LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Could be, if they plan for a set to be a high volume seller, or partially / fully exclusive, prices can often be lower. For example 80113: Family Reunion Celebration has 13 minifigs in a €100 set, and on top of that, 1800 pieces,, I know that set is $130 in US but that's probably has the much higher chinese population over there, LEGO knows they would sell enough at higher price, so sometimes it goes both ways (similarly, Monkie Kid has higher dollar price as well) If this has core characters like Brite Bomber, Jonesy , Cuddle Bear , Fishstick etc, it would be highly desired, and there shouldn't be that much extra licensing cost needed as they already exist in digital LEGO minifig forms. There's a npc character named Sawyer but that's just the explorer CMF figure. And a female npc character named Petra. Known LEGO characters have not been available as playble skins, just as villager npcs, or enemies, since they would require a normal variant as well, and most playable skins do get LEGO minifig versions (unless license-locked like Optimus Prime, Witcher , Solid Snake, Peter Griffin ,Doom Guy etc) but they don't sell minifig skins seperate from regular skins, since Fortnite has game modes that use those skins. That said, some licensed shop skins do get both normal and minifig skins, like recently Ninja Turtle , or Marvel Black Widow skins ( see item shop here https://fnbr.co/shop it shows minifig skins if they have them) -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread

Yeah they are super strict with their rules, designs. Like recenly, table board top game Hero Quest returned via crowdfunding, formerly created by MB with Games Workshop, now Avalon Hill + Hasbro, and they had to change all the references to Chaos, Fimir and some others, as they were protected by Games Workshop. Also in the video game world, recently , some new units are revealed for a DLC expansion of Total War Warhammer 3, and some wondered about something like the design of some creatures, and Games Workshop considers things in that total war universe, seperate from some of their other stuff, so they cannot use certain unit designs of certain "lore". That said, the "break up" with games workshop for Hero Quest , means they can more freely develop expansions now, and new boardgame content , seperate to existing lore books, which means more choice in the table top world. -
Agreed, like those bags with tools, ninjago weapons, friends sea animals, friends kitchen accesoires, monkie kid golden weapons, speed champion wheel covers etc, all are multi-parts coming in a small bag as 1 part. Back in the old old days there were chrome coins, tools , flowers, plumes, chrome harpoons and many more , that would be on a sprue, so it goes back quite a few decades. Currently the same sprue system is still used for Harry Potter wands and the minifig Keys, in various colors, even in 2023 and 2024 sets, they all come in pairs.

Thanks. Makes sense for the game to use existing things where possible, so it's mostly Wolf Pack that caught my surprise, but that torso and brown hood is now found in the soon to release Medieval Town Square.

I'm currently working on converting the 2024 small technic bulldozer into a decent minifig compatible set with system parts (so no alternate build this time), basicly doing it purely for myself, to learn. I do look at instructions once in a while, in this case City 60140: Bulldozer Break-In as inspiration, and sense of scale, but then giving my own style to it. I find that I learn the most by just free hand building, no pre planning, just doing spur of the moment ideas and experimentation, but I don't do very large MOCs, or try to restrict myself to real world / licensed accuracy too much either, just mostly for fun. Of course, I understand that pre planned builds can be very interesting too. As far as posting MOC's, I think I would mostly do that with just alternate builds, as those are the easiest for people to get parts for, especially if it's a current set.

Just a couple Pirates found in LEGO Fortnite : Not sure if those prints all come from existing old sets or not.

I definately think there might be more Wolf Pack eventually, as they have Wolf Pack Archer, Chopper , Protector and Slicer (just different weapon types) as enemies in LEGO Fortnite (Alongside enemy Falcon Knight variants, and a Lion Knight friendly villager for hire) I mean, Wolf Pack Archer is pretty much in this set , as the game uses crossbows . -
Ninja Castle Subtheme return potential

