  1. On that point, it seems the angular motor only costs €5 more than its L counterpart (B&P prices), so those two tread-driving fellas sure don't do much to justify the price. So unless a certain retailer across the border cuts the MSRP like it did with the Liebherr, leading to a 40% discount come Schwarzer Freitag, it's gonna be a pass.
  2. Way to take a massive dump on someone who's contributed to the Lego community for years, providing free access to a treasure trove of free ideas and apps. Where are your inspiring contributions?
  3. The sheer amount of detail and functionality in such a small package is mind-blowing
  4. I used this solution for my cherry picker (M motor for the wave selector & 2 L motors to drive the functions) - it works a real treat. Didumos' 90° limiter came in very handy, of course.
  5. The agility of this crawler is insane! Also, gotta love how at one point there's so much torque that a "rock" breaks off the "mountain" Did you notice any wear on the U-joint driving the steering actuator? Get well soon - surgery sucks. Hope it wasn't anything serious.
  6. @Polarlicht See here (different video, same topic, supercool bloke):
  7. Jim, you just earned one million diplomacy points This set's a joke.
  8. Back on topic, I loathe sets with a lack of functions relative to the part count - e.g. 42096, 42125 and many more.
  9. As a fellow Brit I just had to laugh Anyway, it looks phenomenal. Still can't make heads or tails of what's going on - the build is far too complex for my CTE-riddled brain - but I love it.
  10. Why does 42116 get black bushes while 42131 still gets those unsightly red ones?
  11. Given how they're marketing it (see the display-biased description on the website and the 18+ label) I guess their pricing is based on their "supercar logic", which sucks HEWGE.
  12. Upon further examination of the price in relation to the components, it can be concluded that the marketing department is chock-full of sodomites.
  13. Quite a unique model and ingeniously put together - really well done!
  14. Really like this It's got an irresistible old-school vibe to it.
  15. I reckon the four-motor-cum-gearbox approach makes sense for a bulldozer. You want independent motors for each track to handle the model's weight; the other moving parts are light enough to work smoothly with a gearbox and, in terms of play value, don't really need to work simultaneously. This isn't the case with the Liebherr: multiple sections of the arm need to move at the same time - and the arm is pretty heavy to boot. My only issue is the price of this thing and no, no amount of software, new moulds and licensing gibberish can justify the same price point as the Liebherr with pretty much the same part count but half the electronics.
  16. Oh wow, can't believe I missed this the first time round. What a superb B model!
  17. Ah, I see what you mean now. Yes, that would indeed be the issue - with three motors driving all the functions, including drive (which in the case of a tracked vehicle counts as two functions), you couldn't move the blade while driving. I guess it's a solution that works fine with models where you aren't likely to use more than two functions at a time (e.g. tow trucks and cherry pickers), but becomes kind of awkward with tracked machinery.
  18. Nope, you just need three motors for eight functions driven in pairs.
  19. Indeed. I used this mechanism for my cherry picker and it works flawlessly; then again, the model only weighs 1.8 kg, whereas the CAT probably weighs at least twice as much.
  20. Superbly crafted. I love the manual drive & steering option; the pneumatic servo switch is ingenious!
  21. The model's probably too heavy to work safely (i.e. parts not breaking) and effectively with that kind of setup.
  22. Since TLG seem to have embraced remote-controlled gearboxes (see 42114 and 42131), it'd be nice to see them on smaller, less-pricey sets. I'd like to see a 42008-style tow truck with all the functions driven by a mere handful (three, I guess) motors and a deliciously complex gearbox.
