  1. It would be more difficult to build, because top part of the famous Aston's grill is the part of the hood. If I could suggest next models - maybe a BMW M3? Or Maserati Quattroporte? Have you thought about making front axles more realistic? I mean caster, ackermann and kingpin for example?
  2. Wonderful creation! Those curved panels do the job. My only nitpick is that the hood should open the other way round I think. I am curious what will be your next build. Do you have some list of your planned projects? Do you take any suggestions ?
  3. I am quite happy with the front axle. I added another crossblock connector to support the 5.5L axle and used 6L thin liftarms to connect lower wishbone to the upper structure. It has also sway bar. It has one hard and one soft shock, but the angle of mounting them and upper links instead of one solid wishbone makes the suspension very soft. Wheel touches the soft axle and whole front of the car is less than one stud above the ground. The full shot how it looks now: For now I won't update the LXF. I want to finish this car and move to another one :) UPDATE: I changed soft front shocks for hard ones. Now the suspension is much better. I tried to implement the torsion bar, but I failed, because bottom wishbone is parallel to the vehicle. Now I will continue the body work starting from the rear doors.
  4. Almost a year after last post, I present the update :) The build was taken apart and started from scratch. My goals were to have more reliable rear suspension, stronger front suspension, v6 engine instead of R4 and realistic look (both interior and exterior) with usage of almost only technic pieces. As previous it is propelled by 2 L motors, steering by M motor - all motors have clutches, so it is RC/manual car. This was my main goal of this project. The modes are controlled by z12 bevel gears in the main console. It works very nice. HoG steering is from the dashboard. Front suspension is strengthened, it is still triple arm one - one bottom wishbone and two upper links, two shocks, ackermann steering, kingpin inclination, caster and camber. Rear suspension is Sheepo's double wishbone one - but for me it is a triple arm suspension - with two bottom arms and one upper arm. It also has two shocks. V6 engine is covered, I still have to add something to hold the cover while open. The interior is fairly detailed. Front seats backrests are adjustable, all 3 rear seats are adjustable too, the middle one have hidden armrest. The boot is pretty big. The battery box will be placed in it. The receiver is placed underneath the boot, in the place where spare tire would be placed. I have to check if it works tough :) Things left to do: - I want to have the boot cover to be opened by turning a gear. - I will try to modify the rear part to have hiding tow ball there. - Finishing the bodywork :) I loosely base on Jaguar XF.   5. Driven front axle with virtual pivot point can be made, but the kingpin axle would be too far from the wheel's axis with 42000 rims. 8484 wheels would be a bit better here. PS. Didumos69 - I am still working on my red sedan :) I will post details later today.
  6. The imaginary intersecting point is at the outside of the wheels, which is way too much.
  7. It does work with either V1 or V2 receiver. If it does not work, your M motor or receiver is broken.
  8. It won't work. Servo turns only 45 degrees in one way. So you would need to put a lot of gears before the actuator to extend it to its full length but at the same time a lot of gears mean a lot of slack and resistance.
  9. Attika, thanks for answer! Some more questions from my side: How long is the axle on this joint? Is it sufficient for standard 56 x 43 rims? How do you rate the 3d printed parts after some use? Did they handle the torque well? Whichever way you decide, either Shapeways shop or only file for printing it by your own, it would be great!

  12. I agree with Meatman. Look here: http://www.wallpaperup.com/134318/1994_Mercedes_Benz_C_AMG_DTM_W202_race_racing_engine.html Maybe it is not the same version, but the engine is behind front axle to have better mass balance. I know that 'civil' Audis have engines in front of the axle though.
  13. Black looks awesome, the best option in my opinion. I would add one or two liftarms to the doors to make them more full.

  16. Hello guys, I have a question. I was wondering whether multilink front suspension with drive can be done using Technic pieces? Has anyone tried it before? I mean something like Audi's 4 link suspension, 2 bottom and two upper links. I am familiar with Nicjasno's example without drive, but is it possible to add drive without loosing advantages like nearly perfect pivot points, scrub radius and kingpin inclination? Cheers!

According to this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5022199, when you place the gear rack in front of the front axle, steering pivot points should be further from the centerline of the car, so the lines going through them and through A arm pivot points would converge in the rear differential.

  21. I love white cars and this one is just beautiful. One question though - are you sure you have Ackerman steering there? As far as I can see, pin with towball mounted to lower A arm is inline with axle towball mounted to steering link, there is no angle between them.

  23. Sheepo used those shock absorbers in his Mustang's Macpherson suspension. His solution is much simpler.
  24. As I see it is 6 or 7 studs tall from the bottom to the top where liftarms next to changeover catches are placed. Can you confirm that? Is the yellow shock absorber part of gear changing mechanism?
