  1. I got a lot of older instructions for this use case, but as a "train nut" I got me the following ones: Idea Book 7777 - very cool ideas, but the car loading facility on pages 22 to 23 is awesome, something I do want to have on my layout 4552 - the welding equipment looks cool and would give a nice impression in a workshop or garage 4557 - the container crane is nice, has some parallels to the one from set 7823, maybe do a crossover from both with folding boom? (the truck somehow is very disappointing) 4564 - the red dumper wagon looks cool, might rebrick it, but it definitely has to be a tad longer 7745 - maybe a rebuild of that train with newer parts? haven't decided yet... and loads of other numbers I couldn't get my hands on yet Hard to come by those train doors, nowadays... but I'll want to give a few of these a try.
  2. Maybe because of the rail crossing? I threw away 2 or 3 layouts with the crossing, somehow it just didn't work out the way I wanted... I know it's an expensive piece of track and I do like it very much, but if it's no use, better leave it out
  3. What's the maximum dimensions you have available for your layout? I'm currently designing a layout and first thing was to measure my available space. Afterwards (well, actually right now) I'm fiddling with BlueBrick software, trying out lots of different possibilities I could build on the given space, not taking into account what rails I have on stock. To filter out what I can build with my inventory or with minimum extra cash, that will be my next step. If you have PF and 9V mixed, I would at least build 2 seperate loops, so you can drive both independently.
  4. Well, I'm not sure if it fits here (or maybe it does?), but I'm a train guy so I do like the Sioux.NET on track very much, homepage can be found here: https://siouxnetontrack.wordpress.com/. Even if it's pretty blown up (12x Mindstorms brick ), you could slice it into smaller steps for younger children. Like controlling 2 different trains with a rail crossing (4519 or brickbuilt) and stopping the train whichever reaches it later.
  5. Very sweet, I like the idea and the BMR website very much. Thanks for the effort and keep on expanding!
  6. Hm, somewhat related?
  7. To me, it is very interesting to see a lot of documentaries about the beginnings of LEGO but NOWHERE is ever mentioned that the idea for the LEGO bricks originally came from the Kiddicraft-Blocks. Even the official comic documentary left that very important point out of the whole story... Does this qualify as "Mandela Effect"?
  8. @KikoTube hey there, have been reading your topic on Doktor Brick as well I think the catenary (Stromabnehmer) on that middle wagon look a bit oversized. Maybe you can try to slim it down a bit? Have you adapted the windows yet, like proposed over at Dr. Brick?
  9. The Dad with the baby stroller looks like George Lucas... I'm wondering, where is the new piece on the baby stroller? The space seat (that big black part) has been there before...
  10. Yepp, that'd be nice. There are instructions for bolting-on DCC onto 9V motors, but as all my precious babys are in working condition, I'm not ready to sacrify one yet. Maybe when the first one gives up the ghost... PF motor + DCC conversion And then, when all is set for DCC, control it by IOT means like @alican.
  11. Family Villa and Modern House sound good. Too bad there are no pictures for these sets. Given the price, the "Vacation to the Lido" seems to be a smaller set. Maybe a vehicle, 2 to 3 minifigs and some pool accessories like a diving board, sunshade and a lounger?
  12. Thanks a lot for shedding a light on this. As the LGOe is located on the opposite side of Austria, I guess I'll try my luck in Bavaria, Bricking Bavaria in Munich is much nearer my hometown
  13. Someone likes Blade Runner The bluescreens on the back billboard is a nice detail.
  14. Hell, I can't wait until August ... takes much too long. But I'm excited that they try to market stuff like this to a younger and more open audience than with WeDo 2.0. Nice features indeed.
  15. Yeah, what leaked picture? Btw, that explanation of Legend of Chima is hilarious, I'm laughing my megablocks off
  16. Impressive collection. Too bad it didn't get any love these last two decades
  17. Errr.... I guess we do have a little misunderstanding here. What I was trying to say is: the mere fact that I (for me) cannot tell that the little Micro train has very much of a similarity to the one from the LEGO ideas program. There are so many different styles of steam trains out there that I fail to see any connection of these two (besides being steam trains). It is indeed true, I do like electrical or diesel engines more than steam trains. But that still doesn't make me a steam train hater... I'd love to have a decent one (for a fair price) in my collection. So, if LEGO is going to release another good looking steamer like the EN, I will definitely get it. I just missed the EN because of my Dark Age and nowadays it is on the "Too pricey, cannot afford" stack
  18. Oh well, this explains a lot. I'm tempted to state that some males don't even fully develop it until they die I'm sorry for having not a thing to contribute. Just wanted to drop my thanks, as my little one just had his 3rd birthday and is more and more interested in LEGO parts than his DUPLO stuff (Hell, this is going to be problematic for the LEGO owner... aka me). It's interesting how people try to tackle the building experience with their children and maybe I can learn a little bit here and there.
  19. A bit underwhelming... Just the fact that you get 3 minifigs makes it an "Average" to me (for the fact that it makes the price a bit more bearable), otherwise I would have given it a "Below Average".
  20. Definitely a must-have, I like it. Nice selection of useful elements. + you get a chicken!!!
  21. Hmmm, I don't see that much of a resemblance. Those steam trains often have identical styling, so it's hard to tell from that little micro train.
  22. Hey there and welcome to EB! No need to feel odd, just try to have a good time here and that feeling will pass easily
  23. I'm having scoliosis too, have built the tree house on the carpet on New Years Eve. Hell, it was hurting the whole Sunday through. Looks like I'm getting old Normally I build sitting at a table.
  24. Well, I'm back into LEGO after a 20 year long Dark Age. Seeing how Train fans are treated nowadays just breaks my heart. To me, LEGO WAS indeed my friend, for giving me a lot of pleasure and fun while building random things or particular cars or buildings out of those little plastic blocks. Today it seems it's more about licensed sets and making truckloads of money with collectors instead of lighting up childrens eyes (or in that case, the eyes of the train lovers). If you look into the catalogue for 1H 2017, there is 1 page reserved for LEGO trains. With a mere 5 products, 3 train sets and 2 accessory packs with rails / switches. There is still no possibility to buy straights or curves in a seperate pack (like back in the 90ies), there is not one single additional train building. This whole page is just crammed in somewhere between all those Police sets (3 pages!!! dedicated for those!) and looks like it's totally lost. But maybe I'm wrong and that's just the overall style of todays catalogues? To me the presentation looks sterile and does not stimulate me to buy any of those. Look at this catalog page from the 90ies. Besides having one extra loco, a beautiful train station, extra hopper, flatbed and cargo cars, look at that presentation of the line-up: And the best thing: You could buy all those sets shown if you wanted to! No sets that were just around for 1 year or limited in release numbers. Funny that these sets are high-price in mint condition nowadays, eh? Maybe it's just me, missing good old times. I don't know. I'm still hoping for a cool set (like those I have missed in my Dark Ages (Maersk )) for 2017, but If it happens it will be in the 2H for sure. BTW: To stay fair, you could as well complain about the missing housing options for your town... but that would go into another subforum...
  25. @alican VIP card is a simple registration at LEGO homepage or a LEGO Brand Retail Store. However, I don't know what the requirement for getting an RLUG-Sticker is... would love some enlightenment as well
