    The steering probably has a red z16 with a drive axle running through it (or vice versa), so if the model is thrown together without much care there might be enough friction for the pistons to engage when you operate the steering HOG.

    I'd like RC drive & steering, with all the other functions motorised à la 42082 (and many more). There should be enough room to move the side outriggers forward and squeeze in a six-function distribution gearbox; another four can be crammed into the crane.

    Maybe the central diff locks automatically when shifting from high to low gear.

    Thanks for the kind words, guys Unfortunately not. I might make a second full RC version to keep the drivetrain shorter and deliver more power - that should give them enough strength to lift the whole thing.

    Been working on a fantasy crane truck very loosely based on a Kamaz I saw on Rebrickable. The idea is to have RC drive (1 PF XL) & steering (1 PF M) and motorised crane/outrigger functions (probably 1 PF XL). A previous attempt had live axle suspension but came out far too brittle. I've got the truck more or less figured out; the crane is still up in the air (no pun intended).
