LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Was looking closer at those side builds in the sets, dark blue rocks, black trees with magenta leaves , makes for an interesting color scheme, and hope the Dragonstone Temple has something like that too. As for the current sets before the March wave, only Sora's Mech stands out to me (and it helps Sora is a very new character that hasn't been seen for 10+ years so it's fresh to me still) I do like Cole's Mech build as well though but mainly because I have a soft spot for Lava monsters (from coming back into LEGO in 2016 Nexo Knights had similar parts/colored monsters then) -
Recently got some 2022 and 2023 Classic theme sets, and noticed how many colors of 1x1 and 1x2 SNOT bricks they make now, in many colors "themed" for the set. has been made in 26 colors now has been made in 35 colors now So LEGO can definately make those fairly basic parts in many colors if they wanted to. And then the standard Masonry brick, which is used for decoration is only made in 16 colors so far. Of course those SNOT bricks are used for far more then just internals and especially in those Classic sets they are meant to make funny characters with the included eyes etc, and are useful for car headlights and what not, just surprises me how many colors they are made in compared to some other purely decorative bricks like the masonry or palisade bricks.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I don't either, but if they were somehow brought back to life, then yes, there's some fantasy going on, But the sets themselves, are pretty much just exploration, as yes, mummified mammoths have been found with hair intact. Anyway for 2024, I built the 4+ City spaceship and it still looks good on the stand borrowed from 3-in-1 31126: Supersonic-jet, and the extra white nose slope makes it look better then the 2019 smaller ship side by side imo. -
Wasn't meant to brag or anything, it just seemed fairly logical, with LEGO introducing this big Arctic ship recently, and the sailboat and shipping container hideout for 2024 kind of made it more interesting to see what would follow. In fact, with the Police Boat from a while back, I already was thinking of some seaside police station would eventually arrive, probably as soon as 2022, but that didn't happen, but this year did get a Seaside Prison Island. As for construction, I think it's an ongoing theme that gets regular vehicles, under Great Vehicles, or 4+ (or part of a Downtown Fire set in 2019 with the crane, and a Stuntz set did have a hint of wall demolition), but now it seems Fire has no Downtown set this time around, and the Mobile Crane just retired, so there's room for a proper Construction Crane set, and an Excavator has not been done in a while either (2015 and 2017 had one tho) . Now the question will be if the crane will be something like a static 2006 style crane or a 2005/2009 style mobile crane. I kind of hope for a Static Crane as it would fit in a "Town Plan" set better (bigger then the 2019 Crane), with some 8x8 modules to lift around, But if it's a mobile crane I hope it's more something like 2015 sized, so not gigantic, but larger enough to lift at least some building sections, I mean, 2005 was called XXL and that actually was enormous. I hope the excavator is something like a modern version of "Digger" from nearly 20 years ago (mainly size wise, threads could use the technic parts, and perhaps a more detailed arm/bucket and more accesoires (like a jackhammer or hook option, even tho those could easily be modded as well)
-
Just built the 4+ set, and even with the big underpiece for the ship, i think it's a good set that doesn't really feel worse compared to a similar ship seen in 2019 with 60224: Satellite Service Mission (which was half the price), but this has the printed parts , round alien , and a second fig, and 2 boulders + 5 crystals. I suppose the main difference is that the 2019 set had cargo for a satellite and this set has a tall 2x2 crate under the space tile to hold a crystal, and the old vs new trans-brown vs trans-black canopy of the same shape.

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
TeriXeri replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Black Knights and Royal Knights would go well together, even if not from the exact same timeline (and then Wolfpack if a bandit faction is needed for a 3rd) Design wise, they used Black Castles with grey details, if they need to share moulds/prints. Speaking of a part they all could share , would be a Black masonry brick, which actually does not exist yet. -
I doubt they'll stop selling it unless it's info is known on some end-of-life listing (or brickset has the end date) , and even those sometimes get moved. Of course there have been cases of some sets just pretty much disappearing , or at least suddenly seem to have been out of stock permanently (seems to have happened with some of the last LEGO Movie 2 wave, and Hidden side last wave sets), but for a long-time set like this , I think a retirement date will be known well ahead of time. However, I think this set will remain pretty much exclusive and not suddely have a wider release, and since it has not gotten a price increase (unlike Pirate ship which was not exclusive but got increased from €100 initial to €130 now), I think it's still a good deal , and LEGO.com still offers VIP points and GWP to somewhat compensate. With the way LEGO does their discounts, it's pretty much unpredictable, I doubt they'll discount this set anytime soon, and for 2023, the major discounts were around Black Friday or End of Year sale, which are quite a while away for 2024. Exclusive , or partial exclusive sets also seem to get discounted less unless it's a big negatively received set (football table, hulkbuster, black panther bust, queer eye loft etc. got discounted pretty quick, which might have indicated lack of sales to begin with, and with this castle, it's been around for so long, I think it's in fact a great seller still). The set got a lot of fantastic alternate builds on rebrickable as well, like a few really good combi-builds , even a Lion Knights castle styled variant.
-
I think it does add some to the price but LEGO would probably round it to €200 (instead of like €180-190), but if not included, I doubt LEGO would do a ship with such sails, especially not as GWP, it'd be something much simpler. As for biggest flaw, I voted Other, as none of the issues really makes me dislike it, just a combination of things that might've been nicer, but things like the rocks and walls can be modded with common parts if needed. (unlike sails that would need to be custom made/bought) .
-
I think it's nice that the Jangbricks review of the 4+ City Space set called it better value then the Interstellar Space ship. (and that set is already exceptionally good) I tend to skip most 4+ set, but this one was done right (and just found it in a shop today)
-
I do hope the excavator has tracks too, as a tracked vehicle can be useful to change into other things like bulldozer etc If not tracked, I'll probably get the 2024 small technic yellow bulldozer set which comes with 48x tracks, or the 2023 technic 42148: Snow Groomer with 56x tracks, which can be used as bases for minifig scaled brick vehicles. It's also interesting , at least in my country, 3 City magazines recently all have construction minifigs (my country only gets 6 City magazines per year now instead of all), so it's still one of the popular subjects , in fact, it's how I got most of my recent red helmet construction workers lately. I tend to skip 4+ construction sets, so if I find those magazines I usually pick em up. Next magazine here has a hand held cement mixer so that's another construction mini set. And 2022 had this roller with a genius build : Those mini sets remind me a lot of the Town days and as such I don't mind the builds being smaller and simpler at all, even tho overall the boxed sets offer more value most of the time ( but I don't like 60391: Construction Trucks and Wrecking Ball Crane )

