Lego UCS-MOC: Batman™ Arkham Knight ''Batmobile''
Brickadier General replied to Hass Kabal's topic in LEGO Licensed
So far, this has been the case, and they even mention on the Ideas site that the odds of making sets (of already licensed properties) is lower. I guess this is because they don't want to over-saturate the market with a licensed property already under their watch (or don't want to make a product that competes with a similar set). I think this set might have a good chance if the UCS Tumbler sales are strong and if the Tumbler is retired before the project reaches 10,000 supporters. I hope this does well, as it's a slick build! Hi Haas Kabal, Reaching out to Batman fans is the hardest part. I have a Batman project on LEGO Ideas, too, and I have contacted many, many blogs. A few have responded, but most have not. Don't give up. I think lots of people will love your project. Since your project is from the video game, Arkham Knight, you might want to try this Arkham Knight fan forum: http://forums.arkhamverse.com/ Good luck! -
This is a different approach to the construction site, and I really like what you have here. The tree is a nice touch. I noticed some beer on the job...hopefully they are done for the day and won't be operating heavy machinery. ;-)

Sounds like fun. I think I'll have to have a try!

Thank you for your kind words. That was one of the reasons we did the video. I wanted to do the sky to add to the overall dark mood of Batman...and to make the batsignal. My friend Omar actually made two new microfigures for the project: the Penguin and Mr. Freeze!

LEGO - Creator MOC Nostalgic Tram
Brickadier General replied to Hass Kabal's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looks stunning! I love the color scheme and the finished interior. You did a really great job of making it look like the real thing. -
This "mishmashing" of different parts to get a more erratic, natural looking masonry gives this a lot of personality. I know other people have done similar but often wonder how they go about planning these sorts of projects. I'm guessing you set aside all your greys before setting off to build. The base is also interesting to look at. Great work!

I remember both you and this wonderful MOC from BrickFair this year. The photography looks awesome (though not as awesome as the castle itself). ;-) Can't wait to see what you'll come up with next.

Very nice Batmobile. The black and blue go quite nicely together. I know you mentioned being inspired by the Animated Series, but it reminds me of a blend between modern Batman and 1960s Batman (the blue cowl and cape).

Holy cow, that is absolutely gorgeous! An insane amount of detail outside and inside - The photographs of the inside look like they could have been taken in the real theater. The custom lighting inside really makes this pop. Can't overstate how much I love this. :-)

That's a mighty cute hotrod-esque take on the car and a slick facade of the HQ building. I really like the hearse version with the chrome gold trim. It helps the car "pop" a bit more.

BrickWarriors Nov 2015 - New Pirate Pieces!

Love them, especially the little lantern! -
The rally car looks great, and I'm hoping the 1x1 round tiles on the front are printed (they'd be pretty frustrating as stickers).

Sweet build, Simon. I love the "chunkiness" of it. A blimp for the joker is a good fit, considering the time period in which "Batman Begins."
-
Sweet build! Would love to see it in real brick if those pieces ever come in purple. Regarding his belly, have you thought about experimenting with various slopes and hinges?

These look super awesome. I'm a big JP fan, and these don't disappoint. Super detailed!

Build for the LEGO Dimensions toypad and all the sets. WIP

Such a cool idea and well executed! Will you be doing more for the other character universes? -
Wow, your 1st photograph really sells this - Excellent composition! I love the attention to detail, including toying around with perspective by angling the walls like you did. Hope you win!

Thank you for your kind words and for the luck. Regarding the Ideas you mentioned, are you referring to these projects?: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/50007 and https://ideas.lego.com/projects/56745 With Ideas, I realize there isn't any guarantee of any idea going through, even with 10,000. It is very hard to predict what decisions they will make, let alone why they make them. I was very sad that the Jurrassic Park Gate and Ford Explorer (with T-Rex) didn't make it - after having been on Ideas TWICE. It was a great candidate - The only thing I can think is that they are working on a similar thing or have already considered it. Thank you. No need to worry about "dampening the mood." I try not to have high expectations of it becoming a set but have had a lot of fun making the project. Even though none of the Ideas sets released so far have exceeded $60.00, I think that the day of a larger scale Ideas set is coming - Not really so much an issue of "if" as it is "when." Before the Cafe Corner, large scale detailed building sets seemed like a dream, and now they're making the Ghostbusters HQ (a $350 set!). Speaking of Ghostbusters HQ, even though it's not an Ideas set, I don't think we'd be getting it without Ideas. Brent's Ecto 1 served as the foundation. The Ghostbusters firehouse on Ideas was rejected, probably because it was being developed by LEGO. Even though it was rejected, the data collected from the project may have justified taking things further. I'd love to see your microscale Wayne Manor - Micro is nice because you can do a lot in a small space. Don't get hung up on playability. If you wanted, you could always add that later. One thing I did that really helped was listing the types of play features I wanted to include, then making a rough sketch of what I wanted to build and where I though the play features might fit. Think of it like a flexible road map - While you're building, you'll probably think of alternate solutions. Thanks! The Joker truck was actually the most challenging vehicle to make because of trying to balance the color scheme with play functions. The vehicle is based on the one from this 2008 LEGO set http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?S=7888-1#T=S&O={}

You're two years of work paid off! Seriously, you packed a lot of detail in there - I really like the cutaway rock look because that makes it feel more "natural." Looks like it would be a lot of fun to play with, too. I'm coming to your house.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you one of my favorite MOCs as of late, "Mini Battle for the Batcave" (illustrations by flickr user Omar + Kazumi Ovalle). I actually finished this back in August but feel Omar's illustrations made it "pop" even more. I designed the model with playability in mind, so it has 10 play features including: 2 separable modules (Wayne Manor & Batcave), glow-in-the-dark stars, Batwing with working missiles, Joker truck with hidden guns, secret door to Batboat dock, Bruce Wayne, Batman transformation chamber, jail cell, Batwing landing pad, snap-on "Bat Ramp." Other fun details include the trophy room and Batsignal. My main sources of inspiration were the Tim Burton Batman movies and comics, with a little bit of influence from the Animated Series. The Joker ice cream truck is a nod to one featured in one of the original LEGO sets. This was a lot of fun make. If you have any suggestions or ideas, let me know. In particular, I'm interested in making more microscale Batman stuff. What characters and or vehicles would you like to see? This playset is on LEGO Ideas and is a collaborative project between myself and Ideas users, omarovalle (Illustrations) and mreilly44 (Toy Commercial Video) I would add more pictures, but I think my friend's video does the best job of showing the play features in action. The first 40 seconds, or so, is the toy commercial. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did filming it!

This is really nice. Normally, people use magnets to get this type of function...This is different! The pivoting system to make the front wheels turn is a great idea, and the vehicles are well-built.

Queen Elizabeth II and the Gold State Coach
Brickadier General replied to Brickadier General's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks everyone. Thanks. I remembered some past MOCs which used coins as blinders, and they do work well. Getting them to hold under the rubber-band is sometimes tricky. Rog, thank you for your input. I can definitely see what you mean. The carriage sits considerably higher than the horses. Lowering the body would seem the ideal solution and possibly using smaller wheels and painting them gold. I do like your idea of using brick-built horses. Those might allow for more detail. Have you seen Tanotrooper's horses? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43479&pid=763969&st=0entry763969 They are pretty nice!- 13 replies
