  2. I know it was very complex to make the lowering mechanism. But what I meant by more complex geometry are the angles - caster, camber, kingpin - and ackermann steering. Do you have another car planned or you need some rest to build another masterpiece?
  3. How long did it take to build it? From idea to finishing? Is servo directly connected to the rack, or is there some gearing? The steering lock could be better. Did you think about using m motor for steering? And more complex front suspension geometry?

  6. Thank youfor your answer. But let's look at this picture. The steering arm is one stud closer to the wheel centre. And when we draw the imaginary line through steering arm pivot point and lower arm pivot point in the direction toward the rear axle, we should get the same, more or less, situation when the gear rack would be placed behind front axle and steering arm placed one stud closer to the centre of the vehicle than steering arm pivot point. That results in ackermann geometry, am I right?
  7. Hello, I was watching Nicjasno's videos and some questions arosed. Let's say I have front SLA double wishbone suspension, no drive, lower arm is 6 studs long, upper arm is 5 studs long, there is a kingpin inclination and caster angle. I want to have ackermann steering and avoid bump steer. Where should I put the steering arm and how long should it be for steering rack ahead of front axle or behind it? Should it be 6 studs long when it is closer to the lower arm and 5 studs long when closer to the upper one? And another situation - let's say I have multilink suspension - two angled upper links and two angled bottom links, bottom ones are longer, there is also a kingpin inclination and caster angle, no drive. The question remains the same I will appreciate your advice ! Thank you in advance.

  9. Yes, if placing the rack in front ofthe axle, its pivot point should be more to the outside. Do Porsche rims allow for placing 1x2 axle-pin hole connector so that the pin hole is oriented toward the outside of the car?
  10. Yes, it is a problem, because if you want to build a specific model, then you have to follow its measurements and try replicate it as much as possible. But if you want to build a 1:8 scale model, then do it and choose another one, more suitable for your bricks availability. Simple as that
  11. Awesome gearbox! As far as the bodywork is concerned, my only nitpick is that I would use another flex axle above front wheelarches to close the gap a bit. Otherwise it is perfect! Few 'buts' about the mechanics though. Why typical, old as world, double wishbone suspension? And steering links longer than wishbones? And no ackermann steering?

  15. Gentlemen, thank you for your answers and explaining this topic to me. Look here at Madoca's Pickup. There is a reduction in rear hubs, meaning that rear wheels get more torque than front wheels and their rotational speed is lower than front ones'. Is it compensated by the central diff? As we can see in the video, the model drives well, no slip occurs.

  17. Hello all, I have a question regarding torque distribution in all wheel drive system. Maybe someone with better knowledge could help me. I cannot build right now, so I am not able to see if it works. Let's say I would like to implement torque vectoring to the drivetrain - more torque to the rear wheels and less torque to the front ones. Am I correct that I should gear down the axle coming out from the center differential to the rear axle and gear up the axle to the front axle? Won't the wheels slip because of different rotational speed? Thank you!
  18. The gear rack may be installed either behind or front of the axle. The thing is that for front axle with front mounted rack, its pivot points should be further from the center of the vehicle, so the line leaded through this pivot point and suspended wheel pivot point reaches the centre of the rear axle. The same rule applies to the gear rack mounted behind the front axle. Look here: For steering in the rear axle, the lines leaded through steering pivot points and suspended wheel pivot points should meet in the centre of the vehicle. Ideally of course.

  22. I agree that there might be a collision. Vertical beams with definitely reduce the steering radius.
  23. It would be more difficult to build, because top part of the famous Aston's grill is the part of the hood. If I could suggest next models - maybe a BMW M3? Or Maserati Quattroporte? Have you thought about making front axles more realistic? I mean caster, ackermann and kingpin for example?
