  1. Similar (perhaps same) color scheme as 9396. It will be fun to compare these two side by side. @Ngoc Nguyen, I trust we will be seeing this picture sometime in the future?
  2. Com'on guys. Lets end this take. Such a poor analysis of the build. One cannot simply look at the model, one needs to analyze it. Look at the parts, instructions, etc. Compare parts used, etc. OP has proved his point, provided this analysis, and takes like the above simply are falling short. @brunojj1compared the parts list and the instructions. See his comments above. He determined there is not much similarity other than what the OP already gave credit for.....
  3. I have not looked at the instructions, but am doing an intense side-by-side examination of the stills. I agree with @brunojj1, and I believe some of the criticism is too harsh. I also do not believe this is a MOD, but a new MOC. And kudos to @inteknik for giving proper credit. An alternative POV might be if someone goes back to redo a certain classic, and a similar solution for a look, mechanism, etc. is arrived at while TRYING to outdo it, come up with something new, etc., even with the luxury of additional time, new parts, etc. that might be considered evidence that the best solution was arrived at at the beginning! In my mind, for the back end given the OP's diligence of trying to come up with new solutions (which we have ample evidence of) he still came up with something that borrowed some elements of Jorge's model to me that is evidence of the quality of Jorge's build. So that is a good thing. Last point: when redoing a classic, b/c the classic obviously does not change there is BOUND to be some overlap, assuming that prior renditions were done with quality. For example, if someone were to try and redo the McLaren P1, he/she is BOUND to mimic at least some solutions from @brunojj1's version of it, not because of laziness or b/c the want to "steal" anything but only because @brunojj1's version is of such high quality that he may have just stumbled (with tons of talent and hard work ) upon the best possible solution for that mechanism, body area, etc. Not for the whole car obviously, there is always for improvement, but with a limited system of parts (Lego) mathematically we have to accept that there are some sections, mechanisms, etc. that really there is a perfect combination of parts for. And in time certain builders will come across such combinations. People are allowed to "borrow" such solutions and can't always be accused of stealing, being lazy, etc., b/c we are working with a system of limited parts here...
  4. Just looked. You are correct. At least in the US. But for premium price. Around 7 bucks for the blue shock, 6 for the front forks. Which I don't mind paying.... it is their product. I probably will pick some up.
  5. I hate to bring this up, but alas, I feel it necessary. Other competitors have made new, unique pieces available at a huge reduced price with little, if any, compromises on quality. I have the planetary hubs, reinforced CV steering joints, wave selector, etc. and others without the huge cost. I am keeping an eye out. I have not seen them yet, but I would not be surprised......
  6. Yup... exactly. You know, I think I kinda was too critical in the past of these "speculation" threads. But it is kinda fun. I am joining the party
  7. Different interpretation I guess. I would say the exact oppose But back to the topic... I have had to take a little break from Technic for the past while. Actually more excited for this summer round of sets. I will follow these topics with interest. I hope there is something I actually think is worth buying!
  8. Its hard to see anything here but really wish lists. But I am not immune to posting my own I am a huge fan of cranes. I never seem to tire of building new renditions. My hope is for a crawler crane with the CAT tracks....
  9. Its fun to see at least some information regarding new sets. Thanks for posting at least the introductory information. But not sure what you mean here.. TLG repeats itself all the time. Same machine, with just a little tiny twist on it...
  10. Agreed. This is terrific. Thanks for sharing!
  11. I voice what had already been mentioned. Wonderful build, love the details and stickers. Can't believe that is held by four technic lifters.
  12. I am pleased with how this project is coming along. I was able to manage finding a lights system I was happy with and how to incorporate it into the build. Took a little time, but this is what it will look like. Pleased to say this is also turning out to be one of my most enjoyable projects ever! The picture quality is not the greatest. But when this project is all done I will take some of better quality.
  13. no. I already answered this. I was referring to PF motors. I do not know about PU.
