This is the fourth version of the Joker's Lowrider-inspired car for Bob from the Neo Nexus Force. (a space faction I came up with after the LEGO Universe video game shut down, whose topic can be seen here) I was inspired to create a new front end grille for this car from two newer fender pieces, with one of them upside down to make a unique "O" effect. This very rare car is powered by a turbine, which means it can run on gasoline, diesel, alcohol, paint thinner, and even cheap perfume. It runs very efficiently at high speed, but gets very fuel-hungry at slow speeds, like sitting in bumper-to-bumper City traffic. Luckily for it's owner, Bob, the snowy tundra wastelands offer little time for sitting still, and plenty of space for getting up to very impressive speeds. And if he gets struck in a snowbank, the very high-heat exhaust (which can melt asphalt if stationary too long on City streets!), can easily break the car free with no problem. The rear of the car has a license plate and dual super-hot exhaust. As usual this printed part is missing from the hood. The roof of the car is easily removable to get at the mini-figures seats which allow for figures to sit side-by-side. The spacious opening trunk has plenty of room for luggage and the doors to the cabin area open as well. This LEGO model was partially inspired by the early 1960's Chrysler turbine car (one of the nine left is seen above, but it's not my picture). You can read more about the experimental car at this Wikipedia link on the car. Any thoughts, suggestions, complaints and ideas are always welcome. This car is on the "to be built" list after the current Western project is done. (and when funding allows!)

This fancy new 1920's-style model was inspired by those windscreen parts I have used here for wheel coverings. (part 6070, Windscreen 5 x 2 x 1 2/3, to be precise.) This car features the Neo Nexus Force symbol, and as such is Bob's car, to be featured on my LEGO Universe base. The car has opening doors, removable roof, and seating for one, while the rear of the car features a spare tire. I plan on getting the reactor room for the base finished soon (as seen in the previous post). I just have to wait for the funds to become available. Also, the 2018 Arctic themed CITY sets (one of them is shown above, picture from Brickset) are also on the to-build list, but first they need to have the dark / light blue stripped away for replacement with dark bluish gray / white for use with my older 2014 vehicles. Any suggestions, thoughts or complaints are always welcome!

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This Wild West model was originally LEGO set 79110 (Silver Mine Shootout) from the 2013 Lone Ranger theme. I added a more reinforced right wall and a real base-plate to support the model, as I know from experience it can be pretty flimsy if handed wrong. I also added the collapsing water tower from set 79111 (Constitution Train Chase) to the front corner as another action play feature. The model has also been heightened by five bricks to allow for regular train cars to pass through, but unfortunately it still isn't wide enough for custom locomotives with side-rods to fit through. (yet!) The natural rock formation (the skull) on top of the mine gives it it's name, and features a carved out section for two cannons to protect the mine, either from Native Americans wanting their sacred mountain back, or desperadoes looking to cash in on the (supposedly cursed) silver. This rear view features two spots for dynamite to "explode", removing large chunks of rock to expose the silver. Over on the front you can "blow up" the water tower, blocking the train tracks and trapping the silver gondolas outside the mine, ready to be pilfered by the bad guys. Oh, and you can also see the two cannons up in the skull in this view, ready to defend the mine! This model will be finished in real life very soon as the second to last order (the long-awaited complete set 79110) arrived yesterday, and will fit in with the other Western items I have made. (frontier town, Fort Legoredo, NA village, etc.) Just need the whole skull and some more tan parts to arrive, maybe by next week. Some of the collected parts are shown above. Any thoughts or comments?- 109 replies

This hover bike was built by Squidman in 2009 as part of payment for a debt to the Skull Twins, and was one of two nearly identical space hogs. The second bike had an inverted color scheme with mostly white instead of black and was called Ivory. The bike seen in this post is called Ebony, and is the last of it's kind, as the other skull twin and his bikes were swallowed by a black hole while trying to outrun the Space Police III forces around seven years ago. The bikes features two laser weapons around the skull ornament on the nose. This three-engine hover cycle is one of the fastest bikes in the Milky Way, seconded only to legendary "Rewind 3", which went so fast it broke the time barrier. So far, it hasn't showed up again, but that hasn't stopped bookies from taking bets stretching back past the last 100 years to next millennium (or two). One of the mysterious Skull Twins... no-one knows what's under the mask, with some saying that he has no face, just soul-piercing, glowing red eyes. The Ebony bike and it's Skull helmeted driver left our galaxy for the Andromeda galaxy due to law enforcement pressure in 2011, and upon his return in 2018 found the galaxy a much darker, more sinister place with the Space police IV dictatorship in place. Due to his disappearance in 2011, this skull twin was declared dead a long time ago and is using this legal void to commit a great many crimes. (The bike was remade into it's current form using only parts from the set, with the addition of the skull twin helmet, head, dark gray pants, a 2 x 2 DBG tile, and a 1 x 2 black plate. This list obviously does not include the white mini-figure stand! ) As usual, comments, questions and complaints are always welcome!

