What about that idea (See flickr by knowyourpieces: ) I know what would happen to me and my Lego if I would try THAT at home...

Yay! Just for the PF tracks or metal rails as well? I'm definitely interested in the metal tracks. Is there any progress on these?

BTW: If you buy something at the LEGO Store in Berlin these days (that is, until the grand re-opening, when rebuilding is finished, on 24th Nov) you get a coupon for a free Toy Soldier ornament on your next visit. Just happened to drop by at the store on Friday. Just be sure to redeem that coupon on 24th, it says "while supplies last"...

Nearly since last post, but I hope it's ok to necro-post my set number? I'm a Happy Meal freebie, a red helicopter. Well, could be worse, like Jack Stone, a Scala bead or something along that line.... http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=1644-1&name=Lego%20Motion%204A,%20Wind%20Whirler%20polybag&category=%5BUniversal%20Building%20Set%5D%5BBasic%20Model%5D#T=S&O={}

[MOC] Star Wars First Order Battle Tram
Capparezza replied to davesbrickroom's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Let's hope you ain't got some Jedis on the leash, roaming your Lego City streets. Otherwise those handful of Troopers will get into some trouble Nice work indeed, I like that colour scheme! -
Thank you Breakdown, Brickjagger and Marty Indeed, there are lots of possibilities what you can do with the 740 set. But, as I try to keep up with the times, I also got my hands on 2 boxes of PF set (http://brickset.com/sets/8293-1/Motor-Set). Let's see what can be accomplished with one of these. And I have already finished a simple train MOC which can hold the Road and Rail Repair Vehicle (http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=4525-1&name=Road%20and%20Rail%20Repair#T=S&O={}). Nothing spectecular, but you got to start somewhere... I'll post it in the train forums when I can find a little spare time.

Wow, very stunning work. Everytime I see such beauties, there's a little voice in my head telling me "Look what superb models others build... How come your creations don't look as good?" and I'm a little disappointed by myself (or maybe just afraid of trying and failing?).

Hmm.... interesting. I have several 9V motors but never noticed any O-rings on those metal wheels. Might take a closer look this evening. Thansk for the info! Edit: Yeah, funny thing I didn't notice those O-rings... There are indeed some on the 9V motors, had one of those in my hands when I was at my basement yesterday. Thanks again for pointing that out I can't see any way to replace them either, as they are pretty recessedy very small and therefore hard to reach.
-
I can't see how O-rings might help on 9V motors, wouldn't they break electrical contact to the rails? If the motor has not run for a considerable amount of time, try what coaster suggested. That normally helps.

Seems as if the EM1-model (fabricated by Lohner?) was also driving around in Innsbruck (my former home town), only the colour scheme was a little different. Nice job on these trams

Yes, that's what I suggested in my previous post, but it seems finish-last would like to get rid of the IR receiver as well So, he wants to control the motor directly by the 9V controller. I just objected that, as the IR receiver is quite easy to conceal, to keep it in. I do like your videos BTW. The one with the automated container yard is just awesome... indeed, all of your arduino videos are just awesome

Hey there! Nice build, captures the real DB RE quite well Have you tried http://brickulus.com/parts/upload/ for getting a parts list? There is an option to export a file for use on the bricklink website, too.
-
I understand. I do love the 9V system (see my avatar ) but also do appreciate the possibility to control your trains wireless, but still getting power from the rails instead of the battery. I wouldn't sacrifice that freedom in this case, the IR receiver is a lot easier to hide away than receiver + battery box.
-
Should work, if you connect it to the right terminals at the IR receiver. With the use of a PF extension you can hookup the old train controller to an IR receiver, so this will work too. See Duqs comment here: https://www.flickr.c...57617947835040/

Yeah, that came into my mind as well. You could tell from the video, that the tender would be too small to cover it all up. Well, one could improvise and build it a tad higher on the sides to conceal the battery box I'm still undecided buying it...
-
I'd love to see Morten stick that ugly, big PF battery box into that tiny, little train. Too bad he didn't show that in the video...

Thank you too, dr_spock. Warm greetings to the other side of the big pond

Wow. What a huge building! Does it have a working grain elevator? Or is this feature reserved for Phase 2?

Thank you and Greetings to Indonesia!

Hello there! Recently I have taken my time to wash and sort my old inventory of Lego pieces. Parts from way back in the 70s (which were donated to me when I was about 5), parts and complete sets from my childhood (including the wonderful Set 740) up to my last Lego Technic Set (8868). After that last technic set, my Dark Age set in and lasted until 2016, nearly 23 years... and I just came out of my Dark Ages because of my little son, as I am preparing to get a hold of the old sets (hopefully complete) to give them to him as presents over the next years. Well, it didn't take long to completely draw me into the fascination of building with Lego again. When I gathered the pieces to put together my Metro Liner (4558) and, after a sleepless night, I had my Railroad Crossing (4539) complete as well, I suddenly ended up buying some extra tracks, points and even a crossing. Some of that extra track came with two very, very incomplete sets: No 1, the Load and Haul Railroad (4563) and No 2. Freight and Crane Railway (4565). Basically, there is no single engine or rolling stock anywhere near complete. 20% of the pieces are existant at best. At the moment I am trying to restore those as possible with my limited inventory. So, that's how I ended up here, searching for clever tips and tricks to somehow finish those two sets with my limited amount of bricks and trying to get some insight to what is new on the topic of Lego trains. And maybe build some MOCs too, while I'm at it Thanks for reading and have a good time building, Capparezza
