  1. I would be interested as well in a subscription and could provide some volunteer resources.
  2. Hi All, I picked up the Friends Juice bar when it went on clearance last year and finally got around to creating a 16 wide modular out of it. The first floor is mostly straight out of the set, except for the minifigs and Rosie (from Eclipse Grafxs). Extra seating can be found on the second floor and a rooftop garden suppling some of the fresh ingredients. C&C welcome
  3. May I present Reedy Creek Fire District Station (on Walt Disney World Property):
  4. Wow! To me, the grill work is what stands out and makes it look like a Ford. One question I had for you is your choice of the white jumper brick for the middle light? I would have tried to put a Trans Clear tile there instead facing the other way. I would also want to light the model with a nice strobe effect for all the lights :)
  5. I use a foam core board to slide under the baseplates of the Eiffel Tower base and put it into a 24" x 24" box. Looks like your base is 2x2 baseplates square, the same size and you already have it on a board. Sliding it on and off that board at the show will be the trickiest part. Good luck! The building is awesome. I love all the details.
  6. What I've done when I had this situation is use the 20cm extension cord and then attach both motors to the other end of the cord.
  7. Thanks all for the comments. Railfan9: I did know about the backstory when I found the pic, it is a sad story.
  8. Hi All, Here's my first Train MOC/MOD of 2016, created a few PFed versions of the BNSF GP-38. The first one (Santa Fe 2456) I did a few years ago and since the battery box and the Receiver were exposed I had to pick a livery color that would be plausible: you should be able to see the connectors for the Receiver are in the cab and the sensor is right after the horns. The last technics disc is used as the on/off button for the battery, and the headlights do work when the battery is on. The second engine is the ICG 9546 I just completed last week: I made 2 changes to the above Santa Fe model with this one, first was to change out the 4L bar for a 3L on the front railings (I think it is more scale accurate). The second change is on the snot sloped back end, I added another plate in depth to hold the parts together, so I could have the color lines going around the back end. You can see that better in this pic: In this (and the following model) I used vinyl cut to size to cover up the battery box and receiver. White was an easier choice but I was lucky I found a good match on the Orange. The vendor had it labeled as Persimmon, their Orange was much darker. If I had been able to brick build the back, I would have had the slight jump against the snot back end. I am also waiting for the Hand Rails (#6583) to come out in Orange (they do exist in LDD that way). My final moc is another ICG, but the specially painted ICG 1776, I used this pic as my source: And here is my representation: There are 2 changes I made to the basic model, first was using a 1 x 6 Tile on the undercarriage (instead of a 1 x 4) and using the 6.5L umbrella stands for the railings, as there are on 19L hose tubes available. I might swap that out for 14 or 16 Gauge wire as mentioned in the other discussion. I am ecstatic how the vinyl lettering came out on the 1 x 6 Tile plate but I am not sure the eagle's beak came out well, I might have yet another crack at redoing the pin striping. Enjoy, C&C welcome.
  9. I suspect the price goes up on B&P as their stock goes down. Train buffer 1 is currently $4.00 USD and 2 is $3.74.
  10. There is also a product called homasote that some model train folks use. It is compressed newspaper and comes in 4' x 8' sheets at some of the local home improvement stores. It would be cheaper than the cork but also is very messy (dusty) when cutting it. It has very good sound deading properties.
  11. +1 As a PF person, I still would support you in your 9V adventure for the option to get unique geometries of track. If you are going to attempt a double crossover, I would request having a mode where you can run both tracks as straights, something that the LEGO double cross over can't really do (unless you force very specific directions).
  12. Can we see more pics, like from the back? Looks good so far, smaller than other chairs I've seen.
  13. Woundn't this be too close to a re-release of the Santa Fe Super Chief? On the rumor, a Christmas train implies to me a steam engine and I would be thrilled. While I am mostly a diesel guy, I also have the EN as my first post Dark Age set and would like to dabble more in steam.
  14. I will say I have bought into the Friends sets, but mainly for the animals. I put the animals in my displays and it is very interesting to see who sees them. I am starting to convert some of the sets to modulars, and all my minidols go to Modulex Guy :) I am wondering what he is up to....
  15. If there is not a lego store near by, you can also order them from the Shop @ Home site: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Creator-ByTheme There are 5 currently available, though I hear the Pet Store will be retired any time now, so if you want it, I would get it now.
  16. Here's the Museum Break in as a modular http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=531005 I am working on the Friends' Grand Hotel and Juice Bar as 2 more modulars. The latter will be only a 16x32.
  17. It is the oldest of the current Modulars and all the newer ones have more details spent on the interiors. You may want to compare the PS to its contemporaries, like the Fire Brigade, Town Hall and Grand Emporium.
  18. Medium grey? The only color choices I have seen are Light Bluish Grey (new light grey) vs Dark Bluish Gray (new dark grey). The Creator modulars come with Dark Bluish Gray as the sidewalks. I have continued that trend and I am happy with it. Our LUG I would say is about 50/50 between light and dark bley. There is one person who uses white still. Which do you like better? The only other point I can bring up is to pick a color that is currently being produced as opposed to a discontinued color.
  19. Not technically LEGO but I thought very interesting :) http://news.sky.com/story/1619223/full-steam-ahead-for-flying-scotsmans-return

    10251 Brick Bank

It is for doing the corner snot work with the grey bars. It is 1 2/3 bricks tall. See Krystal's review for more details.
  21. Looks to me like he is using the LiPo battery pack (the small charging hole on the left of the photo) so no need to remove the battery itself. I found having a second tender is a nice bonus to have the train running all the time (one charging while the other is running). Farmer Harv: nice idea to use the boat bottom plate for the connection.
  22. Good luck! The only comment I can make so far is you may or may not want to limit your layout to be 80" wide. I found that is about the limit I can reach the center of my layout (120x80) reasonably. Looking forward to seeing future updates!
  23. I'd still like to see Roger&Jessica, Lilo&Stitc, and Mulan but that is just my Feature Animation FL bias...
  24. I first started with the plastic tables, the only issues I found was the size (they are not multiple of baseplates) and height. I am 6' 4" (1.93m) and using the NILTC standard tables saves my back as well. I have 4 60x40" tables at 36" high. Our tables have adjustable feet so I can align the tables with each other so baseplates crossing the tables are not uneven. The plastic tables I had to use shims and it did not work that well.
  25. Graph paper and a pencil. I keep the old layouts to refer to for ideas. Maybe some day someone will have track planning software for a Mac.