I was inspired to create this model from the 2018 Jurassic World set 75930, Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate, with some design cues from set 10228, Haunted House. The dollhouse-style model was built from the set pictures, with the play features removed and opening rear sections added to match the front half. The model also features the round "time window" for the mad scientist's experiments, along with lightning rods on top of the house. (for powering his experiments) Here is the in-universe backstory for the house and the enigmatic Doctor Harold Wormwood: This badly-preserved photograph (from April 1st, 1926) is all that physically remains of the infamous Wormwood Estate, reportedly taken just two weeks ways before Dr. Harold Wormwood started his time-window device for the first / last time, which resulted in a massive flash of light, leveling the mansion and leaving a large crater in the middle of the surrounding Louisiana bayou. Nothing remained of the building, the machine, or the Doctor in the immediate area, and it seems no noise was made during the explosion. Some crackpot "experts" of the time believed that the time window caused the house and grounds to move out of time itself, moving either forwards or backwards depending on the machine's setting. Of course, the truth may never be known, as the sunken crater is now filled with water (and alligators) from the nearby bayou... ...and here is the same picture without the special Google Images filters. The rear of the mansion features a conservatory and the chimney flue. The house folds apart, with the rear section opening in quarters up to 90 degrees, while the conservatory opens up to 180 to allow for figure placement. (Technic pins hold the model shut for transport and ease of handling) The bottom floor features the living room, while the second floor is the bedroom, with bed and pipe organ, plus a beating the still-heart of Dr. Wormwood's beloved deceased wife, Myrtle. The third floor features more crazy experiments, plus the stairway to his greatest achievement, the time window! The right rear quarter features the conservatory and some furniture on the second and third floors. This section also has stairs from first to second floors. The left rear quarter features the fireplace and a frozen fly monster that is all that remains of his first teleportation window project. The stairs to the third floor are also on this side. This car was originally designed by Tom.Netherton1 from Flickr as his Mercedes-Benz SSK 'Count Trossi' (seen here ) I heavily modified it into the car seen here, and it still needs some work to match the online version. It is fitted it with a single driver's seat, spare tire, and a reddish brown paint scheme. The rear of the model features a spare tire and license plate, plus it fits a figure in the drivers seat. This concludes the post for now, as the real life house is on the to-build list, while the car is already (mostly) built in real bricks. As usual, comments questions and complaints are always welcome!

I really like the two-seater TRON Legacy light runner MOD that was made by BrickBrosUK and posted on Brickset last week. I just love it's ingenuity and style while only using parts from TRON lightcycle set (number 21314). So, I made my own version and now, it even flies with a hover car modification. (AKA fold down wheels) It may be a far cry from the blue / orange bikes that was in the set, but I think with the new printed trans-red dish from the TIE micro fighter from this year's Star Wars range as tire rims, it could be even better when built in real life. The round 2x2 tiles in red are supposed to have this print. The diamond-like pieces are the car's headlights. The rear of the car while in driving mode. This vehicle has a steering wheel, something the original alternate model lacks due to part constraints. Flight mode, with the wheels turned down. This model would fit in rather nicely with my cyber punk models, although they are not set in the TRON universe. As usual, comments, questions and complaints are always welcome!

Looks like a very nice upgrade to the 1522 model! I really like the cab details, that is something that is very difficult. (for me at least) Keep up the good work!

BUMP: Attention @Dr.Cogg @sander1992 @turk187 @kieran and anyone else following this thread! I have revised the building into a more Victorian styled 10228-type building. See the first post for more details!
-
slight Bump: I have revised the color scheme to it's original medium nougat and put new pictures in the first post. I hope this satisfies the blue vs. yellow debaters @kieran @turk187 @sander1992 @Dr.Cogg. That way, nobody gets what they want! Oh, and for those curious few, the giant robot's topic can be found in a separate thread here.
-
Thanks for your suggestions, I'll consider them in the future. I just can't win no matter what I do... I guess I will stick with blue, as to me it looks best.
-
slight bump: The Brass Automaton now features a staff as seen in the first post, and with it comes refined pictures and a comparison to one of my BIONICLE figures. As this model is a steampunk figure, but is going to feature Johnny Thunder and friends, I figured it would be best to leave it in this sub-forum as it has certain elements of the Action Figure, Science Fiction, and Action & Adventure sub-forums.