I just found out today, that in the LEGO Fortnite game, you can unlock Shogun Palace building parts (lategame if you have upgraded village in Ice Biome) It's interesting to see how those buildings represent classic Ninja a lot more then Ninjago imo. (altho as in this game all the builds are like already at a huge scale, actual sets, even 18+ Icons, would not be at this scale) https://fortnite.fandom.com/wiki/LEGO_Fortnite:Builds Also there are references to regular Castle with castle builds, as well as you can have a random villager appear that's a Lion Knight , and npc enemy minifigs in frost biome can be Falcon knights or Wolfpack. -
LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I wonder if the climber figures will show up in summer sets, right now they basicly split 2 figure types (Mask or Hood) and divided them across the sets, so you have to get specific sets to get full teams of same types. Climber Kai does appear in 3 sets, others only once, so maybe the summer sets will have some more climber figs of other ninja. Other years, there were more duplicate Ninja outfits, but easier to collect. On the other hand, big ninjago collectors will benefit from more different variants instead of duplicates , so it's a bit of a mix of upsides and downsides. -
Start with some small set, or maybe just parts from 1 set, and try to alternate build it into something, just using parts from 1 set. It amazes me what people come up with.

LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think LEGO is trying to avoid any minifigure references to Battle Royale, so I think they'll only do LEGO Fortnite sets if they bring minifigures. (as in the LEGO Fortnite game-mode , since they added that at the same time as the new Racing and Music modes at the end of 2023) But it's too early to see what the full list of sets end up being of course. Skipping minifigs entirely would be a bit strange, as they made so many in-game conversions of skins, but skipping guns or battle royale map locations is more likely, there are no LEGO mentions in other game modes at all either, not even something small and simple as a Profile icon or Emote. Just for the LEGO Fortnite mode, they could still do a lot in terms of sets. 4 Biomes (Grass, Coast, Desert, Ice) Caves (Rocks , Logs, Roots, Crystals , altho those are not "brick built" in game ) Buildable monsters (Wolf / Brute) Brick built Farm animals seen in game (Chicken , Sheep , Cow) Farm plants seen in game (they turn into LEGO brick form if you manually plant them) Town stuff with NPCs , Crafting stations Bandits / Skeletons in various outfits , perhaps around a treasure chest, or camp ruins. Game is a bit of a mix of game graphics and LEGO graphics, so I don't think they'll go like all the way with biomes in terms of trees , rocks, or cave rocks as those are not in LEGO brick form until harvested, but perhaps a scaled down version of the buildable house styles could work (Shack / Log Cabin / Yellow Houses / Castle walls) -
Maybe this part + a few 1x1 plates? at least as temporary solution.

I wonder how LEGO is gonna deal with Fortnite sets, since the LEGO is not shown anywhere outside special LEGO game mode, avoiding any usage of minifigs with modern guns. I doubt they'll make anything related to battle royale locations, at the very most the bus. Of course that does not mean they have to avoid characters, as they clearly converted over a 1000+ skins for the LEGO game mode already. I wouldn't mind seeing a set with like a battle scene of some fortnite characters vs a Brute (a monster in LEGO Fortnite). Or if they want some minifig opponents, it could be one of those special treasure chest / campfires where groups of enemy minifigs spawn (pancake head guys in grassland, pirate/cowboy hats in desert etc) I doubt they would recreate like the buildable buildings from the game, as they are quite complex with thick walls and would require a lot of pieces at scale, and would be much larger then even modular buildings for a regular house, the starter shack is like 16x16 but it looks very basic.

Ninja Castle Subtheme return potential

Yeah Bull Knights did get indirect reference via Axl in Nexo Knights, but that's about it, I doubt they'd get much else before any other faction anytime soon. -

You missed the 1000+ LEGO versions of skins they put in the game? (only playable in their specific mode as LEGO minifigs, but still, the fact they even show the store page as LEGO minifigs when you have the mode selected says a lot, to sell skins for their LEGO minifig forms as well, outside of the Shooting, and recently added Racing and "Guitar Hero" modes) That said, licenses still play a role, and things like Peter Griffin or Solid Snake (current season) don't get a minifig skin, And then there's the fact that many skins use parts that would probably be never made in toy sets, as they need new complex moulds, or very complex printing.- 686 replies

