    10251 Brick Bank

I *think* we got early access (like the 28th Dec) for the DO, but I could be wrong. I look every so often to see if there is an updated status. I do note we did *not* get early access for the Dr Who Ideas set :(
  2. Looking forward to seeing the rolling stock too. Nice engines! Zephyr we had our first show with the R104 and R88 curves, it was awesome! :P
  3. It may also be a sign of how long one has been an AFOL. I am starting to get a backlog of sets (the Scooby Doo and Heavy Hauler) that I want to build, but also I have a few sets I plan to 'archive' (Lone ranger train, Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture sets, 3rd Pet Shop, etc). My Partner has more sets in her backlog than she has built, due to time and space constraints. I'm personally still limited in getting parts for my current projects, my list seems never to shrink.
  4. Interesting I think it looks fine. The only thing I may change is the AL'S sign, maybe change the background color? How about in a Dark Green or make it stick out as an attachment to the building?
  5. Nice video, though the kid cam footage is a bit hurl inducing
  6. There is also the train from John Henry, the hammer and drill make it different. http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/John_Henry

    Door colours

There is also part 60623 that comes in reddish brown, but it has four windows. What about doing a brick built door instead?
  8. Great model! I would avoid painting it. You could swap the 1x2 Grill pieces with Metallic Silver ones, though I think finding other parts will be really hard.
  9. Wow... As another Brickstuff satisfied customer I am in awe in how much you already have lit. One thing I want to steal found interesting :) was your Palm trees, any chance I can see a pic of how you attached the bush and frawns to the top of the tree?
  10. The cutouts are different sizes, from the part names: 2924a - Train Front with 1 x 4 x 3 Cutout 2924b - Train Front with 1 x 4 x 2 Cutout note the 3 vs 2 Cutout.

PennLUG had one 2 or 3 years ago at Brickworld Chicago along with a Subway station. The problem is it limits the viewing as they made a porthole on the side of their display so you could see it.
  12. Slightly off topic, how many Modulars have stickers? I can only think of the PC, I suspect I am missing at least another one. The HH does not quite count.
  13. I'm going to use vinyl stickers to cover the Infrared receiver and battery pack in white. I am not sure that will work in your case as you will have a hard time matching colors. You may have to resort to a redesign or paint. Not if you can redesign to use 44728 in dark blue? One of the only brackets I could find in that color, though 3956 is probably not realistic to use. There is always the headlight brick but you will then have that ugly square hole on the outside.
  14. I kinda think so too. What does the nails/fasteners in the wood crate look like and what are they made out of? Were all the rails that bad or only the ones touching the wood?
  15. Following up on my Christmas Unikitty, I present Halloween Bat-Unikitty: Ready to go out on the town collecting treats from everyone. Maybe she will run into Spider-Kitty in her travels.
  16. Redoing my PF'ed GP-38 in ICG Livery colors (currently the red/gray GP-38 here), though I have not decided between this or this. The former will take more vinyl sticker work and I am not sure how many people will recognize it as an ICG. After that, I am not sure if I want to do next. The choices are Casey Jones ICRR 201, the Green Diamond, or the Panama Limited.
  17. If you have any thought about getting the Pet Shop, I would grab it now! It is expected to be the next one to go into retirement. I like it because it was the first Modular I got (and still the only one I have multiples of) and the 2 x 16x32 buildings is nice. Between the PC and PR, I think the PC will retire before the PR so go that way, or get both :) Just don't wait too long to pick up which ever you decide to get.

I'm not sure it is an unpopular opinion. Several of the first posts in this thread were positive and I like it as well. I know quite a few folks in my LUG like the DO, they don't post much here on EB. I guess I am trying to say I think the thread is not a good random sample. You will mainly get people who are at the extremes of the issue, they really, really like it or really really hate it. There is that threshold that has to be overcome to be willing to post ones thoughts.
  19. I have 3 Pet Shops (1 MISB) and 1 each of all the rest, the Market Street is a BL with alternate colors.
  20. I like this idea, similar to zephry1934 doing alternate builds for 60052 (North American Cargo Train). I do not know of anyone currently doing this for Modulars :(
  21. There is a BNSF tanker car, Florida East Coast Railway and the Illinois Traction company. I am not 100% sure the Dark Orange will work for the FEC, as that is closer to Red. Good luck!
  22. It wasn't until the second photo where I recognized the nighthawks imagery. Very well done!
  23. I added some lesser known characters to my list: Oswald (it really all started with a Rabbit) Mickey (maybe as in Runaway Brain) Minnie Stitch Mulan Roger Rabbit* Jessica Rabbit (though not sure which outfit, the original, tummy trouble or trail mix up) :) Belle (reading a book) Beast Pongo Perdita Flamigo with Yo-Yo (Fantasia 2000, The Carnival of the Animals) Jack Skellington & Zero Gurgi Kronk Greasy, Wheezy, Psycho, Stupid and Smartass (Weasles from Who Framed Roger Rabbit). * We consider Roger Rabbit, et.al. part of the Disney Patheon as they are listed in the Encylopedia of Walt Disney Animated Characters.
  24. I actually like the back end, looks a bit more polished than the front. Nice build overall!
  25. Anyone else notice that the US S@H is sold out for this series? http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Minifigures-Series-14-Monsters-71010
