  2. As many of you might have seen in Nicjasno's BMW e30 build episode 13, he's counting on volunteers to reverse engineer the chassis and build the body. So I decided to take up the challenge and reverse engineer the car. I first started with the rear suspension, since its simpler than the front one, and you may notice a bit of color vomit due to my lack of similar color pieces. I don't have the custom mini turntable hubs, so I just built place holders. After the rear suspension, I started on the front; first I tackled the hubs. Then, I moved onto the rest of the front suspension. Next up, the chassis, so stay tuned.

  5. Really nice car! I've always dreamed of doing something like this but my wallet doesn't exactly agree. I just built an electric skateboard, with a 5065 275kv brushless outrunner and a custom made 36v battery, but I don't think LEGO would do very well with such power. I am thinking of using a small 3000kv brushless system in a lego car, but this is just and idea. I was wondering about your parts, how many amps you pull, how many kv your motor is and where you bought everything?
  6. Yeah, it might not comply with their policies. Thanks for all the compliments Milan! The little pulley wheels are on there pretty well and have never fallen off. I'm no physicist, but I'm pretty they don't fall because the forces are applied sideways, perpendicular to the direction of it falling off. Sorry about the pictures, it's all fixed. The little axles hold back the rubber band, just pull the trigger, then the axles move down. You're right, it's a bit ugly but I really don't care, I just love the power. Like I said above, the forces applied on the pulley are sideways so it doesn't pop out.
  7. So after a few month pause away from LEGO, instead focusing on my electric skateboard, I'm back with a new powerful creation. This crossbow only took a few hours to construct and is a ton of fun. It shoots anything that is 1 stud wide and 1 stud high. This crossbow is immensely powerful, packing quite a punch; if you do try to recreate one, use common sense and don't shoot living things. It uses one long rubber band to propel the projectiles and it has a 32 stud draw. It has simple iron sights and it's rather accurate plus it has a crazy long range, I shot it straight up from my balcony and it went out of sight. I calculated the speed of the projectile to be 80km/h, and no I'm not lying, the calculations are in the video. Here is a terrible picture of a little doohickey being shot. I hope you guys liked my crossbow, any feedback would be appreciated.
  8. I broke like 3M motors, damaged a servo, damaged an XL motor, damaged 2 receivers, and broke a PF switch. Lego really needs to up their wire game.
  9. Well after a little pause from LEGO, I've finally returned by trying to make a nice little trophy truck. I was using two 4.8 volt NiCd packs in series and a custom adapter similar to the minizip, and when I plugged it into the receiver, the connectors got very hot-even meting some the the connector. Now, the receiver no longer works, I have tested it with all my battery boxs but still no sign of life. It couldn't be due to over-voltage as PF is rated for 11V and my pack was 9.6. Could I have gotten the polarity wrong, but this seem strange that there would be no reverse polarity protection inside the receiver. I even opened up the receiver, but it looked all okay. Does anyone know why this could have happened or how to fix it?

  13. To accurately control the steering, I am using another cylinder, like in this picture. The forks move around 20 studs. Yes, I am referring to the engine, the LPE or Lego Pneumatic Engine It does not stretch the pump for me, there is some slack in the pump so it works fine.
  14. This is my entry for the long waited pneumatics contest. A forklift, that uses an i2 LPE with a pneumatic drive/reverse gearbox, pneumatic steering, fork lift with tilting and probably some other functions. The whole contraption will be powered from a buggy motor pump. and controlled through a tethered (with the tubes) remote. The forklift part The forks. The powerhouse, aka the LPE which to my knowledge the the most compact i2 with large cylinders. Now the Drive/Reverse gearbox. And it paired with the LPE Now the steering. And the whole chassis And finally the pump And now the controller; I have only completed one joystick (this one is the for steering and drive) More progress will follow in the next week.   15. You can use ANY type of motor, as long as it's operating a pump. I would say yes. You can use ANY type of motor, as long as it's operating a pump. PF or other motorization is NOT permitted for non pump functions I would say no.
  16. Really cool concept! On a side note, my bike can run without the training wheels, but it can't make too sharp turns without toppling over.
  17. It didn't break any pieces but the piston did separate often. I actually don't think that the engine would have enough torque move two sets of worm gears, but thanks for the idea. The app I'm using detects the time it takes to complete a rotation by shortly covering the proximity censor each rotation. Well your's sure looks better than mine. Ohh Mythbusters!
  18. This is a medium sized vacuum engine, inspired by JJ2's engine. It is double acting, but it must still have a flywheel to overcome the deadpoints and to keep it smooth. As the crankshaft rotates, the cylinder oscillates, when it leans to one side, the air is sucked, causing the piston to move and continuing the cycle. This engine is rather fast, I measured it and it clocked in at over 6600rpm. However I'm not to sure if I should be trusting the app. I also used tape on some parts of the cylinder, but do you think this could be considered cheating?

  20. I have made a few cars with the train motor before I got my buggy motor. This is the only one I have a video of. Without the body work, it will drift on tiles pretty well.
  21. The car looks great, really well done! Maybe you could make a small engine by using the fake Lego engine components, like this. I would definitely recommend you to look at his channel for more videos and info about the engine. I'm not sure if it would have enough power to move the E30, but with your skills, I'm sure you could improve it.
  22. Hey, I was wondering whether anyone had some ideas for 17-19 wide independent steered suspension. I would like it to look like an Ariel nomad's suspension. I particularly want to have the angled A arms (white lines), they should be approximately 6 studs long. Any help would be really appreciated.
  23. Really cool concept, I will definitely be using it in my bikes. And for some inspiration on how to make working bikes, I would definitely check out Slewentogzz's bikes. And my bike too (shameless plug )