  14. PF motors. I have not played sufficiently with PU motors.
  15. Admittedly, I have not read the entire discussion. But I read enough to think that this has not been discussed yet. If it has, please ignore this comment. All the comments above appear to be concerned with how vehicles are powered by XL or L for FORWARD movement, which typically for the vehicles we are discussing involves UPHILL movement (trial trucks, rock crawlers, etc). I see no discussion about the motors and how they play a part in such vehicles as they go DOWNHILL or are involved in BRAKING. As someone who has rock-crawled in real life I can tell you that going downhill is every bit as important as going uphill. Real vehicles have brakes. For Lego Models, the motor is the brake. And sometimes the limitation of a crawler/trial truck is not insufficient power to climb up but its inability to navigate or brake going down. This may one benefit for the use of XL over L for the above reason. Not due to power per se but rather braking. I have built and experimented with many crawlers to find that the benefit of an XL over a L is in its resistance. Even if this resistance is only slightly greater than a L motor, it can save a lot of crashes.
  16. Wow. Better than the original model. AND using >90% of parts from original model. Quite the accomplishment.
  17. Well done. I think that whatever gaps you are still seeing are acceptable given the limits of Lego....
  18. Thanks! and yes... I am adding a few. Like I showed above, mostly hiding old Construx toys I had as a kid. Although I have some other hidden goodies in there as well. I hope to have the project done in a month or two.
  19. Cool model. And I also thought about it in Lego. But it has been done already. Not that it can't be done again.... https://www.brothers-brick.com/2021/11/11/soaring-over-arrakis-with-house-atreides-dunes-ornithopter-in-lego/
  20. Wow.... can't believe this thread has not been touched since JUL. Anyways... Hope everyone is having a good holiday season. Went back to my parents to visit this season. FOund my old Legos. Found bits of these little treasures in with them (not mine, pic from internet): Anyone remember Construx? From like the 80's? Fisher Price. Here are some of my old pieces- Brought back so many memories....
  21. So not sure how much interest there is out there in the project... but here are a few updates: So with more thought... this is totally doable. And I am already adding some of these. And... dare I say, what is being added is pretty cool. Not mini figs, not much into those, but something else. Unfortunately, what I am adding doesn't come without a little backstory. For this holiday season I went back home and spent time with family and friends. At my parent's home I found my old Legos and other toys. Included in them were the old Construx toys by Fisher-Price. Remember those? Well I found several of them and am incorporating them in the wall behind hidden-doors. Here is an example: Construx beam - Wall with hidden door: Slide the door and viola! Small Construx Beam: Hidden behind door. Notice how the color nearly matches. Looks pretty authentic. And the Construx holes fit perfectly into 1x1 round plates with a 4L bar doing through: Embedded behind a sliding door like this: As mentioned I also found some (not all) of my old Lego bricks. The Lego bricks were just sitting there and I decided to bring them home and use them for the backing of the wall. As I mentioned before, the majority of the wall is three studs thick (I vary the depth for contrast). At three studs there is a whole layer that really is not seen and only there for structure. So, I am building the wall with old bricks from my childhood providing the back structure. At least some of it. I had already done a large portion of the wall with other, old bricks. But pretty much the entire upper-right portion of the wall will be old bricks from my childhood! I have also found a way to incorporate lights. I will not add more pics at this point as the project is nearly done and I just want to share the whole thing altogether. Not to mention this update is already pretty picture heavy!
  22. So just got back from a cabin trip for the holidays. All my bros and sisters. Huge game room with a table tennis... table? We had a huge round robin table tennis tournament, had tons of fun. Im not great at table tennis, but I held my own. Sure could have used an invention like this though to help me prepare...
  23. Wow... this is a wonderful build to be sure. But what I love the most is that you took the time to film it with nature, in nature. If necessity is the mother of creation (as the saying goes) then mother nature, and all the odd necessities and needs she has created surely has a long and storied place of engineering history! Well done and thanks for sharing....
  24. All due respect @Lipko...I don't think you read my entire response. I specifically mentioned that my comments don't apply to poor design, or flat out design errors, which 42056, etc. all suffered from. My comments more apply to the construction of mechanisms, especially gearboxes ... where aligning axles, checking fluidity at each step, making sure liftarms don't sandwich gears too hard, etc. are the issues at play. When you have one builder saying he/she is having a problem, but another saying their works just fine, there is one exercising a little more ingenuity than the other. That is what I was speaking to.