You said it binds up in your personal message. I may have solution or two. Does your bogie slide side to side as shown above? it should either be connected like the Emerald Night is (which is the best option, IMHO), or, from what you've shown, it should stay behind on the track when the engine is lifted away like in @SavaTheAggie's 4-6-0 loco from 2007. -
Long before the Iron Giant began hurtling towards Rockwell, there was a prototype model, which landed on Earth close to 64 years earlier than the Iron Giant's 1957 landing. They were very similar robots, made by an Ancient race of beings that wanted to gather as much information about the Universe as possible. They first created this prototype model which was made mostly of brass, copper, and iron, but was powered by a highly advanced Fusion reactor that was powered by metals the robot consumed, usually uninhabited asteroids floating through space. Unlike the Iron Giant, this prototype was not able to re-assemble itself as it had a error in it's programming. In the year 1893, the then un-named Brass Automaton landed in the Pacific Ocean near the long-forgotten Dino Island. It created a tsunami and unhinged the island from the Earth's crust and as such the land began to slowly sink. The robot was first sighted by nearby Australian military sailors, who upon seeing the giant being arise from the water, tried to describe the being the best way they could through their wireless telegraph: they named it the Brass Automaton. Johnny Thunder and his Adventurers crew would later go looking for this great metal being after saving as many dinosaurs as possible from the sinking primeval island in 1923, but never saw it, as it was hiding in South American coastline to gather information on the dominant beings of Earth, also known as Humans. After staying relatively hidden in various secluded ocean floor places around the globe for around thirty years, the Brass Automaton was finished reading the minds off people for information on humans as a species: Our past, our present as of 1924, our origin (as it was then known), and our many languages, along with defenses, politics, and technology. After gathering all that intelligence, the Brass Automaton headed to the North Pole along the sea floor to transmit the required information to it's home planet using a faster-than-light sub-dimensional beacon. (Basically, a fancy radio) That is just about when a major solar storm hit the Earth, with the radiation hitting the atmosphere of the Earth and scrambling the outgoing signal into nonsense. Now the garbled signal was received by the home base, and as a precaution, the Iron Giant version of the Brass Automaton was dispatched as fast as possible to earth. (That would take it nearly 35 years for it to get there at all possible speed, which would require it to refuel once arriving on Earth, which is why the Iron Giant was at the power plant at the beginning of the movie, whereupon it's memory was scrambled by the high-voltage electricity.) After sending the garbled message and being struck by a passing icebreaker-ship on his trip southwards, the Brass Automaton was temporarily incapacitated. It was then discovered washed ashore at the southern tip of Greenland by Dr. Harold Wormwood and brought back in pieces to his stately laboratory / mansion in Legorado, Colorado, where he ran test after test on the alien visitor. By 1926, the mad scientist-type Doctor Wormwood had the resembled robot nearly reassembled, and was preparing to restart it when a Lord Sam Sinister came upon rumors of the robot and wanted it for his own nefarious desires, with Johnny Thunder close on his heels... This steampunk version of the Brass Automaton a recolored and modified version of Build Better Bricks' Iron Giant with the head of my previous @hachiroku version of the model (seen above) of the same robot's head added on... I consider it a mashup of the two models. I made it into steampunk colors (black, brown and dark gray) with an exhaust steam pipe at the back of the neck, and yes, that is a monocle / targeting computer over the right eye for use with the gun arm (it was included in the Build Better Bricks instructions) that I'm still considering trying to use. You also may have noticed, the model is incomplete in places - some things just don't lineup properly in LDD like they do in real life. When fully assembled IRL, it should look much better though. Here is the Brass Automaton's laser gun... probably not going to build this, but I MIGHT place it on a tank or something. This is what I've found so far for this model.... 100 parts down, about 650 left to go. Comments Questions, Complaints are welcome!

Main posted revised 3/19/18: Added clock tower and brick-built trains logos, plus redone interior details. Please see the first post for more of the updated pictures!

Thank you for your kind words @turk187! I am printing the window though, with the Star Wars print seen above. Also, I just revisited the rear of the building and added a (opening!) conservatory to spice it up a bit. And to answer your question: all my buildings stand semi-close, with only a couple studs between them. (maybe 10 studs maximum due to driveways)
-
Sands blue is just too expensive for my taste, though I did look into sand green at one point. Just finished adding a car and chimney flue to the revised building's file which is with the updated photos all in the first post!
-
Just messing around with different color options for the Mad Scientist building. Right now I'm considering medium blue and white as a possible choice.. does this look better @kieran @turk187 @sander1992? I can't do another dull building, as a bunch of my buildings are reddish brown or tan or dark bluish gray.
-
Thanks! I usually reserve lift-away levels for corner buildings like my saloon and Johnny Thunder office. (To be honest, I keep my town mostly boxed up: no room on the layout yet for it all!)

Train MOCs and Builders - Who/What is Your Inspiration?
Murdoch17 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Most recently @SavaTheAggie and his model's inspired me to make a Garratt somewhat inspired by his take on the odd-looking type of steam engine. Way back in 2013, this fellow called Fireglo450 over on Flickr co-inspired my first British trains along with with @ScotNick and his assorted Thomas the Tank engine models, as seen here. Oh, and a fellow called Steve B over on Flickr inspired me out of my comfort zone with his EP-2 "Bipolar" electric loco. I still need to build my own version, but it IS designed and ready to be built in real bricks. That's all I could think of right now, but that's not to say tons and TONs of people have helped me out over the last eight years on Eurobricks alone... and that doesn't count MOCpages, LEGO .com and Flickr, among others!- 87 replies
