses are 5 wide and PF L motors are 3 wide, so one in each end would be completely enclosed. Apparently the new motor is 88013. 88012 and 88014 have also been said to come this year (see Brickset), so I expect an extension cable, L and XL motors.
-
I wasn’t saying that I wanted one - I was agreeing with Duq about a previous comment that said they expected a B-model. Duq, in response, basically said it ain’t gonna happen, and I agreed with that. The way I imagine it, there’s a motor in each nose, which work in sync using the app.
-
Agreed. Has there ever been a Creator Expert set with a B model?

New to 9v trains... or trains for that matter

Nice! Looking forward to it! And when actually thinking about it, I can understand that you may have a lot on your plate in this situation and a banner on a trains forum on Eurobricks isn’t your top priority !
-
Very nice - and looking forward to the instructions. Over in the 10277 thread there’s been massive complaint about the lack of any form of rolling stock - this MOC is exactly what people need!
-
Agreed - it’s limiting, but if you don’t have time or money or whatever - then you can’t - it’s as simple as that. Not everyone is in the perfect position of not working and having made millions.
-
Don’t want to sound impatient but I thought that this would be quite a quick process - when will it be up?
-
Nice! Never understood why LEGO stopped producing doors of all kinds on trains - just basic additions that would improve these sets so much! And the observation car is awesome - why not try one of these? Lego 60051 baggage carriage

Amazing! When the Disney train came out, I remember being pretty disappointed, as it didn’t look right. I decided not to get it - though it looks like you’re changing my mind...

[MOC] Frisco #1501 (4-8-2 Mountain Type)
Vilhelm22 replied to legonerd54321's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I’ve been watching this for almost the entire time, though not commenting, and I can really see how much you’ve progressed. This is an amazing MOC - congratulations! -
The Promobricks article said July 1st as a Lego exclusive.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I know it’s not IDEAS, but in the new 18+ range a brown Swiss crocodile locomotive has been leaked - see the trains forum, where there’s major excitement! It’s obvious that Lego does take some notice of failed entries, as over the years on IDEAS I have seen many renditions of this particular locomotive. Failed IDEAS projects: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/b100be81-413e-4aa8-98f2-f2c68354f5ed https://ideas.lego.com/projects/899ca545-49a5-4102-aef8-154bb71ac6ea Leaked official set 10277: https://www.instagram.com/p/CAkKfP5pQJZ/?hl=en Just two models entered on IDEAS (pretty sure there were more), and now LEGO is making one themselves. Really goes to show if enough people enter projects on one thing, even if not IDEAS, it can still happen. -
The only reasons I can come up with are A) There are too many parts in the set that don’t yet exist in dark green or B) One of 10274-10276 is mainly dark green themed.

Agreed. Realistically, this would have probably 20-30 identical cars - both pricey and boring. It’s a lot better with none, or one additional car which you can buy however many times, and Lego has gone for the safer option.
-
The only given price is, I believe, €100, not USD$100. With the current state of the economy, that’s just under USD$110, so I would expect CAD$150, AUD$170, and GBP£90.
-
No offence, but you’ve restricted yourself hugely there. MOCing just needs practice - I was terrible when I started. Also, I don’t know how big your physical Lego collection is, but it’s a lot easier to MOC high quality physical stuff than on LDD or similar programs. Just have an idea and give it a try - you’ll be able to come up with something better than City coaches no problem, as they are extremely basic and have no texture or anything the majority of the time.

On the last released Expert train front, I agree with you. The Winter Holiday train wasn’t of the standard of HE, EN, and Maersk, and Disney Train is, IMHO, a completely separate thing. Though I believe HE was in 2013, not 2012 I think some people who are Lego fans but aren’t necessarily train fans will also but this too, simply as an Expert display vehicle, alongside things like Apollo 11 Lunar Lander (Also minifigure scale, and also has a display base).

Amazing build! And the fact that it’s only your second MOC is even more impressive! Estimated piece count?

Awesome MOC! The shaping is unusual and impressive - it is in no way a basic square Lego house! On the topic of colours, if you give the exterior a more black/white look, any other colours are even more contrasting than on greys or browns. As the exterior is rather black/grey/white/brown oriented, why not try giving lots of colour to the interior. To be fair, there’s probably quite a lot in there but the pictures make it hard to see. But if lack of colours dissuades possible supporters, then making the interior pop can improve it.

I can tell this is an incredibly small model built in an extremely short space of time. Joking - this is a colossus of LEGO skyscrapers that obviously took hours and hours of your time. Congratulations on such an amazing build, and the others, particularly the Gare de Lyon, are also impressive.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Nice. As a trains fan (I’m seriously hyped about 10277!) I was hoping for a tram, but wasn’t going to get my hopes up. Plus, the last passenger train/tram which we had which had yellow as a main colour I can think of is Cargo Railway 4559 (1996), released before I was born. I don’t count the Super Chief, as yellow is one of the 3 main colours and only appears on the locomotive. Looking forward to integrating this, as I missed 60097. As often, I agree with you. In my city at the moment I’ve got nowhere near enough buses, and more cargo trains than passenger trains. In a city, it’s just not realistic. We need more sets like 8404.
