42143 - Ferrari Daytona SP3

Weird thing is, I asked an engineering chatroom why a real F1 car gearbox does not have this same issue, i forgot why it does not but it does not. So maybe the same will apply here. -

yeah I would say one harley wheel plus these in white to stop the tire sagging will make for a good steering angle.- 5,466 replies

Hi, following the release of the Lego Technic 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3, I have created a thread that people can use to discuss post their mods. I'll get the ball rolling by posting some of my ideas, athough I am waiting a little longer until I buy the set, of course all of the below ideas might or might not be possible to have at once. Working disc brakes on all 4 wheels. - the new wheels now provide space (as far as I can see) to have some technic parts wrapped around the disk brake wheel hub, HOG steering dial Gear Indicator HOG Gear Change Dial Nose lift HOG DNR dial Movable flaps above the headlights like on the real car Adding linear actuators to the door Adding linear actuators to the engine cover Adding linear actuators to the fronk Optional motorization 4 steered rear wheels (slightly) - yes on one hand its unrealistic to the real car but on the other hand it improves the turning circle and is easy enough to add in. Working LEDs Any more ideas, I will update this post. Let's see what we can do with this beauty!

Won't someone just make a digital version of the book though (in time)? Then again some people just like paper.. -

Every lego app I've tried has just beem a complete and utter nightmare. It could be more awkward to use and so I strongly reccomend the physical bluetooth remotes. I'm not sure if it would gear shift/diff lock but drive and steering should work fine.- 5,466 replies

Hi, Over the past few weeks I have been trying to make a simpler and smaller paddle shifter mechanism by utilising the fairly new 1x2 technic curved "comma" panels. My idea is to use these as pawls in order to step a knob wheel 90 degrees but also to use the pawls as the stepper itself. This would remove a whole lot of un-needed stuff from the sian/ferrari flappy paddle unit. This was neccesary in order to add a flappy paddle shifter to my supercar WIP and also to add to the very space limited 42141 set. I could list everything that gets kicked out of the sians flappy paddle unit but It is probably easier if I just show my current (work in progress) version. As you can see, I am still using a typical dedicated stepper mechanism for now, the paddles work but they don't spring back to their original position, so I am manually pulling them back up. (more detailed explanation in the video descriotion) But, at least when I do manually pull the paddle back up, it does not shift again inadvertently. I could make this a little smaller by flipping the pawls and moving them 2L down so that they are on the same plane as the black 1x5 thin beams. Maybe if I can reduce the backlash inbetween the pawls and the knob wheel, I can add rubber bands to the paddles and that in itself will act as the stepper, thus enabling the stepper in the video to be thrown out. Feedback welcome. Regards, Snipe.

If it also has a flappy paddle shifter (like the real car), I recon the new 1x2 curved technic panels from set 42141 will work with the knob wheels. I've made soo many versions but it either does not shift, shifts but then backshifts, or it shifts but its not strong/reliable enough and it only worked if I used two hands on the paddles else it jams 'foward'. In any case that still does not replace the stepper mechanism which I belive those parts could well do. I used a #2 connector and two 2L beams tied together by rubber bands. Hopefully someone might crack it soon, in the meantime ill keep trying. I actually needed a small paddle shift mechanism for my ultimate 42142 MOD. Regards, Snipe -

I was just thinking that, I hope to test this one day. I do know that the inline clutch fits in the toothed half of a mini turntable, but it petrides like 1.2L which is hard to work with.- 5,466 replies

I hope they have pinholes so you can pin them to the technic disc brake wheel hubs directly. wheels should not have embedded pins :( -

I think its just a friction join with pin and then the new 1x2x2 brick with pinhole and friction socket. so, something on this page connected to this if not check these 3 sets: https://brickset.com/sets/containing-design-79505- 5,466 replies

not exactualy breaking news but 4L gear rack plates in white in the new 21058 The Great Pyramid of Giza set. Also the light yellow technic ring 11L comes in white now too. (77017)- 5,466 replies

Moving Mindstorms back to Technic
SNIPE replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm all for this idea, Also we didn't get RCX/NXT/EV3 in official sets but now we get Powered up/Control+ in official sets, including in Technic sets, so there is a lot more overlap now. The "robotics sets" of today is just recolored and rebranded existing parts (including electronic parts).
