Benny's Classic Space models - spaceships, robots, and buildings!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
The Universe is in chaos. Evil armies run amok, while sky-pirates prey on the biggest of space-freighters. Shadowy organizations with unknown motives leave inter-planetary space police and some stellar governments in chains of corruption and crime, while those who fight back are swept aside. Meanwhile, the astronauts of Classic Space are keeping as little contact as possible with the outside Universe beyond their little pocket dimension of time stuck some-when between 1978 to 1987. But this position is becoming impossible, with constant intrusion into their space by others and with the time-pocket becoming increasingly unstable. So, in the interest of seeking new allies and finding peace in the advanced modern world, a delegation of astronauts where given four years and several ships to do just that. The years is 2018, and what you are about to hear is called THE VOYAGER FILES... (In reality, this is just a picture of my Classic Space fleet so far.... there is more to come soon, though. I also thought up the above TV-style intro as if it were a 1990's sc-fi show, sorta like Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc...) This car and robot dog have been already ordered and on there way, and are to be built in early August. This big guy is to be ordered / built later this year. (I hope around early November) The house (as shown in the first real-world picture) gets trans-yellow windows and other miscellaneous stuff at the same time the car get a built in early August. Consider it an much-needed upgrade, which can be seen more of here. Well, what do you think? -
(sorry for the bump!) House model completely revised with new trans-yellow parts, while the car has been 100% torn apart and started over... coming (relatively) soon to real life! Compare the above real picture from 2016 to the digital screenshot from 2018!

It's actually a a "Bait" shop, as in Bait and Tackle or (maybe Bait and Switch, if you want to go with illegal business practices). But thanks for the compliment! Also, the mine has been updated in it's topic here.- 109 replies

Benny's Classic Space models - spaceships, robots, and buildings!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
This is Benny the 1980-something space guy and his robo-dog K8-E. (pronounced "Katy") They have just spruced up Benny's '79 Moonraker. The engine in this car has been upgraded from a gasoline chugging-monster into a more environmentally-friendly Hydrogen-3 Fusion engine to turn it into a modern mechanical beast with a retro exterior. The roof is removable, and the three seats can fit figures with air-tanks and helmets. The doors open in the front normally, but in the rear they open in a reversed pattern to create a wider opening. This printed 4 x 2 slope part goes on the nose of the car. -
Name of the fictional Lego train company?
Murdoch17 replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in LEGO Train Tech
That would have been me who said that. It seemed like Lego Rail Transport Society was good idea way back in 2013 when I made the above picture, but I think nowadays I like Lego Regional Transport System better, as said by @Andy Glascott. It makes more sense that way, with buses, trams, and trains being controlled by the same company... I even put it on my (custom) train station. -
Currently, it's Sirius / Eye in the Sky by the Alan Parsons Project, as part of my nearly three hour lineup of my favorite tunes of theirs, off every single album, including all-instrumental never-before-heard record called The Sicilian Defense, released in their complete works a few years back.

Benny's Classic Space models - spaceships, robots, and buildings!

Atmospheric Re-entry Imminent (OR, the story of how Benny gained his robotic arm) Benny the classic 1980's spaceman: What the status on our giant robot? Is he on schedule to meet up with our scientist friends at that Martian crystal miner outpost? You know we need him to solve that invading alien problem disrupting our fuel supplies. Random Technician: We've just lost contact, we think it may have been shot down over Neptune by someone or something. All communication ceased just five minutes ago.... I was just trying to reach you on the holo-phone. Benny (thinking deeply): Any indicators of who it might be? Any sub-space communications in the area or possibly any spy droids who could shoot him down? Technician: No sir, and a probe droid plowed the way earlier, and found nothing new on Neptune or anywhere near it... so it must have been either a freak accident, or... Benny: or what? Technician (whispering): ..it is possibly something we never thought off. Something even you could not prevent nor saw coming: Benny: Spyruis? Insectoids? laser sharks?! Technician: No, sir, Blacktron III. Maybe even using cloaking technology, that or... Benny: or what?!? Technician (eyes change color to red with evil power as he grabs Benny's right arm and begins to squeeze really hard): Internal sabotage! (this post is just to prove I'm not done with this idea, and am working on getting things in order for a future purchase of the robot. I also thought I'd tie it into the LEGO Movie 2 poster where Benny has a robotic arm with no explanation on why or how it got there) This piece of custom printed 8 x 16 retro-styled LEGO tile was gotten just yesterday from BrickBuildersPro, as seen here. It is currently awaiting the construction of the command center and walls. -
Looking good so far, love the color scheme!

