For a while now, Unikitty has been scouting out a new place to create Cloud Cuckoo Land anew. To do this she needs transportation, and so she had her friend Joey the snail help her find a new car, which happened to turn out to be Buster the vintage motor car. He doesn't drive very fast, but no-one minds: it's all about the journey to getting from point "A" to point "B" and having fun along the way. As an added bonus, Buster has been around the block a few times and knows all the best roadside attractions and sights to see along highways, back roads and dirt trails of the LEGO World. Plus, Buster has been modified to run on Unikitty's boundless imagination and cheery attitude so no longer do they have to stop for gasoline. Unfortunately, Buster has a very temperamental engine, so Joey volunteers as the Mechanic for their journeys across the LEGO landscape while they search for a new home. Here we see (from left to right) Buster the vintage motor car, Princess Unikitty, and Joey the Snail. Buster was originally in yellow as a version of Doctor Who's car "Bessie". I then added eyes one afternoon last week as a idea of "what if Bessie was living and could talk". I then decided Bessie would go better with Unikitty because she is a bit more whimsical than the Doctor. I also added the snail from the Cloud Cuckoo Land set as Bessie's (now repainted red and renamed Buster) mechanic. By the way: The name "Joey the snail" came from my Sister's old blog where she had a beanie-baby-like frog named Legs as the star of the blog with a guest star Joey the Snail appearing on the home page occasionally... she quit writing the blog about three years ago, and I appropriated Joey and placed the snail from the LEGO Movie set as him once it was revealed to keep it alive, in a way. Anyway, here is the rear view showcasing the seats for Unikitty (front) and Joey (rear) . You can also see the spare tire from here. Here is the LDD file, if anyone wants it: http://www.mocpages....1447963356m.lxf EDIT: This moc should be built after the doctor who set comes out, around the first week of December.

[MOD] 60098 Red Diesel Modifications
Murdoch17 replied to Dread Pirate Rob's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If you are referring to this motorized build below, no, it never got built. However, the blue engine inspired my color choice for my F40PH model number 8773, and now is ore-inspired my update of that loco. EDIT / UPDATE: added photo of the latest version of engine 8773 with the new nose. -
I personally like the newer version. The size is more prototypical for the mid-1800's... though the three wheel design might not be. You could use two bogies or a two wheel design instead, right?

Industrial 0-6-0ST steam loco and diesel switcher - MODs
Murdoch17 posted a topic in LEGO Train Tech
The following creations were made with help from about five people, not including myself. Please see each model for more details. The steam switcher was originally a model by Scotnick, which had no working pistons and was colored white and red. I borrowed some pistons from one of HunterDobbs' engines, and now have added updated saddle tanks courtesy of Canvas Rails / TF Twitch. (Canvas made the original 0-4-0 design where the tank originated, which TF Twitch recreated, this leading to the adding of it to this 0-6-0.) Oh, and by the way: the gears on the steamer are standing in for six Big Ben Bricks medium steam engine drivers. (four flanged, two blind) The rear of the engine features warp-around stripe design. The number of the engine goes on the four studs, while BRS goes on the three studs. The diesel was designed by Flickr member "RIZING!" and modified by me to be little taller and come in tan. I also removed some parts that are unavailable in black. The diesel could be motorized with either 9V or PF motors and associated items. Also, I must say I really like the stairs at both ends of the engine that RIZING! designed. The rear of the switcher now has three tail-lights. The number of the engine goes on the four studs, while the three studs is reserved for the letters BRS. I will be building these locos sometime early next year.- 6 replies

2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam engine - Anthony Sava inspired
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I thought about that, but I think the pony truck I used wouldn't work so well next to blind drivers instead of flanged. If you did use blind first, you'd have to have a different kind of pony truck, something like this... This is what my first MOD of Anthony Sava's original Berkshire looks like with regards to the pony truck. It is hinged between the first and second axle by a 2 x 14 plate and 2 x 2 turntable. I now use the Emerald night pony truck instead of this, as the original one had problems falling off the turntable at times of uneven track, such as the lead-up to a bridge. Does this help any?- 8 replies

thanks! The overhang actually could have been much worse... and, yes it has an interior, though it's not much compared to the last version: now it's only four gauges and a firebox door. thank you! Thanks, that's my favorite picture too. I can't remember how long I've had that yard limit sign together: its' gotta be going on 5 years!- 8 replies

