  1. So, the products in question were tie-in merchandise licensed to other companies through TLG and WB? Stuff such as backpacks, stationary, themed bedroom decor, and the like?
  2. So at least one tie-in set/product had been already developed? Did he actually see it, or did he only hear about it from others?
  3. We know that, but @J4ck and I were trying to figure out what canopy part is instead seen in the preliminary box art he posted a page ago: Doesn't look like the same part if you ask me.
  4. Well, the only other canopy part I think of when looking at that preliminary box art is this one, which hasn't been seen since 2002 and therefore is presumably extinct.
  5. Someone from Warner Brothers, The Lego Group, or neither of those? Did they have any knowledge on at least the basic premise of this enigmatic movie?
  6. Maybe designers decided to reserve a Dark Red take on the Express for a potential D2C incarnation of the locomotive and its coaches. Something for the future, perhaps?
  7. Does anyone here figure that the new passenger train assembly for the front could be utilized for a future train set for the Friends theme? To me, the piece seems like it could stylistically accommodate the aesthetic of the theme, more so than the one utilized for 2014's Passenger Train.
  8. What a lovely collection of minifigure-scaled motorcars! I love how the newer cut-corner 1×2 how adds just the right amount of tapering to the front fenders. What about the Town subforum?
  9. So I hear that @L@go may have the chance to interview some TLG designers while there! New Elementary - Fan Media Days Are Approaching!
  10. No, by all means, thanks a lot for clarification! I just looked up the two brand logos featured on Wikipedia... Does it look like this canopy part to you? Because, if it was...
  11. Check out @Ashnflash's latest custom CMS, based upon Batman: The Animated Series! By modern literature, do you mean anything published during the twentieth century and upwards to now? Sure, that's the beauty of the traditional Collectable Minifigure line, as it's composed of archetypes rather than specific, named characters.
  12. Nah, the normal DC Comics logo has just been religated to the bottom right-hand corner were the Batman logo should be instead. The Batman logo is branding for merchandise for the Rocksteady Arkham series of videogames, and I feel that they're just trying to emphasize that with the prominent branding to convince you that this is the Arkham Knight Batmobile. Because really, I wouldn't think that was the Arkham Batmobile unless they told me (claimed) it was. That was a pretty drastic press release mistake. Not only that, but the preliminary box art shows a pretty different looking build. Now I'm wondering if there was supposed to be a newly recolored Trans-Red canopy after all, because even that looks different I think. Am I just blissfully imagining that's a different canopy? Sure, gunmetal grey Fright Knight shields.
  13. Actually, the RC Arkham Batmobile will be the fourth set since 2014 to feature the canopy in that color: Bricklink - Windscreen 6×6×2 Canopy (87606) Yes, but have you also seen that blog's latest post? New Elementary - Fan Media Days Are Approaching! Apparently, those at New Elementary are sending over Are J. Heiseldal (a.k.a. @L@go) to Billund, Denmark to potentially talk with Lego designers/design teams; so, New Elementary would like readers to submit any questions they may have so Are may ask those questions to designers attending! The nighttime backlighting looks pretty cool!
  14. How well acquainted are you with the work of set designers and/or design teams assigned to the development of other themes and product lines? Is each design team's work-in-development kept confidential from other design teams? Did you ever work with Warner Brothers during the pre-production of any of their three cinematic Lego Movies released so far? Are you working with them currently on the pre-production of either one of their next upcoming entries into Lego's cinematic film franchise? What do you think about the idea of "L-Gauge" locomotives being done for the "Three-In-One" Creator line, perhaps as an alternative to Expert series train sets? As of 2017, we have seen four automobiles done for the Creator Expert theme, including 2014's Mini Cooper, 2015's Ferrari F40, 2016's Volkswagen Beetle, and 2017's London Double-Decker Bus, which have all so far been of non-American vehicles. So, does there happen to be any reason for this? Have European models been found to have a broader, more global appeal over American models? Thanks! Do you perhaps have any other questions that you didn't have a chance to ask last year?
  15. Sure, but I was particularly thinking that we could potentially see this part used on a passenger train set for the Friends theme sometime in the future.
  16. I somewhat wonder if this new front assembly for the locomotive was designed for a future with the Friends theme in mind, given its much softer look compared to the front assembly utilized for 2014's passenger train.
  17. Alright, but hey, it may be promising! Here's to hoping you'll find a future as a part designer for TLG!
  18. I really love the one seen in the third picture of that selection!
  19. Last year, I remember seeing the price-to-part ratio for Technic's 42065 RC Tracked Racer and thought that was rather silly, especially for such a sparse looking build. But, upon seeing the price tag for this... Still, even if I ignore that factor, it is a rather strange build aesthetically speaking. It's even stranger though when you consider that Lego is selling this as an RC Batmobile that is supposed to be representing the one seen in the Arkham Knight videogame.
  20. How and why was the Fairground line chosen as a reoccurring subtheme of Creator Expert sets? Also, was there a reason that we didn't see a Fairground themed set in 2016? Given the broad nature of the Creator theme as a whole, understandably, the line can cover a wide range of subjects as source material for sets. But, is there any theme or subject that the Creator theme couldn't or wouldn't possibly ever cover? If so, why? Why was the Creator Expert theme's last train set (2013's Horizon Express) chosen to be modeled after a European TVG high speed train? Were there any other candidates for inspiration strongly considered at the time when contemplating the next Creator Expert train set? Were there any particular reasons that 2016's Volkswagen Beetle was chosen to be built primarily in the color Dark Azure?
  21. I do have two particular questions pertaining to Technic that I hope could be asked someday: While the Technic theme has primarily focused upon real-life source material, have there ever been any recent exploration into developing sets based upon more, say, fantastic source material? For instance, would sets based upon a sci-fi inspired moon buggy or Mars exploration vehicle ever be or have been considered? What about inspirational source material cited from the Mecha and Steampunk genres, particularly for instance? Have licensed properties besides automobile brands ever been considered in more recent history as source material for sets? For instance, would something like, say, a Technic Batmobile ever happen; and if so, would it be branded under the Technic theme, or the licensed theme that already exists for the property?
  22. Alright, thanks! By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what's your position at TLG?