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures

Revered among the west are the lawmen, the get-it-done type of folk, like Wyatt Earp, for example. This is the ride of not a single one of those type of men. The wagon you see here is the official Mayor's carriage of the town of Fort Legoredo. This wagon was used for the second though fifth mayors, with the first (the one who died before this wagon was delivered) being the only truly honest and good one in the bunch. He was pushed off of Boulder Cliff Canyon in 1872 by cattle ranchers for giving the Native Americans a fair share of the land they were owed in a treaty that was signed by all involved.... unfortunately, this mattered not to the ranchers. The next eight years and four mayors were full of lust, greed, bullets, and backstabbing. It wasn't until 1880 that a real era of economic boom and social change began in the Fort Legoredo area. Oh, and the Brickota tribe of Native Americans now has three tepees! (Please NOTE: The mayor's wagon was designed by Baskerville bricks as seen at this Bricklink store here.- 109 replies

I really liked the Winter Village train station when it came out, but it it is so small, with no back wall / roof. I tried for many months and multiple design changes to get it to work, and then I recently stripped away most of the basic framework underneath to give it a cleaner foundation. This last attempt finally gave me the needed inspiration for the model as shown below. This is the result, with the LDD file available here at Bricksafe. I added a freight office, a bathroom (the toilet design was stolen from the Modular Pet Shop set but the sink is my idea) and a "stone" fireplace. Their is a loading dock for the freight section, and two detachable platforms for added track-side length. Most of the rear wall opens up 90 degrees to allow access to the inside, and the roof comes off for viewing the passenger section. The tower should have three of this clock print, while the reddish brown 1 x 4 tile on the rooftop-sign should have this "Mount Clutchmore" print. The rear features a small truck loading platform with sliding door for the freight depot, plus the fireplace. (By the way: the window closest to the staircase is the ticket seller's window.) Here you can see all the many details of this model, including the removable roof, left and right sections of platform, swing open wall and the station itself. This new station might be built at some point in the future to replace my other rural station, of which about 60% of the older one's parts will be use to built this newer model. Fun Fact: This is my first building designed for my own personal LEGO town to include a bathroom! As usual, comments, questions, suggestions and complaints are always welcome!

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Chief Big Bear, his braves, and his lone tepee ...Notice I only said one tepee! The honor of having a roof belongs to the Chief (or so he says!) and his braves apparently aren't too happy about sleeping with their horses. In actuality, I ordered too few Lone Ranger tepee covers from Bricklink. (This is simply because I did not know only 1 top covers only half the teepe.... thus I needed to order 3 more covers for the three tepees I'm building.) In all, there will be five when it's all said and done with one for each Native American.- 109 replies

Question Regarding Lego Universe (game)
Murdoch17 replied to SNIPE's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LEGO Universe is unplayable, as the server holding all the info / game itself has been gone for years... You can't play or build with an Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) without the online part, sadly. -
Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Awesome I can't wait to see it @durazno33! Meanwhile, my Skull Mountain silver mine is being revised with a not-yet-built crane on the top of the newly made view-port wall. With these new additions I am trying to level off the roof at just about the base of the skull. (The window shown is a place holder for different panel parts I don't have yet, and will allow views into the mine when on display.) The exploding rock feature on this side still works, and I have included a place to hang the dynamite when it's not being used for play.- 109 replies

