  1. Yeah the "convertable roof" on this model is garbage, all too common unfortunatley especially since kids ruined youtube. At least the community here cares and is helping to MOD your set, not many people would get that much support on modding a MOC!. I, TBH was a little misleaded by the video and uploaded it a bit too quickly, I thought it was a mechanical or electromechanical roof and doors. I may take it down after all unless the door locks are of interest to anyone?. @astyanax I am actually half way through building this set, had to do a lego parts order too I love the 3d instructions though some parts are missing. Regards, Snipe
  2. Not sure if this is allowed here but I noticed that some brand has made what looks like a spyder model of basically the same design (?): - video removed, the CADA model has locking doors after all - If this is not allowed on the forum lemmme know and I'll take it down. This reply is not an advocation of lego knock off brands or the theft of designs, it is simply to demonstrate the possibility of (officially) modding the original set into a convertable without ripping it's existing features out. It also has door locks which the original doesn't. This set is at least an easy way for us to make a more official spyder version though I would want a proper motorized folding convertable hard top like on @Jeroen Ottens PF tribute car, so we would probably have to make the gearbox more flat like on the sian to make room. Regards, snipe
  3. This is way better now actually. No more half/studdee pins right?
  4. Me, and I really want a pimp my centenario rebrickable page because I have both the pista and this. I am also making an algorithm that searches an ldraw model and makes part substitutions which make more space in order to be able to add mods, reduce weight, build time, build complexity, and cost. So it would be cool to see it optimise this MOC.
  5. What if you didn't want the purpendicular connectors to pull away from the 2L axle joiner.
  6. Like this: But just holding the red part on by studs is not strong... please ignore the yellow pins sticking out and just treat the part as having yellow embadded studs on. Maybe theres a better way to do this like 1L embedded bars which can go inside of pins. But some pins dont have barholes. I guess there is no perfect answer but the lego way should be to make a part that is as compatable as possible other other lego parts. Also I think theres a new semi-technic mixer drum mould:
  7. Oh, I see now. Only slight problem is you can't put the 2x3 panel extenders inbetween your part and the 2x3x7 panel curved. One solution to that would to put studs instead of stud holes on your part then use a half pin to connect the 2x3x7 curved panel to the other side of the 2x3 panel extenders. This is because lego does not make a 2L pin with stud and no center stop.
  8. I assume the top pins are embedded into the part, where as the bottom pins are just normal 1.5L pins as seperate parts?
  9. A left and right 45 degree panel (which equals 90 degrees when both used) would be nice to fill in these sorts of gaps. The axle is how you might connect the two 45 degree panels to themselves, vertically, but a pin would be better. They would connect to existing panels using side pins as usual. The vertical pin or axle would at least allow you to make other angles too, but with a gap. TBH though I dont care about body panels, I care about more functional elements like gears connectors or alternating hole beams.
  10. YES I WAS RIGHT SPRINGS ALL ROUND!!!!
  11. I just realized, the new BMW M1000 (42130) front shocks should fit inside of the linear actuator holders.
  12. I think I see a part that is slightly diagonal near the rear, so I hope it is a spring. Good to get 6 of those tires.
  13. they need to still drive the engine though and at least its pendular with balloon-ish tyres and springs.
  14. That new windscreen will look phenomenal as the cockpit canopy of a creator expert style jet
  15. Loving this set Am I right in saying that the blue spring compresses but the real spring is inside of the assembly. Those front springs will probably never be used in any other set unfortunatley due to their massive length and thickness The new wheel hubs are ok but the pin holes will prevent a cv joint from pivoting and also the mounting bracket for the spring means that the hub wont fit inside of some recessed rims. I'll definetley be buying this though.
  16. those wheels and tires must be HUGE.
  17. The old 2L drive ring does not work with the new differential like that unfortunatley Heres one way to do it: LDR file You might want to clamp down the shifter ring more and maybe have 3 planes of gears instead of just 28 to 20 (two planes) I even managed to fit in the gear rack, engine and winch: I just used an 8 tooth gear as a dial to move the orange changeover catch but you could probably fit in a bevel gear pair instead.
  18. Fabulous parts usage. I have done the same trick with those harley davidson rear tyres for a modern 8462 set im working on. How did you make room to fit those huge rare lego shock absorbers in?
  19. Would be cool. The best I could do was using the teal parts and white body panels from the robot inventor set. Functions could be: steering, drive with rear differential, working V6 engine, and rear lift for the stretcher trolleyes/stretchers. And if I wanted to be ambitious: flashing lights/soundbrick. IDK how interesting that would be tthough for technic.
  20. Anyone who speaks russian know if they are frictionless or frictioned red half pins? Thanks,
  21. Yes, this 2x2 fork is an easy way to get a 0.5L offset especially when axles are in integer sizes and the pole reverser handle has no pin hole. This fork could use more friction in the axle holes though
