  1. Saturday I was able to run the 15 passenger cars with only the new/new connections, no neodymium magnet. Though I had to make sure I did not start the train on a curve and provide the power too quickly.
  2. I use a vinyl cutter to create stickers. The vinyl sticks pretty well to the sides of lego. Color matching can be a problem but the beneift I get is to be able to print in white. Since the letters are cut out, I don't have to worry about matching background colors. The other issue I have with the vinyl is if the letters get too small, then the cutting fails often.
  3. I belive it is a 3-wheeler ATV chassis :) http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30187b
  4. Not sure if you consider Creator separate from the CITY theme? If so, then I use the Modulars and Trains. Friends (mainly the small fluffy animals (squirrels, bunnies & foxes) some Techincs sets for construction equipment Lego Education Community Minifigure Set to bootstrap having enough minifigs.
  5. Nice! Are you going to bring it to Brickworld Chicago this year?
  6. Brickshelf is down right now and I believe that is where the images are hosted :(
  7. Nice!
  8. I did use a Bracket 1 x 4 - 1 x 2 (the yellow part) to hold the top inside the cab. I wanted to be able to have the sides open and not replaced with the clear wall panel.
  9. Here's my first attempt (I used the 1 x 1 x 1 Corner panel piece):
  10. I built a cube out of technics parts and Flex track to store 16 (4 x 4 configuration) of my spare cars. I've since out grown it and most of my trains are stored in containers ready to be taken to the next show.
  11. Nice build!
  12. If you can find the TH, grab it! Otherwise get the PC as it is rumored to be going out of stock. The PR is the only one you mention that should be around for a bit longer.
  13. I would like to see more animals as well. I've had an idea to create a circus train in Lego and been limited by the lack of animals in the proper scale. I have been less resistant to get the friends animal sets, I have penguins, squirrels, bunnies and foxes from the recent sets.
  14. Very nice MOC, I really enjoy the snot work for the pub's floor. Makes for a refreshing design. The arms are from the motorcycle mechanic series 10 collectable minifig. I'm guessing the torso and legs are from citizenbrick.com http://citizenbrick.com/products/ink-enthusiast
  15. I can only talk about the new/new connections. I have found sometimes I need to twist the cars to get the magents to align, once they align the connection is OK. I have run about 5-7 cars log w/o having to add an additional neodymium magnet. For my really long container train (26 cars), I always use the magnet right behind the engine. I'll be doing a test in a few weeks with a 15 car passenger train.
  16. Supported. I love the build, so many details. I do have one question, is the straw in yellow or tan (brick yellow)? the picture makes me think the former so it reads as cheese to me, hence the rat! :D
  17. Rename the modular line to be 'Main Street USA...' and have artificial cookie smells pumped out of the buildings? Would have the "necessary" play value :D
  18. Wow, just wow. It turned out <insert inadequate superlative here>!
  19. I finally finished my Illinois Central Maersk Version: Modeled after http://www.railpictu....1299518324.jpg I did have to move the 4x6 and 6x12 plates around to be able to handle the Operation Lifesaver decals. Internally it has been hacked up to handle the PF switch so I can have the front and rear motors running in opposite polarity on the same channel. The two headlights on the roof of the cab are lit by brickstuff lights attached to the battery box, so when the unit is on, the lights are on.
  20. I would like it, the PS is my favorite modular.
  21. Nice looking train!
  22. Yea I passed on getting the Yellow hand cart, went with red. I was able to find the roof and doors for much less. In the end I agree with the comments, if you *enjoy* the sets, it will be worth it :D - JImP
  23. Yea when I'm looking to build an out of print set, I look for a banged up box, used one already, unless it is a deal. Or I spend the time and bricklink the parts itself. Takes much longer but I don't feel bad for opening up a MISB box. But enjoy the builds! They are great sets.
  24. I use the LEGO rechargeable battery box for all my trains (I have 8 of them) and one recharger. At a show we had this weekend, one of our members was able to run the 60051 high speed passenger train for 6+ hours on a single charge. I get anywhere from 3 - 4 hours on a charge, though I run much longer trains. The recharger does *not* come with the battery. Here in the states it has been back ordered since Christmas and is not due until August 23rd, which seems strange. No one that I know has heard any reason why. I probably will break down and get an aftermarket one. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Power-Functions-Transformer-Charger-10VDC-8887
  25. Wow tkatt! I agree Scooby would be scared to be there, maybe Norman Bates would show up! Have you thought about doing the same type of treatment to the DO? It could have a nice film noir feel.
