Of course - I was forgetting that. It irritates me so much - if I was to work out how much I’d paid TLG in VAT, I wonder how much I could buy...?
-
I guess where it’s most well known they can charge the highest price. This could in part also explain the low price in the US (it’s $100, despite €1 equalling $1.12).

10277 is now officially on the LEGO S@H website. The only unknown major price was GBP, and it’s £89.99 (which was expected). It also says ‘Coming Soon on July 1st’ - this was basically confirmed but is now absolutely confirmed. The video on S@H includes the crocodile motorised and moving at quite a slow speed. You can also see that there’s 1 brick of space between the top of the PU hub and the roof - enough to fit a PF plug, meaning that the PU to PF conversion should be incredibly easy.

@Pdaitabird I’ve only just come across your thread, but this train is amazing! I’m British, so this sort of train is very recognisable - there’s a heritage steam railway quite close to my house as well. Anyway, this is an amazing steam shunter - congratulations! It’s very hard to get that much detail into a small locomotive - especially on the many stripes and curves of British trains. Looking forward to your next train....

Out of interest, I know it’s a long way off, but what do people think the next D2C will be (2022)? I feel like Hogwarts Express is likely.
-
If you really want to get specific, Borgin & Burkes isn’t actually on Diagon Alley, but Knockturn Alley, a dingy side street.
-
You know if you paste a link into Google Translate it translates the entire page? I don’t understand German, but there’s so much on LEGO in German on the web that I regularly use this. It isn’t a problem. I just read the review (translated to English) and though not about the actual train, there were two things I really noted. Firstly, the two semicircles on the box to open it? I thought that this was Expert type, and all sets would be sealed like on big sets. Secondly, the reviewer points out that on the base, the ends are removable so you can add more track, implying more trains in the future. This is very positive, so definitely shows continuation of this subtheme. Also, there was speculation a while back about how the red parts on the top of the cab were done. They are part 88704 but brand new for this set in red. Anyway @Anio thanks very much for the awesome in depth review! Looking forward to it even more now that I’ve seen fan pictures rather than just the official ones.

I’ve been thinking... The D2C Hogwarts came out in 2018, and a D2C Diagon Alley is confirmed for 2020. If this line continues, can we expect a D2C Hogwarts Express in 2022? These sets need to be ones which appear in most if not all the films (I’m putting DH parts 1&2 together here), so to me a D2C Hogwarts Express is ideal, and right now I’m struggling to think of a suitable other.

Yes! Glad you share my opinion on these two trains. Being British, both of these are from and are now preserved in my country. I’ve seen both - two truly amazing trains with amazing histories. Though you may not realise it, the Rocket is tiny - if made into a set I would want 2-3 L&MR carriages (they’re so small - can you call them coaches?) as well. By the way @Murdoch17 somebody checked out the Crocodile in dark green (the other realistic colour) and unfortunately not all parts exist in that colour. The 2x8x1 slope definitely doesn’t. It’s a couple of pages back I think. @legonerd54321 I doubt it as I’m pretty sure VIP would start sort of tomorrow. Finished addressing other people, now me :) I personally am completely hyped about this. It’s now official and the new pictures make it look even more impressive! And Jamie Berard’s message is definitely encouraging - I’m hoping for more famous trains in the future, though I don’t expect wagons or coaches, except possibly on a tiny Rocket type Era 1 locomotive. Anyway, the best information I’ve heard in my 3 years on Eurobricks, and can’t wait for release. I missed all 3 others, so this is my first Expert type train (I don’t count WHT or DT&S) - though I still need to pick up Sydney Opera House from Bricklink... Vilhelm22

I feel really embarrassed now to admit that I’ve known about this for a couple of months . . . Guess I just assumed one of the many train fans on here would have mentioned it already. Anyway, moving on quickly. I’m definitely looking forward to it for the MOCs, even if only as a base model from which to expand considering it’s 6 wide judging by the cover. I’m hoping that it doesn’t get cancelled like @JopieK mentioned books have in the past - by the way which books have?
-
This is awesome! Congratulations on an amazing layout! I remember seeing the extreme 9v layout a year or so ago on EB, but this is even more impressive! How many trains have you got on your layout?

Yeah I see that now. OK, SEK1229 is: £104.40 €117.31 $133.42 Rounding this, I would guess £100, €110, $130. From stuff I’ve learned in the past, I believe that products in Sweden are generally quite expensive, so I’ve decided to round down.

Just came across this through a link in the 10277 discussion thread. This is one of those MOCs which I think really deserves all the praise it gets - it truly is amazing. The most impressive MOCs, I find, are ones where at first glance you can’t tell if it’s LEGO or not. Trains, I find, are also especially difficult. You have created a train MOC that doesn’t look like LEGO - a particularly impressive MOC in my mind. Also - what part do you use for the lights? Not the main topic of this thread, but another amazing MOC. I inherited a load of model trains, including one of these in HO scale, so I can compare it - but mine’s not in the best condition. It’s pretty vintage, plus it survived a house flood, so is not in the best condition...

Nice to know! I wonder if 88013 goes in the cab or the nose? If it’s the nose, will the two noses be distinctly different designs on the interior?
-
Thank you! Credit goes to @dim_bricks for this but as somebody else requested it and more to come will I’m gonna share the link he sent me: https://www.blocket.se/annons/flera platser/forboka_lego_creator_expert_krokodillok_10277/90332454 Also, for those interested, 983 Swedish Krone is: US$107.09 £84.07 €94.42 From this, I think we can expect either £85 in the UK (same as Lunar Lander and Harley) which would give €90 and US$100, or £80 which would give €80 and $90.
-
Could you link that seller? And it may be 2 July with 1 July S@H release.
-
No definitely not. It’s literally just out of stock, not discontinued. Others would know and it would have been mentioned elsewhere. Plus, it’s in stock in the UK. Anyway, where I am it’s nearly always cheaper elsewhere - for City sets, I rarely buy straight from S@H. On another note, it’s really good news in a way that it’s going out of stock - it shows TLG that there is still demand for trains, and that making more could be worth it. The absence of any large station (7997, 7937, 60050) 2018 and red cargo/heavy haul trains 2019 equivalents really annoy me.
-
Where’s this rumour from? And I’m honestly struggling to think of a single 2nd of the month release ever - the 1st is far more likely.

Amazing! What are the dimensions in studs?

[MOC] 2' gauge petrol-powered industrial switcher
Vilhelm22 replied to SteamSewnEmpire's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ah that makes sense, especially after your comment I saw on that one posted on the front page. Btw, despite their versatility, I would actually suggest not using magnets here - they look disproportionately large, and would make the wagons ridiculous expensive for their size. I suggest instead you use the ball joints, similar to the narrow gauge train in the 4204 Mine. Part 15456 and Part 63082. -
[MOC] 2' gauge petrol-powered industrial switcher
Vilhelm22 replied to SteamSewnEmpire's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Haha yeah. Btw this shape reminds me of those small trains in Thomas the Tank Engine - all the narrow gauge red ones operated by the Thin Controller. I’ve read the books to my much younger brother in the past enough times to know quite a lot about Thomas the Tank Engine. -
[MOC] Ford Mustang 1964
Vilhelm22 replied to Bartonius's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Congratulations - an amazing MOC! Would love a pic of it and the Mustang set. -
Awesome! Those 1960s Mercedes were some of the most beautiful cars ever produced IMO - the 280SL and the 220SE. This MOC also fits perfectly with the DB5 and the Mustang - amazing job!
