The theme itself is doing perfectly fine. They are just referring to the author in a roundabout way.

Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Percy is finished and uploaded to the first post! This rendition of Percy, the 0-4-0 saddle tank steamer from the Railway Series books and Thomas and Friends TV show was heavily inspired by the Lgauge website's Percy model (as seen here) However, I added Big Ben Bricks green medium wheels to make it stand out, plus working pistons whereas the original had only 9v powered wheels and no real pistons. Rear view, with the cab controls visible. As for cars for Percy to pull, I have two mail cars already built from late last year. -
Why a One Piece Theme would be amazing!

If Lego thinks it would sell, they'd sell it, as that's what they're in business for. The last anime they took inspiration from got two (count 'em!) sets: 'Avatar - the Last Airbender' in 2006 (unless you count the four 'Speed Racer' film sets from '08) and they sold nowhere near as well as they'd hoped. I saw both ATLA and Speed Racer on store shelves for quite a while, with them not selling many, if any at all. Also, every single anime franchise that made 10,000 votes on ideas has been rejected at review by LEGO... and there has been a few. Maybe someday this will change, but I do think Lego has adapted a 'once bitten, twice shy approach', so yeah... not happening. -
What are some of your favorite themes/sets?

Adventures, with Orient Expedition being my fav, both in childhood and now. I was 8 (going on 9!) when Expedition was out, and I just realized this year is the 20th Anniversary of Adventurers final outing with next year being the 2004 Great Color Switch's 20th... I feel REALLY old now. (Also, I miss the old Lego Magazines. They had FANTASTIC cover art, like the one above! - Photo from Bricklink, not mine -) -
Looks extremely nice, and very accurate! However, one very small nit-pick: as far as I'm aware there was never a connection door of any kind on the backside of Challenger's tender: It's a blank steel wall with the loco number, and a built-in headlight. If you look at pictures of Big Boy 4014 rebuilt, that should help you, as 4014 is using a renumbered oil-hauling Challenger tender until it's original Big Boy tender can be converted to oil firing. (which should happen this year or next) BUT other than that, this is the gosh-darned best Challenger MOC I've ever seen. So kudos to you for a extremely accurate MOC!

Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
@Lemerbrix It used to be we would get a freight train one year and then another one the next year. 2010/11 and 2014/15 had this cycle, but nothing came in 2019 after the 2018 freight train released. However, we DID get the Crocodile in 2019, so who knows if that put a wrench in their plans? Or maybe they decided they weren't selling enough freight trains to warrant it. We will never know either way. So, in essence @Vilhelm22, if we get one this year I would be surprised, but not by much. If we don't, it would not be a shock. -

Percy has had an accident. We have the technology, we can rebuild him.... stronger... faster... better. He is The Six Million Dollar Steam Engine! OK, in reality this is just a WIP shot of him being constructed, not rebuilt. The final parts should be here by Saturday. (and no, it didn't really cost me 6 million dollars!) -
wiping a Lego box with alcohol, good or bad?

Cardboard and liquids don't mix. But it's your Lego, you do what you think is best. -

a dry swifter-like cloth would be better. You might take the print off the box with either of the options you suggested. Speaking from experience, getting LEGO boxes wet in any way isn't a good idea. -
I don't have instructions, but I do have a ldd file. Do you want that?

Why not be made a Spielberg for making the movie the toy is based off of? That makes a tiny bit more sense, after all... -

This 6 wide "Warship" (also known as BR class 42) with hydraulic claw (AKA Diesel 10) has been heavily inspired by @KaijuBuildz and his Diesel 10 model to have a completely new design compared to my older inaccurate model. I accomplished this by looking at two or three pictures of his model and reverse engineering it except for the frame and main windows. (The front / rear windows were changed as I couldn't figure them out, and the frame because I wanted to make sure Diesel 10 could pull trains.) You can compare the new model to my old model from 2019, seen directly above. Most of the old model will go into the new one, and yes, I know the color should be olive green instead of dark bluish gray. However, most of the parts don't exist in olive, so gray it shall stay. -
What about the prequel film series (Fantastic Beasts)? Who do you think plays Hogwarts Legacy? Kids could also be introduced to the original books / films by their parents, who had read / seen them as kids. (Such as what happens with the Original and Prequel trilogy's of Star Wars, and what will someday happen to the sequel films in another decade-or-less.) Basically, things get handed down from generation to generation, long after the author has stopped writing, jumped the shark, or died. For another example: how long has it been since "the Adventurers of Tintin" was published in print? (I'll tell you: started in 1929, ended in 1976.) Yet we got a Steven Spielberg movie about it in 2011. Why? Because it became a timeless classic.. same as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and many other things. Should Harry Potter be a classic? (Probably not.) But is it anyway? (Yes it is!) Sorry, but it just irks me the wrong way when everyone dogpiles on a theme saying - without fact-based evidence - that it doesn't appeal to kids. And HP isn't alone in this, not by a longshot... ...and that's MY unpopular opinion.

Thanks for the compliments @Feuer Zug and @Poodabricks, I really appreciate it! I just started fiddling with Percy today, here is the latest update on that: Exactly eighty-four parts remain for Percy to be completed, including the four Big Ben Bricks wheels in green. It will cost about 24 dollars (before shipping) for these parts, and half of that price is the four wheels alone! EDIT: I just ordered Percy this afternoon, and after shipping it was $37. -
Looks very Blacktron to me! Maybe they stole the blueprints and made there own? Great MOD either way!

You might want to take that down, @LB2341. It breaks the community guidelines to include any pictures of leaks on this site, even in memes. -
Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Update time! I finally finished my new Thomas and took photos of him, and Annie / Clarabel. (Comparison photos of the old Thomas are in the spoiler tag at the bottom of this post.) My newly revised Thomas is based off these instructions from Block Junction, albeit in heavily modified form. Thomas' two coaches Annie and Clarabel are my own design, and were built almost totally from my own parts collection - only wheels and buffers were purchased for them. The front of Thomas is lacking a face, but I'm not concerned about that... I says he's sleeping when kids ask at trains shows. The rear of the famous tank engine. There is a bit more inside printed details this time for his cab controls. The car on the left (Clarabel) is mostly passenger seating in the front three-quarters, with the guards compartment (and luggage storage) in the rear-most section. The other coach (Annie) is meant for passenger seating only. Thoughts?