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I'd say it's somewhat connected, but also not. 2000 designs just looked somewhat more sci-fi due to the larger windscreens and darkblue color. 2018 was the only Arctic wave with no space rocks / ice boulders, as it had those frozen animals instead (including insects) , and if the owner of the set, decides animals are just "dead" then it's pretty much 0% sci-fi at all. 2000 had space rocks with neon spiders, 2014 had boulders with crystals (doesn't have to be space rocks as they look pretty much round and smooth), and 2023 had this darker colored "moon" rock also found in the 2022 City Launch base. (darker color compared to the rocks found on the moon itself in sets) -
I listed it because of the resemblence and the brickset tag.
-
Harbour and some Construction sets were on my prediction list, and it's nice to see it actually happen. Also the last City magazine comic had a big yellow crane, so maybe it'll look a bit like that , with those X shaped latticework panels, 6 wide, or those 2x2 pillars. (also interestingly had a Knight Statue that was being moved/destroyed, so I wonder if that's in the set for a crane to move) Next City magazine has a cement mixer , but that's like meant to be moved by minifigs, so pretty much wheelbarrow sized.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
The closest the old arctic had to current sci-fi is that it has those transparent meteors with neon spiders in them. I mean, we still see an Alien in a boulder in 2024. Otherwise, it's pretty much just Town's version of Arctic, 2014 Arctic continued the Polar Bears and Boulders, while 2018 Arctic was more about animals (which makes sense as 2016 Volcano and 2018 Miners pretty much covered the boulder/mining parts) The vehicles did look a little space-ish in 2000 Arctic but not unusual, just many vehicles in Town used space shaped windows , even long before town junior, in the early / mid 90s vehicles used those : -
Shooting and Non-Shooting Cannons...What you Have!?
TeriXeri replied to VintageLegoEra's topic in LEGO Pirates
I used the cannons sometimes back in the day, but now , even with obtaining new cannons and many forms of other stud/bolt shooters since coming back to LEGO in 2016, I don't shoot any of them. In fact, I don't even have ammo loaded in them , even while they might look better on display (especially the 6-shooter with neon studs can look nice). As for favorite shooter style , I think I like the disc shooters the most, and the ball shooters the least. (Nexo Knights had pretty much every shooter type in the arsenal, except of course Pirate cannons and the later Spring loaded larger bolt that didn't exist) -
Not to shut down hope here, but the factory in the USA has an "initial opening date scheduled in 2025" , so it's not operational for a while yet. They just broke ground in April 2023. But hey, at least it's being built, unlike LEGOLAND Belgium / Benelux which was cancelled in 2023.

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread

There were a whole lot more licensed 18+ sets beyond Icons, Star Wars or Harry Potter in 2023. Disney Castle Disney Tribute Camera Disney Little Mermaid Clamshell Disney Villain Icons IDEAS Disney Hocus Pocus IDEAS Polaroid IDEAS Orient Express IDEAS BTS Dynamite Technic Yamaha MT-10 SP Technic Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000 Technic PEUGEOT 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar Technic Ford GT ART The Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Avengers Tower Marvel Star Lords Helmet X-Men Wolverine's Adamantium Claws DC Batcave Shadow Box -
Yeah, and LEGO kind of already did that with the 2023 Ocean Explorers, while part of it was certainly inspired by former Arctic theme, they blended both Divers and Arctic here, I mean, Great White ,Hammerhead, Stingray and Turtles certainly aren't found in the Arctic Oceans, so the theme covered a few different ocean temperatures. I mean, for smaller kids it probably doesn't even matter much if sets of the same wave have both Tigers and Gorillas in seperate sets (example) , I think they see them more as jungle animals before they consider one is African and one is Asian.

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
TeriXeri replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I actualy wouldn't have mind some more BURPs used for Eldorado if it meant some better fort walls, and also less cramped cave space. Sure, it looks more flat, but also not that terrible compared to an old baseplate set which was even more flat. Police Prison Island has some decent cliffs even for a 7+ set, or maybe those smaller rock pieces seen in the 2022 Ninjago dojo to fill in places. Ninjago Skull dungeons used those big corner BURPs but they are then covered up with slopes. But I asume LEGO wanted to have this transition from darkgrey to lightgrey as seen on the old baseplate print. -
I hope that Space Lab set has 2 modules, would be nice to see them in a smaller set that's not €70+
-
Galaxy Explorer is retired on European LEGO.com sites, but there have been cases where "old" sets have been sold for longer, 2020 City Police Station was like available in 2022 for a while too. (and that set wasn't great so probably overproduced leftovers)

LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
There seem to be exclusions on a per-skin basis, as Spider-Gwen, or Ahsoka definately had multiple variants of minifigures, but not in-game in Fortnite.
