  1. @Jurss It appears to be the Power Miners spiked wheels, two of them facing each other... Please correct me if I am wrong.
  2. When I lived in California, there was a guy in town who had made a larger-than-life Radio Flyer wagon that could seat 8 people, and somehow, he got it motorized AND THEN got it street legal. Had plates and everything... So yeah, I think you could totally do this and survive the apocalypse.
  3. Cannot believe I missed this entirely, but college has a way of pushing everything else off your mind and schedule... I am utterly blown away by the level of detail and the functions that are included in this model. This is really taken to the next level with the windows, I can't believe they actually work like that. Genius design, and kudos to you @Appie! True innovation. What comes next, a trunk that opens with a remote?
  4. Just a quick update, mostly aesthetic... But honestly, tell me with a straight face that you wouldn't want a V-10 engine. And what do you guys think of the body? I wasn't sure if it should slope down or not in the back, but when I tried it, it didn't look as good, in my opinion. And this way, it fits the IR receivers better, and the rear window frame looks smoother with fewer gaps. Apologies for the poor photo quality, the light in my room is terrible, and it's after midnight here...
  5. To start with, your hubs are inclined inwards. That will not have any good effect on your steering. The top and bottom joints should be connected to the hub in such a way that the wheel is parallel to the chassis, only gaining an incline when turned.
  6. Now... This... is interesting. I presume that both axles pivot in order to have 4-wheel steering, or semblance of it? Or is the rear turntable just to provide suspension?
  7. Alright, here are some photos. And I apologize, I had no sun today, and therefore, I had no good lighting today. It grew to be a lot bigger than I was expecting. I'm not sure how it's gonna turn out at the moment, I hope I have enough parts to complete it...
  8. Hello everyone! I finally finished my build, made the video, edited the video, aaaannnnnnndddddd..... POSTED THE VIDEO!!! I would like to say thanks so much to everyone who offered advice and critiques throughout the build process. Please read through the build log below for more information about the truck, but for now, please enjoy the video! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I started out with a bit of a classical Mad Max-style build... A hot-rod, with an oversized engine, and high suspension... And nice pointy bits sticking out all over the place. It has since morphed into a hot-rod mated with monster truck, sprouting a crane from the middle, on Claas tires and requiring 12 shock absorbers... And its motorized! Photos will come tomorrow with the sun and the good lighting.
  9. Good thing I happen to have three original Lego ones! I'm on break now, I just hope I can get a model finished in the three weeks I have before my next semester... EDIT: Is the max number of photos 3? Or can I include more photos of a smaller size?
  10. I am simply in awe of your build... That is a genius-level of Lego Technic engineering design, my friend. I can't even imagine the time and effort that have been put into this epic baler. You have my deepest respect.
  11. Oh man... Stuff like this makes me wish I had more time for my Lego... Absolutely stunning job. Well worth the time and effort that went into it. I can't wait for the finished product and the instructions, for no other reason than to admire the suspension still more.
  12. Oh man... You just made the most beautiful Lego version of my dream car... I will have to buy the instructions for the first time in my life... I need this masterpiece. Do you have more photos of the bare chassis? And I would like the ubiquitous belly shot. And... I hope someday Lego will make all the parts I need to build this beauty in purple...
  13. One of the greats has been lost, may he rest in peace. My condolences to all who knew him.
  14. This is most definitely the right place to show this! That is an awesome build! ... But the sci-forum does need some love, so I'd say post it there as well. And I can't believe you have 8 of those pistons! How did you get them all?!
  15. I was actually admiring this same car in a parking lot yesterday, and I have to say that this is excellent representation of it. Plenty of details, and all the lines look really good.
  16. @I_Igor The only reason I dislike it is that it's not a color that would ever be used in Technic again. Dark azure came in plenty of sets, but this one... I don't think so. And for it to be useful, you need lots of parts in a color, and there doesn't seem to be much variety here.
  17. I haven't seen photos in this topic, but maybe I missed them somewhere... Either way, The Lego Car Blog has a lovely photo of this set, plus a brief description of it. https://thelegocarblog.com/2019/06/22/42110-technic-land-rover-defender-set-preview/ I have to say, I'm disappointed in the color... Olive green?! C'mon Lego, really?! I mean, that's literal color*BARF* ... New mudguard is interesting, and so are the new rims and new tires (?). Mostly just want to know about the internals...
  18. You can do 45deg with a U-joint, but the CV-joint is maxed at about 30deg. I'd recommend designing custom hubs to fit a U-joint in the middle in order to get the results you're looking for.
  19. My friend, trial and error is all that will lead to you to the answer. Depending on what you build, and how it is designed, it will either work beautifully, or be a total failure. You are the only person who will find out, by building your own design.
  20. It's just something that he does... Some deep secret, only masters can achieve this level of building... @Madoca 1977 This is an excellent build, with some amazing functions. You never cease to amaze me. Welcome back! And thanks for the instructions! I was already planning to spend my evening pouring over the photos, hoping to reverse-engineer it, then I saw the link to the instructions...
  21. My eyes are watering... Excellent model, that articulation is wonderfully huge. Add in the speed, and this is just good old fun. EDIT: Just finished the video... Was that a wheelie?!
  22. That all sounds good, BUT... I know that you are going to need to increase the ratios, even with 2 XL-motors, they will not be able to drive the truck with a 1:1 ratio. It is simply too large. I'd start with the 1:3 ratio, and add another lower one.
  23. That's too bad the suspension wasn't working out. On a larger model, you could have had room for one of the air tanks, to provide constant pressure for a good while. I am voting to increase the wheelbase by 1-2 studs. It's not a huge difference, and shouldn't affect the model noticeably. Best of luck!
  24. Wow, that is an impressive model, it looks amazing! However, from my own experiences, I have a couple things to say: 1. I do not think that 8 hard shock absorbers will support the System-built body, especially in the rear, where they are placed vertically. 2. What is the gearing ratio you are planning to use? XL-motors are quite powerful, but even they will have a hard time with this model. Just some advice, take or leave it, and always enjoy learning from the build!
  25. This sounds like it might be a good one... I'll get the ol' gears spinning and see if I come up with something...
