  1. But if there are four motors in all, with two for the tracks and one for the wave selector, that leaves only one motor to drive the functions, ergo only one can be driven at a time (in addition to the tracks, of course).
  2. I need a new pair of glasses Damn, that blade is massive!
  3. These: I hadn't noticed them until Mr Jos pointed them out - I instinctively thought they were the usual angled 6x4 beams, but on closer inspection they seem to have a much smaller angle (not sure it's 90°, though).
  4. The level of this contest is astronomical. Props to pretty much every entry. I guess I ended up voting on nostalgia. 33: 10 43: 6 18: 4 17: 3 35: 2 22: 1
  5. Really enjoyable review - with your delivery you could talk about paint drying and still make it sound compelling. I wonder if there's room to rework the front suspension using the technique from the Grove crane.
  6. Amazing work, especially with the limited parts and in so little time
  7. Really, really well done And thanks for also sharing the cool WIP and sticker creation pics.
  8. Great to see this classic brought into the studless era. You've done a terrific job with the looks and with the upgraded functions. Glad you managed to recover. Stay healthy!
  9. Superbly executed both in looks and functions. The exposed gears really elevate it for me
  10. You can see the drivetrain for axles 3 & 4 - two hard-coupled XLs driving an 8z, which in turn drives a 24z going to the two rear axles. To be fair, the assembly is designed so that the 8z can be easily replaced.
  11. Awesome B model - gotta love a grader! You guys rule
  12. Looks great and performs really well. I'm amazed at how responsive your pendular suspension designs are - mine are always way too stiff.
  13. I wonder if the original design actually had a similar reinforcement which was then dropped because the 7l half-beams fell off during regular testing. There was something similar on 42069, if I'm not mistaken.
  14. Love the looks and performance. The two axle options really take your project to the next level.
  15. I used a similar solution on my cherry picker, which is more or less the size of 42008, so 42100 has more than enough space to fit everything. I guess the eighth function could be a retractable ladder.
  16. Great thread! As for the full RC PF conversion of 42100, a really Technic-heavy approach would be to have a remote-controlled gearbox. Three motors are enough for eight functions, although you'd be limited to using two functions at a time, which would impact playability. Still, a really fun build.
  17. 42008 has always been one of my favourite sets and has inspired a lot of my own (admittedly mediocre, but that's entirely my fault) builds.
  18. In his review, Sariel mentioned an issue with the crane rotation assembly coming apart. This should fix the issue, as well as speed up rotation; on the downside, the direction is reversed.
  19. Ah, bollocks At a pinch one could lower both axles and mount the large Unimog springs, which should also be more responsive. I guess this would also mean mounting large Claas tyres to avoid having huge enormous gaping holes in the wheel wells, although larger tyres mean less torque.
  20. Do you reckon the steering motor could be replaced with a PF servo or would it bump into things? I'd like to build the set using PF motors and BuWizz 3.0, which should cut down on the weight and allow for more speed without losing torque.
