I too have copies of the issues. It would be good to get the site back up or have a new site hosting some of the content. Wonder if we could get agreement/approval for a site like l-gauge.org. Until then, we still have the wayback machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20160306175606/http://railbricks.com/magazine

Does anyone know why railbricks went dark and will the old content be available somewhere (else)? Or is the reason it is down related to this proposal?

Woa! Very amazing. The Coffee Shop has cornered the market at that Train Station :) What kind of LED lights did you use, custom made or one of the third party vendors? The only thing I thought was jarring was the monorail changing direction w/o a pause in between, but I suspect that is the stock LEGO system.

Wow, looks very impressive! So the 4 axles on each bogie don't bind (too much) when going around the curves, or did you use some sort of sliding mechanism that I can't see?

Nice! Good luck with the premiere in 2 days!

AAA Battery Box (88000) vs. Rechargeable Battery Box (8878)
pirzyk replied to legotrainfan's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I go the other way. I have 10 or 11 LiPo battery packs, the oldest from 2009 and they all are still working well. I can get upto 7 hours on a charge (depending on how long the train I am running) and takes about 2 hours to charge up. I converted the Engine Train Yard to my recharging station while I swap out the engine. Ripping apart an engine to swap the batteries out is not an option, since I have shoved so much into my interiors and/or I have custom decals on the side of the battery box. I leave a small access plate to plug in the recharger, think the 4x4 plate on the Maersk. -
Nice! What is the overall height of the well + containers?
-
If this is truly a case of over production and LEGO or Amazon trying to dump stock, that mean trains will less likely be produced in the future. We don't want a repeat of the Santa Fe Super Chief.

Good to see Daylight refurbished. We were in Portland last year and saw the Daylight ripped down, got to look inside the firebox, etc. Oh and BTW nice model! :)

The best time is when the set is available and you have the money to buy it. There are stories throughout EB of people waiting to buy a set only it to be retired without notice by LEGO. The aftermarket for retired sets can get extremely expensive. Just look for a EN, Maersk or any of the retired Modulars. So if you find a deal and you can afford to buy it, you should.

There are 26 containers and 16 tanker cars. This is not even the longest we have done, last year at some show we did 26 + 6 tankers + 20 coal cars = 52. But since we didn't record it, did it really happen? :)

79110 MOD - Modular Train Tunnel - Wild West style
pirzyk replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Or you could just say you are doing period based tunnels :) as Jacob points out there are other places where it won't clear either. Our club standard is 14 1/2 brick clearance, yet when I run the train doublestacked the upper containers can bounce and run into bridges, etc. So I also only run it usually singlely stacked. -
79110 MOD - Modular Train Tunnel - Wild West style
pirzyk replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
How does the height compare to the double stacked containers from 10219 (Maersk)? I believe that is 14 bricks high. -
Does it count if we build purposely with really old brick to get that dilapidated look? :)
-
Is this really true? (That LEGO is the only producer). What about ME Models, Brickforge, Astini, and the other clone makers? Seems they may not know about the others or are the purposely not counting them?

1) Signed up through S@H. I use it whenever I purchase any product from the company itself, both on the S@H site and in LEGO stores. I do find people are surprised that I have my name printed on the VIP card. This should be done more often if possible. 2) The 5% points we get back, I use it to buy newer sets / pick-a-brick that I want to. Double points are a bonus! 3) It does not influence my choice of whether or not to buy a set, but rather if I buy it directly from LEGO vs 3rd party retailer. 4) a) More notifications of in store specials. I find out about most of them through having store employees part of our LUG. b) Bring back the pre-release exclusive purchases a week or so before the release date. c) Maybe have a tier of VIP cards depeneding on how long and how many purchases the customer did (i.e. silver, gold, platnum, etc). d) Have access to a read only API so we can programatically query what bricks are available in the pick-a-brick and bricks-and-pieces (maybe even sets) so we can plan orders easier. 5) VIPs should be treated like you should treat any good customer you have a record of their purchase history. Purchase limits and other behavours that may cause VIPs to be banned should be published, well defined and not arbitrary. The stories we hear on EB about VIPs being banned from LEGO for unknown reasons should never happen.

Do we know if the soccer ball is a new mould or the older GBC compatible one?

REVIEW: 71012 LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1
pirzyk replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes this will be a popular series as you have the Union of 2 fandoms, LEGO and Disney and the latter is much, much larger and a very rabbid fanbase. Just look at all the D23 conventions. -
Help required with Rechargable Battery Packs
pirzyk replied to TheLegoNewbie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
So the Rechargable battery pack (8878) is the same size as the non-rechargable one (88000) that comes in the set. -
Build what you like. Build what you know. Have fun :)

CM4Sci: is the name right? As Jacob/xboxtravis states, Cinderella's Castle is located at Walt Disney World, not (the original) Disneyland, that is Sleeping Beauty's Castle. I'd be surprised Disney allowed that specific tiltle unless it is branded as Tokyo Disneyland's castle. I'm still intrigued about this and am considering it, depending on the set details. One other question, do we know if it is minfig or minidolls? - JimP

I would be interested in most of these items with the Roundtable or Bridge building being my top choices.
