21306: The Beatles Yellow Submarine (LEGO Ideas)
r5-j2 replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sorry folks , but as a child of the sixties I got thoroughly fed up with the Fab Four, I`d rather have a barbwire suppository than have this on me shelf ,although it is a stunning bit of design! -
Love it,it`s compact/neat but has all the elements you`d expect, I favour superheroes, so I`d have Peter Parker as the delivery boy ( or even Spidey himself swinging away with a nice pie !) Regards Kenny.

Fantastic, as a child in the 60`s I remember sitting behind the wheel of my uncle`s Anglia.................yes I`m that old .......................I love these nostalgic builds, thanks for sharing!!

I really like this review, who knows it might be my first architecture set?.....if it comes out at a fair price (£50 would be nice!)
-
I`d like most to see Black Canary, I have a Penzora custom figure of her, but a darker looking Lego figure of her mostly like the Green Arrow TV version would be great. Also Wildcat ,Red Robin ,Donna Troy and any Teen Titan/ Young Justice characters would be welcome along with the "Arkham Knight" and Batwing ( originally David Zavimbe from the Batman Inc comics line a few years back, but now Lucas Fox, Lucius`s son ).

Well said Fred67 ,about the Lone Ranger and Tonto, they were the super heroes of their day (easily as popular as the Man of Steel or Flash Gordon!), I`ve got them as well as Indiana Jones who is also a super hero and should be displayed. p.s. I`ve seen these display cases on Amazon and actually seeing your collection has got me wanting some................except I just went sort of nuts and overspent on Christmas and some older Batman /Marvel sets...typical timing for me Take care Kenny.

Went in to check the link to the Lego Detroit Steel page that I found on Wednesday : https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Iron-Man-Detroit-Steel-Strikes-76077 and now it isn`t working/can`t be found, has this happened before ?,cos in hind-sight £30 seemed too good to be true , Brickset has a listing showing 377 pieces, so £40 does seem more likely...sorry LegoFan 117, I thought we were onto a genuine bargain!!...(still getting it anyway.............Lola rocks!!)

This is the Marvel set I`ve been waiting for!..............I`m a D.C. die-hard fan, but Coulson and Lola are a must have ,along with a new Iron Man and Justin Hammer`s Detroit Steel, all for just £30 really is a "steal" (pun intended!!);.... https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Iron-Man-Detroit-Steel-Strikes-76077

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
r5-j2 replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Totally agree, I`m not feeling a lot of love for some of the sets I`ve seen reviewed (the over-sized Batmobile looks like it was designed by Eddie Munster!, whilst he was on an acid trip!, o.k. it`s zany and fun ,but just not my thing!) ,........ but I am really looking forward to Clayface. regards Kenny -
Here are my D.C. figs,I still have the "Harvest of Fear" and "Joker`s Steam-roller " sets to build up,so there doesn`t seem to be any end in sight to this mini-fig addiction! IMG_2206 by kenny burns, on Flickr IMG_2198 by kenny burns, on Flickr

-
Brilliant!!...................................................you`ve done this so well ,that it is almost annoying...........!!!
-
I`m an old fart and I love that show...pity about the sets ,in that you finally get a set with all the "good guy" figures included and it`s still below par!, never mind ,I`ll probably buy it anyway!!
-
Love it!, this really clever and I can`t wait to see any Fabuland build that you come up with, as I love to see any nostalgic builds. Thanks for sharing with us.

[MOC] Ian Malcolm's muscle car from JW videogame
r5-j2 replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Licensed
Very cool! -
Sorry mate I don`t see an easy way to do this without somehow really stoutly hinging the study wall to the outer façade wall section which will entail getting a ton of bricks and separating the façade wall more totally from the study wall (like two pages attached to the spine of a book, but adding brick work/greebling to the unfinished ,"bare" looking areas), Lego have made a great set of elements, but never seemed to think of how they "Mesh together" .........p.s. I love the quote from Dark Knight Returns!

I saw this set about a year ago in a local shop (probably old stock) and I didn`t buy it at the original price, so I ended up paying a premium for it on Amazon, but that said ,it is a cracking set and was worth it. When I got it , I noticed that the arms were different lengths so I evened them out, I also ditched the big gun and gave Iex two anti-Kryptonian cannons ( there were two tubing bits in the box ) instead, plus two stud launchers for variety. Finally I tidied up the legs/ body ,by removing the loud trans-green parts (which aren't to my taste, but a good inclusion nonetheless) I can`t wait to get the new Mr Freeze mech , which is due at the end of November and is a bit simplified (it seems to use the one piece hands you see on the big Star Wars figures ), I`ll definitely buy that one right away!! Does this mean B.A. is over his fear of flying and is taking Murdoch for a spin in the Falcon?....but seriously ,you have done a fantastic job...it`s amazing!

Thanks for the kind comments, now all I have to do is eat a lot more chocolates, so I make up more displays! ( isn`t collecting LEGO a real burden? ).
-
I picked up the Juniors Lex Luthor vs Batman and Superman set in a sale and I had an old chocolate box lid, so I combined some elements of the set (along with some other bits and bobs and some cheap pound-land spray paint), so I could display some of my Justice league minifigures. IMG_2105 by kenny burns, on Flickr IMG_2098 by kenny burns, on Flickr IMG_2097 by kenny burns, on FlickrIMG_2097 by kenny burns, on Flickr sorry for the double image.....I was having issues with Flickr!

I`m a grumpy old s*d, so I just see it as a way to maximise profits/ease or speed up production for Lego. I also collect super heroes (mostly D.C., but also a few Marvel) and the new Dawn of Justice figures are real step-ups from their previous incarnations (the Wonder Woman figure is brilliant) , so there is no reason for this not being applied to the Star Wars line.