This engine began life as Anthony Sava's 2-8-4 Berkshire based on the real Pere Marquette 1225, from which I purchased instructions of way back in 2012. I then modified the model with a new boiler, longer wheelbase (two extra drivers making it into 2-10-4), reddish brown exterior paint scheme, new cow-catcher, smoke-box door, and pistons. More recently, I reconfigured the engine back into a 2-8-4 Berkshire in order to add a better front pony truck, modeled after the one in the Emerald Night set. (10194) The engine handles better than the Texas version, and is easier to roll thanks to the improved pistons. Here is the engine on a curve to let you get an idea of the overhang. The firebox door maybe a little large, but I like it better than the original 4 x 4 dish that was on the original Berkshire way back in 2012 when I first built it. No ldd file is available, sorry! ...and here is a picture that looks good as a desktop on my computer: "Take it to the limit" Brick Railway Systems "Berkshire" 6297 meets Southern Pacific "Daylight" 4460 at the yard limit sign near Barrett's Station. And yes, the title is a nod at the Eagles song of the same name. Here is the train this engine pulls: The baggage car The three updated coaches.. and yes, I know the cars are a bit wonky in their placement: the first car is off the rails a bit, while the second is on a bit of a hill and the third is cut-off in the left edge. The observation car... this one features the 909 markings on the rear deck. Originally these cars were 30 studs long and 8 studs wide, plus their were six of them. Their length wrapped around my Dad's 8 foot-long layout, so I got rid of two of them, reducing the length dramatically but also reducing the number of cars to four. A Berkshire (not yet a Texas type at this point in time and way before being color-swapped to brown and going back to being a Berkshire) type pulling a skimpy four car train looked silly, so I came up with what you see here: five 24 stud-long train cars in 6 wide. Where did get the idea for them in the first place? They were inspired by a 8 wide Galaxy Express 999 MOC I saw years ago on Brickshelf. (see it here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=374748 ) The name of this train was changed to the tune of the Beatles song "One after 909" from the album "Let it Be". Then I tried a bunch of words after that go with 909, including the following: limited, express, cannonball, flyer, runner, and a bunch of other names and combination of said names I can't recall right now. Eventually, I ran into National Limited on accident when correcting a typo. I liked the way it sounded, and thus 909 National Limited was born. Unfortunately, their is no LDD file for the passenger train.

Ice Station Odyssey has been added to the first post! (Sorry, no LDD file is available for the complete base.)

It's just looks good.... I can't seem to describe it. I rode behind the 4-8-2 Frisco 1522 (in one of the coaches) on one of it's last runs before being put away in 2002... it hasn't been fired up since (the coaches and extra tender were sold) and I've always wanted to build one in LEGO... in fact, right now you inspired me to remake my Texas type back into Berkshire, though I did want to build a Mountain originally. (It just didn't pan out.)

This 4-8-2 loco is your best yet! I love how the domes look, and that you managed to fit in two L motors in such a cramped space is amazing. Keep on steaming!

The front part of this model was originally the blacksmith's shop part of set 70751, (Temple of Airjitzu) while the car was inspired by set 4728 (Escape from Privet Drive). I took the whole shop apart and added a swing-open back portion to the building, turning it into a house in the process. I added a similar yet sturdier styled roof, and a staircase to get to the upper floor. I then added interior details and a car that I had already obtained. Standing back for a second, I realized it looked a little like the cookie-cutter subdivision houses common in cities all over the USA after World War II, kinda like the one my grandmother used to live in. You could put a lot of these type of houses in a row, in all sorts of colors, and still make a typical late 1950's / early 1960's subdivision. Speaking of colors, you can change the medium blue to the following other colors: sand green, light bluish gray, black, dark red, blue, tan, dark bluish gray, red and yellow. The car is based on the one used in the movie "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets". This updated LEGO version features an remade hood / grille area and comes with an opening trunk. The rear of the house. I am actually going to modify the roof a bit when built in real life, and continue the slope of the house instead of abruptly cutting it off. The inside features a stove, couch, upright piano and stool, side table, bed, and phonograph. The piano was thrown in there because I couldn't think of anything to put there but a table, (and I wanted to put a piano somewhere in my town) and the large-cone-style phonograph probably is a little out-of-date for the 1960's. This is my updated version of the car in set 4728, (Escape from Privet Drive). That car is based on the one used in the movie "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets". In real life, this car type was built from 1959 - 1968 and was designed by the Ford Motor Company for use in the UK. The engine was a straight in-line four cylinder, and the body came in 2 door saloon, 3 door estate & 2 door panel van. (I think the LEGO version is the 2 door saloon) The rear of the car features a opening trunk and a license plate. Here is the owner of the house and car: me! (This mini-figure is NOT in the LDD file!) The LDD file for the house and car is available here: http://www.mocpages....1445877553m.lxf EDIT 1/11/16: (Version Two) Since the last time I uploaded this model on October 26th of 2015, I recolored the house to tan and redid the second floor. It also has a newer roof, with a larger front awning over the porch area. I did remove the upright piano and it's stool from the inside. These two items were replaced with a small kitchen table and chair. The rear of the house. The roof back here was modified as well. The inside features a stove, couch, kitchen table, and chair, side table, bed, and vintage phonograph. One again, the cone on the phonograph is a little out of date for the 1960's... Sorry! Here is the new LDD file for both the car and house: http://www.moc-pages...1452548291m.lxf