LEGO Fortnite is still being updated, and as a seperate game mode (completely different from anything with guns), not just a simple event map or something, so physical LEGO sets make a lot of sense. There are even easter eggs of LEGO sets inside that LEGO Fortnite mode, like they put wreckage of the Dreamzzz Shark Ship as random object on a beach.- 686 replies

Ninja Castle Subtheme return potential
TeriXeri replied to Fulcrumfan91's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah, or perhaps a ninja 3-in-1 ninja castle at most, since those old Ninja buiilds were quite basic to begin with. I mean Vikings were remade via 3-in-1 and then IDEAS, not icons at all. Viking ship retired, I think 3-in-1 Castle is retiring after this year as well, so perhaps some new classic theme's turn is up for 2025 for a 3-in-1 set. Altho, Ninja would be a whole lot more similar to Ninjago, while the closest to Vikings would be the recent Thor Goat Boat (marvel / licensed) -
It's strange LEGO does not used that piece for the Classic theme however, missed chance to use it for 11036: Creative Vehicles , but I suppose it was easier for LEGO to just avoid fenders/arches completely and go for 4 wide axles instead of needing different colors of wheel arches, instead they went for different wheel types. Still not a terrible Classic set, just not-so-classic with wheel width.

True, but it still seems LEGO does try to avoid using gun pieces like the revolver or SMG by itself outside of licensed themes, some action themes have them , but either as part of builds , or heavily modified shooters. The Western/Adventurers Rifle has not been used since 2013. Hidden Side did have the revolver used as a gun but in a ghostly green color , used by ghost bikers in 2019, last time it was used in grey in-house was LEGO Movie 1 Western themed builds. And then there's a controversy about this piece being a gun or nightstick in a Police minifig pack but that was years ago too : City has used dynamites for a while tho, but lately that seems to have stopped, after that dynamite factory set never was released, and the Daisy Kaboom character was disguised as garbage truck driver instead.

I got a bunch of Town cars from like 80s-90s, and it's funny I keep seeing the old 4 wide town fender piece used in newer sets (altho this is a slightly more modern piece with the hole in it), but not as actual car fenders, I got like 16 of them in black but only used in an actual small car from a 2017 set, and the rest are used as internal parts :
-
I might just use green and blue hairpieces, kinda boring but I got some of them, especially City has been using a bunch in recent years (mainly Bright Blue or Medium Azure, or Bright Green), as for the mining leader, I probably pick a Bright Orange one, as I don't have Flame Yellow wigs (or the CMF series 13 carpenter hat with hair)
-
Oh I understand, City had tons of 4 wide cars , especially before 2018, and it was rare to see any regular car 6 wide before 2016, mainly just trucks, bus, or SUV type of cars. So if someone has a lot of cars from older City, I can understand majority of collection of regular cars will probably be 4 wide cars, 6 wide vans and trucks and some large jeep once in a while. It's not like 4 wide cars are gone, but there were times where 4 wide cars were basicly the norm, with some exceptions here and there, like looking at just standard police cars, they were pretty much all 4 wide until 2016, unless it was like a truck, dog van, or humvee or something.

Situation would probably be simpler if LEGO didn't decide to split Minifig and Minidoll variants of animals, like just this year Friends theme got 3 different goats, 2 calf, a pig, a pony, and constant updated horse variants (from static single color models not too long ago, to articulated necks and dual moulded manes) . On the other hand, as the situation is what it is, I can understand Friends horses, due to needing that 2x2 space to stand on, but for the other , smaller animals, it's a lot of doubling up different moulds and prints.

Those screenshots do help a lot with judging the size of this, much larger then first expected from first impression box art, and the color scheme looks a lot nicer with castle in the background as well. But I will likely still adapt the IDEAS smith to a somewhat smaller scale, perhaps 2 buildings, one with blue , and one with dark blue roof, or something that hinges in the middle. The actual smith room isn't that big (16x13 at quick glance of a picture, little bit more with the forge and wood storage) so can be preserved in a smaller building, it's the stairs + overhangs that make that Blacksmith set seem so large.