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
NEW wagon pictures! "Come one, Come all! Gather 'round for a cure to end the all-too-common cold!" It may say "bait shop" on the side, but it really is a patent "medicine" store, where Anton Dewey Cheatum makes his own brand of lethal cures using rattlesnake venom, whiskey and his special addictive ingredient... one or two tastes, and you'll come back for more until you drop (dead). Usually this happens after he has fled town in his red wagon with the citizens hard-earned cash. This Express Stagecoach model was mostly taken from set 79108 (Stagecoach Escape) from the 2013 Lone Ranger theme. I removed some of the random colors to give it a more unified look, and replaced red with yellow as the main color for this stage while the rear baggage ejection feature still works as originally designed. Here we see inside the stage, with the roof removed and doors opened. The brown box on the roof is the safe hauling the silver miner's pay, disguised as a steamer trunk to fool bandits. These wagons are for my townsfolk and their businesses. The yellow crates hold various liquor bottles for the Saloon, and the other wagon is headed for the mine with TNT and a barrel full of Whiskey. This 1860's US Army covered ammunition wagon with cannon is inspired by set 6716 (covered wagon) from 1996's Western theme. The cannon can come detached from the wagon, and become ready for action very quickly. (The snake oil delivery wagon and the two town wagons were designed by Baskerville bricks (seen at this Bricklink store here.) with some added flourish by me.)- 109 replies

I was inspired by a failed round house and shed from Ideas to make this Wild West arm-strong turn table in LDD. I'm thinking of doing this model instead of the the two track shed, as it is a bit smaller than the twice-as-tall shed.- 109 replies