This building is my most recent form of Benny's Spaceship Shop. It sells all things Space themed, with Benny making model rockets in the back and a large model space city in the front window. Benny also lives on the upper floor. I already have the car, and just need to make the building in real life. please note, some prints are missing from the model: The sloped 4x2 sign out front is actually this piece: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=30363pb021#T=C&C=7 While the arch in the window display should feature this print: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4490pb02&idColor=7#T=C&C=7 Benny's upstairs living quarters include a stove, sink and bed while downstairs is the model space city and check out counter with model rocket. The 2x2 tile in front of the model rocket should be printed like this: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3068bpb0353#T=C&C=1 The rear of the building features a loading dock. I was inspired to build this model after seeing the dark red half-track / truck in set 60071, Hovercraft Arrest. The model looked easy to duplicate, but it proved difficult to create an exact copy. I then decided to take it in a another direction and create a generic American 1950's car, which eventually got turned into this version of Benny's Classic Space themed automobile. The model features a row of space-ship styled seats and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) the white tile above the rear bumper is supposed to be Benny's license plate. The CS logo part on the trunk is the same one from the store sign above the door. LDD file for the car and building: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1446486318m.lxf

Adventurers - Johnny Thunder's office and car Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=116699#entry2371667 LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1446323880m.lxf

(I have put the older pictures of the previous model in the spoiler tag below. This way, you can compare the models of the building and car.) This Adventurers model was inspired by my original Johnny Thunder office building from 2015. I modified it into a corner building with a tower like in set 10255 (assembly square). The building is modular, and comes apart into three sections: roof, second floor and main floor. This model is my actually second tallest creation, as it's shorter than Sam Sinister's Mansion and only slightly taller than my Saloon. Here you can see Johnny Thunder and his car (the aptly-named "Treasure Raider") outside the building. The rear of the building is blank, as it it would be sandwiched next to other buildings. The vent on the roof leads from the stove on the second floor. The lower floor features a cabinet from set 10228 (Haunted House) and a 1920's style ivory phone borrowed from set 10218 (Pet Shop). A hat rack (also from the Pet Shop set) is next to the wall opposite the desk. The far wall features some treasure from Johnny and his friends many adventurers, such as the Golden Shield from "Orient Expedition", a T-Rex tooth from "Dino Island", a trident from the "Quest for Atlantis", the replica hammer of the Thunder god from the "Age of Ragnarok", the helmet of a dwarf from "Middle Zealand", and many others artifacts. The upper floor features Johnny's bed, a stove, table with root beer bottle, and a radio / record player. This model was inspired by the tan car in set 7628 (Shanghai Chase) from the Indiana Jones them. The car now features a hard-top roof instead of the original fabric one, with one section of the roof being removable to allow for two figures to be seated inside plus a rear-mounted spare tire. The model also has a rear-mounted spare tire, located right next to the taillights. The inside of the car seats two figures side-by-side. 3/4/17 Major update complete: I added new pictures of the updated house and car, plus i put the older models into a spoiler tag for you to compare between old and new. Comments, Questions and Complaints are always welcome!
