  1. I just struggle to imagine how they could make Hogwarts, without redoing the GH (but larger and more accurate), and it costing 500$. I honestly hope those 500$ all go towards the castle itself, and not other, small structures surrounding it a la Assault on Hoth. The GH represents about a 1/3 of the castle. If the other two thirds of the castle cost 500$, then they would probably end up being overscaled and overdetailed compared to the GH. Whereas if TLG remakes the GH in a larger and more accurate way, so that the rest of the castle can also be done at Disney Castle quality, I can see the set costing 500$. I just think it's very unlikely that TLG releases the GH we have already seen, as well as a larger GH that's included in the 500$ set. That's why I wonder how TLG is going to (allegedly) release a 500$ Hogwarts that doesn't include 1/3 of the castle.
  2. So am I. What I fear is going to happen is that TLG will just release the rest of the castle so that it connects to the great hall and the large tower. This would be a let down because then the whole castle will be in the same style as the Great Hall set, which IMO is nowhere near Disney Castle quality.
  3. Sell the old one before the price drops too much, and then buy the new Y-Wing. Look for comparison pics of the two Y-Wings and you'll see that the new one is much, much better and looks almost like an actual studio model.
  4. Might a technique like the one used with the water barrel on the roof of the Detective's Office work?
  5. 200$US converted to CAD is about 256$CAD. The 20$CAD added could be to deal with the CAD's performance lately. Now, are there any news of Star Wars VIP card promotions???
  6. It's not in scale with 75192, is it? It's much too big? I'm not pumped about a 250CAD price tag, especially if the set will look grossly out of scale with other minifig scale ships.
  7. I don't know how much impact the age of the movies has to do with their popularity. I grew up when the prequels were coming out, but I prefer much more the Original Trilogy, but that's just me, there are others that differ. Question is, which trilogy is more popular right now and which one will be in five or ten years? IIRC, TLG has made two (or four, if you count Darth Maul bust and Grievous) UCS sets from the prequels: Obi's starfighter and a Naboo starfighter. The question lies in "what's most likely to sell at a 250$ price tag?" If TLG is going to make a UCS set with a price of 400$+, they're going to play it safe. They'll be releasing what is most iconic, whether or not it has been made before (Millenium Falcon, Star Destroyer (rumors)) so that they're sure it will sell. Perhaps the two Prequel UCS's we've seen were TLG's dip in the pool, as though they were testing the market for PT UCS's. Perhaps they saw PT UCS's didn't sell well. Perhaps they messed up by choosing two not-very-popular ships to test the market. Whatever the case may be, it all boils down to popularity and how many people are willing to drop 250$+ on one set. Will we be seeing PT UCS's in the future? Probably. When? When people get sick of OT ships and re-releases? Probably! (BTW, a Venator would be neat. I wouldn't care about a Supremacy, since I don't care about the sequels. Another question could be: would TLG dare make a popular ship (big demographic) from an unpopular movie (small demographic) into a UCS?) Sorry for the long post, but I find TLG's reasoning behind the production and the choice of UCS's pretty interesting.
  8. Something from the Prequels or the Sequels would be refreshing, but TLG doesn't seem to like to venture outside the Original Trilogy, probably because OT sets are most likely to sell better than the other trilogies. Personally, I'm glad we're only getting OT UCS's so far (I only collect OT). Some nice ships that are yet to be made UCS are the Barge, AT-AT, TIE Bomber and Interceptor, Nebulon, Home One, A-Wing, Mos Eisley Cantina, etc. A minifigure-scale Barge would be pretty big, while also being smaller than the MF. A minifig-scale AT-AT would be monstruous and I'm not surprised it hasn't been done before, due to stability and whatnot.
  9. My, my, my, what have we here. If there is a UCS Sail Barge in the making (which would be amazing), at what production stage might it be? I hope TLG was being serious with that C&D, for it would sorta confirm an upcoming UCS set. Yay for more speculation and rumors!
  10. The minifigures are probably the only thing that will change from what we see right now to what will be released. 300$ (or even 250$ (300 CAD)) is way too much for this. I was expecting something taller and "busier" that would fit in better with Ninjago City.
  11. Right now in the LEGO Shop website there are only 50 sets that cost 100 pounds or more... out of 600+ products. I don't really care about the tinyfication of the ship in a bottle. I think the smaller, rounder bottle looks much better than the bigger, squarer one. Price still sucks (especially CAD), seeing as more than a fourth of the pieces are 1x1 blue studs. The original ships looks a hundred times better than the official LEGO set, though.
  12. That Statue of Liberty might be the first Architecture set I buy. Looking at it, it feels like it's around 35 cm tall. It's a perfect step between Architecture and Landmarks themes. Price will decide. Architecture sets are always too expensive for the finished model.
  13. No idea. I hope we get more deals other than on May (I assume we'll be getting some special May the 4th promos).
  14. I'd buy Assembly Square. It has a little bit of everything regarding details, architectural styles and building techniques. Beautiful and dynamic. If you want to play it really safe and not miss out on any of the modulars currently available, I guess you should buy Parisian Restaurant, since it's the oldest, but it will probably retire much, much later in 2018 or even early 2019.
  15. Sorry, thought it wasn't too big a deal. --------------------------------------------------- Good gravy! The Petite Malmaison is incredible! I love the roof and the garden. Very well done!
  16. Ça alors! La Petite Malmaison est incroyable! J'adore le toit et le jardin. Très bien fait!
  17. If you google "lego furniture pack" or something along the lines of that you can see old cuusoo projects with fantastic furniture. Non lego fan customers? If they have a modular they can always refurnish it if they want...
  18. Would it be like only one upgrade pack or multiples so you can choose how to furnish the building? I don't think selling the interior separately would be really necessary. I think most (if not all) people prefer a fully furnished interior. Your comment made me think of something else, though. What about a set à la City people pack but that's all about furniture? A set all about dressers, beds, desks, tables, ovens, bathtubs, toilets, showers, carpets, lamps, etc. That'd be amazing for customizing the interior of Modulars.
  19. Oooooh, moderny. Love it.
  20. Only playsets and minifigure scaled UCS sets for me, please. If it's a large scale like the TIE or the Snowspeeder, easy pass. More money for Creator Expert. I don't know about UCS ships that are still "small scale" (Star Destroyer, Rebel Blockade Runner, Super Star Destroyer). Last UCS set that was too small for minifig scale was the Super Star Destroyer, I believe. I don't know how I'd feel about a UCS Nebulon or Home One.
  21. The only critique I've seen about Market Street is that some people don't consider it an official modular. I think that's pretty dumb. It may have been designed by an fan, but it has been made into an official LEGO set that follows the rules of Modular Buildings. Imagine (just imagine, I know they probably won't) if LEGO Ideas were to release a modular that a fan made, would people consider it to be a modular like Cafe Corner or any of the others? I know I would. Design wise, Market Street is just fine. It's not not one of the best modulars but it fits in quite well with CC and GG.
  22. I own the Diner and, upon building it, I too was surprised about the simple positioning of the cups and pancakes on top of a non-studded surface. I might try to find a way to modify the bar and the tables to have some studs exposed, but what I have already done is modified the bar (not the stools) to have a minifigure seat on the bar stools without falling. All I did was modify the side of the bar, where the light bluish grey tiles are, by adding jumper plates. When placed at the right spot, you can attach the bottom of a minifigure's leg to the jumper plate and it'll seem like the figure is sitting on the bar stool.
  23. Never knew about this ship or the steroid troopers. I thought the outside of the MOC was cool, but when I saw the interior, dayum, I must say the ship is full of surprises. Well done!