Steampunk style models - giant robot, modular rocket and much more!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks @Ninja_Bait! I've just updated the main post to include a new name (Floyd Wayne) for the inventor, as well as a explanation as to what Wayne Highly Advanced Mechanisms stands for as his company. I even came up with a catch-phrase, seen as follows: Don't buy a scam, buy a WHAM! -
Steampunk style models - giant robot, modular rocket and much more!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I've actually just obtained some of the fancy trans-green goblets (seen below) as part of a trade. Thanks for the idea of Absinthe, these will work perfectly! Thanks again @Littleworlds for the ideas, and I will defiantly use souvenirs / trophy's thought when built! Thank you @danth! It was originally a LEGO Universe inspired model, but made to be structurally sound and build-able in real bricks. Thanks @Digger of Bricks! I really struggled with the various names, glad to know people like them! I think there is room @icm, it's just kinda hidden in that inside view. Also, probably only the Steampunk Iron Giant will be built... only have room for one, and this one is much cooler that the CS one. The reason the other one exists is because I wasn't sure at one point which one would be best suited for my needs... needless to say, steampunk won out! This early-1900's automobile was designed with the tan off-road model in set 76003 (Battle of Smallville) in mind, with a bit of 7628 (Peril in Peru) thrown in for good measure. I was aiming for continuing my Steampunk theme, but ran into a mental roadblock with regards to this car, and about four other prototypes that didn't make he cut. (Sadly, these other ones were accidentally saved over and are now gone, leaving this one the only survivor.) The rear of the model with the spare tire, brake lights, and exhaust pipes. The top of the car's hood should be printed, but i'm not telling what it looks like just yet! -
I've been on a steampunk kick recently... here are the fruits of my digital labors. The building's a WIP in the real world, while the rest will come later. From a WHAM product brochure (circa late 1909): "Here at WHAM (Wayne Highly Advanced Mechanisms) we always have our eyes on the horizon of the future. From our humble beginnings designing our first line of industrial hyper-reactors, to our more recent ideas of regular rockets to the moon, we here at WHAM are always striving to make our world - and beyond - a better place for us, our children, and so on out into the great unknown of the distant future. I should know, because as son of founder of WHAM, Dr. Lucius Wayne, I, Floyd Wayne am here for YOU. Don't believe me? You can see inside this brochure of our upcoming products for 1910 and decide for yourself. If you have any questions or requests for specific machines, please write to our Marketing and Public Relations department as shown on the back page and I'll see your special needs are filled. Remember: Don't buy a scam, buy a WHAM!" Here are the models I've worked on / revised: the giant robot, frog translator chair, laboratory building, automobile, and personal rocket. Because why should you not have a steam-powered mobile translator device for your highly intelligent pet Frog? Oh, and the inventor of this and much more is Lord Floyd Wayne, an eccentric Victorian inventor with whom failure is not an option. (In case anyone couldn't tell I was listening to Pink Floyd songs while creating these as that's where the inventor's first name came from. Oh, and as a fun note, the frog's chair actually began life as Davros' (creator of the Daleks) chair from Doctor Who. ) This rocket (named the Golden Bullet) is designed for atmospheric travel only, as it does not have a complete canopy nor air tanks for outer space travel. (actually, it was inspired by LEGO Universe' steampunk rocket, but with more recent parts and several recolors) The ship is powered three smaller booster motors and one larger main engine. (The rocket's original inspiration was taken from the first LEGO MMO from 2010, LEGO Universe.) The Golden Bullet comes apart in three sections, with the nose cone, cockpit and engines all being removable from each other. (NOTE: This print is missing from the dark tan 1 x 6 tiles on the driver's compartment.) This giant robot (named the Brass Man) was created by Lord Floyd Wayne as an tool for outer space exploration. Everything the robot sees is transmitted back to it's home base via a hyperspace sub-channel to be recorded and viewed for scientific study. The Brass Man is powered by a experimental hyper-matter reactor, which gives off steam as a safe and harmless by-product. (The robot was originally inspired by @hachiroku's Iron Giant, seen here) The monocle seen here is supposed to have this print. as a sort of targeting computer for weapons and for long-distance magnified viewing. The robot's main weapon is this laser pistol that disintegrates on contact. Only Lord Floyd (it's inventor) knows how it works, as he doesn't want any Earth governments to discover it's dark secrets. This device is only to be used for self-preservation and at that only as a last resort. I plan on using my version of the 2018 Marvel Comics 'infinity War" set 76108 (Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown) for a 1920's-flavored steampunk take on a mad scientist trying to open a time doorway into the beginning of the universe. What he doesn't know is that creatures from before our universe began were destroyed at that moment, so they will come through the doorway to the mid-1920's as a way of sheltering themselves from that fate. Unfortunately, being from that time frame, of course they want to end our Universe so they can live again in peace. As this takes place in my Adventure-verse, Johnny Thunder is tasked with shutting down the doorway before our universe sinks back to before the big bang... and Sam Sinister is trying to use the time / space doorway to achieve vast riches by robbing ancient cultures of their valuables using the Time Window, which draws the attention of the giant robot seen next to the building, leading to a cascading domino-like series of events that have not yet been written. The rear of the building has a ground-floor conservatory. The rearmost window on the bottom floor opens up 90 degrees to allow for figure placement in the conservatory. As a side note, the original Marvel model's exploding walls and drop-floors have been removed. The means from getting from one floor to another is a spiral staircase, and a small skylight has been added to the roof. The inside feature the following: The lower floor has a fireplace with clock on mantle, table with a pizza, and lamp on a side table. The middle floor features a marble bust on a printed safe, and a bed. The dark red thing in the greenish jar is a beating human heart. The upper floor features a desk with some sort of electricity storage machinery, several flasks, two bookcases, time portal computer and microscope. (Sadly, they were accidentally saved over and are now gone) The rear of the model with the spare tire, brake lights, and dual exhaust pipes. ...And that's it for now! Any questions, comments, complaints, and suggestions are always welcome!

As i said on Flickr, awesome work, can't wait to see where this ends up heading. also, you might want to post your big capital ships from Flickr in the Sci-Fi forum... they are too big to not be recognized for what they are - spectacular!

Benny's Classic Space models - spaceships, robots, and buildings!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Sorry for the late reply, @Digger of Bricks , but I don't have inside pictures yet. Right now, though, I've got a quite a bit to catch up on, building-wise! (the first post has been updated with a ton of new goodies)
