  4. I don't have any experience with Eneloop batteries but if your want to get better performance you could use three IMR batteries and three dummy batteries. Though this could damage your LEGO because of the over voltage (11.1 volts instead of 9 volts).

  9. After months of construction, it's finally done. The Toyota Hilux (N40 generation) is one of the best pickup trucks ever. Often thought of as tough (that's and understatement), Top Gear failed at killing it by drowning it, setting fire to it, and putting it on top of a building that was then blown up. It took me around 6 months of on and off building to perfect this truck. It originally intended to have a two speed automatic gearbox, but it proved to be too inefficient. Then I got the 42043 and thought of creating a manual high-low range gearbox instead. This gearbox came out much more efficient than the previous one, so I stuck with it. Specs: - Power - AAA Battery Box - Propulsion - 1 XL Motor - Steering - 1 Servo - Control - V1 Reciever - High Range Gear Ratio - 1:2.334 - Low Range Gear Ratio - 1:3.89 And of course the mandatory shot from below Thanks

  14. Really nice little car, seems like a ton of fun to drive around. However, I do not see how you managed to reach a top speed of 14 km/h, I did the math and at 7.2 volts with that gear ratio the car can only theoretically go at 11.4 km/h without friction on a flat surface.

  17. I'm not perfectly sure how it stays balanced but if I were to guess, I would think that it works the same as a bike. The gyroscopic forces of the wheels keep it from falling over.

  20. Thanks, and yes it is rather fast, I think approximately 13 km/h. If you do use the tire squeezing idea, make you use the older rims that do not have four reinforcement struts or else the tire will not stay in place. This is the older version of the rim. see how there is no extra ridge going from the top to the bottom of the rim. This is the newer version of the rim. See the extra connector piece.
  21. Last weekend, I wanted to see how small of a RC motorcycle I could build. A day later and this came out. Its powered by the slow output of the buggy motor. The wheels are regular 56 x 26 balloon tires but squeeze to fit the inner ridges of the rim. This is the make the tire thinner and have a larger diameter. Here is a picture to show the size difference between the normal tire (left) and the thinner tire (right). As a battery, (purists look away) I used a 9 volt battery with a custom 9V connector to pf plug adapter that I made from a broken switch. The steering is very simple. The front wheel is free to turn from side to side and has a positive caster angle. The 9 volt battery is connected to the servo's output. This means as the motorcycle moves forwards, the wheel will recenter automatically but when the servo moves the battery, the bike will lean to one side. There are also small wheels to stabilize it during sharp turns. And of course the picture from below, but in this case, it isn't very interesting. A video will come shortly if the weather clears up.
  22. We have seen this poster more than a year ago so I'm pretty sure TLG is not going to release it as the IP car.
