It was a good comment. And I stand by it. Has nothing to do with not liking the thread or anything. in fact, my comments all but support the thread... I would like to see it going! Staff or not, using pejorative language towards others is not cool. Per @Peppermint_M's own reference, the defense did not apply (stroke vs. ASD). I do apologize that I normally frequent the Technic forum and not other subforums... so I am not familiar with the main players here. I do apologize if I offended @peppermint_M - but he/she can reach out through PM if that is the case. I would be happy to discuss. I don't mean anything rude by my statement and I am sure we can clear the air. Not trying to act like staff. Not talking "down" to anyone. Truly, I mean to be friendly and my track record speaks to that. Reach out to @Jim or milan if you need context.

Sorry for double-posting... I posted this on the "review" thread when I should post it here: I am not the person to do this. I do not have the time nor do I think I am talented enough. But I would love to see a motorized or otherwise mechanized display base that when turn on/powered, cranked, etc. both separates the sectioned hulls and turns the outer hulls at a 90 degree angle so viewers can see the innards. reverse power, crank, etc. and it sets the model back intact again. That would seriously be epic. I am looking at getting this model. I may try to reach out to others on the technic forum for advice on how to perform this. I may even create a separate thread if there is sufficient interest. I know it is possible; it is just a matter of finding the right folks to collaborate with to get this done.

With all due respect, this is not a symptom of a stroke. Don't need to go into details unless you want me to. Psychiatric event, perhaps. But if you are going to try and reframe a psychiatric event as a "medical event" I find it hard not to read this as attempting to rebrand calling someone "crazy" as "oh well I was just looking out for your mental/medical health!" Don't double-down. Just don't name-call or be pejorative. The thread will retain traction if we don't

I just watched a video on the Cobi set. IMO, not much of a comparison, but I guess its all what you like. I think what is special to me is that one can separate all the hulls and see the internals. Engines, etc. That is really special to me. Something that is not an option for the Cobi set. IMO, easily worth the cost difference. As others have said, I don't give much stock in the size... in fact smaller would have been better. but the fact you can open it up and see the internals....... so very cool...

you balance your observation so I won't hit this too hard... but I am not sure I would try and define "play" - its very definition is anything but objective or definable. Most would inject its meaning a healthy dose of fun, reality-testing, and emotion. The definition of the word is not meant to be logical, restricted, reality-based or boring. There are MANY who would define "play" injected with some form of risk-taking....i.e. "gambling" if you will. In fact, a popular English phrase, at least here in the US, in terms of risk-taking is indeed "playing with our life" or "playing with fire" - i.e. "risk-taking" "playing" games, etc. all includes risk-taking and strategy.... so I am not sure your observation holds water. I have said it before and I will say it again... I think its silly to try and define for other grown men and women what it means to "play" - and all efforts to do so easily dissolve.

Part of the whole campaign of ending racism, genderism, etc. is the curtailing the use of derogatory language. To advocate for equality across gender, racial, etc. spheres but create one's own derogatory terms, sayings, "isms", etc. is both hypocritical and counterproductive. Please, for the sake of trying to enlighten others, don't stoop to the level of being derogatory simply because someone disagrees with you. It is possible to disagree with someone while simultaneously doing so in a productive, educational manner...... This thread will quickly get out of hand if we don't....

So we have the length of the model, but can I get the length between the two outermost stands? Really, to display this on a shelf the wide of the entire build is what is important, but if like on a stand or coffee table one needs this metric as well. Thanks!

Quick update: I drew up a rough sketch of what I am looking at doing. The blocked off, smaller sections will be recessed and full of greeblies, piping, etc. (See below). Very rough... but this is what I am looking at doing. A lot of it will be redundant, just because of the sheer size. But I am focusing on some creative modules as well. In fact, I think the "shooter" elements have alot of potential given that they have two of the color tones I am working with, are perfect greebling, sci-fi colors, and have steely, mechanistic patterns. Here are a few configurations I came up with. I have not seen these before, not saying they don't exist, but I have not seen them. As far as I know, they may be original. Here is the result so far. The "cracks" are not filled yet. Will be filled with the recessed greeblies....

Don't think this is much of a response. Of course folks think of this.... but after dropping 600 hundred or so bucks the last thing folks want to do is invest more of their own bricks or $$ into this thing. I actually am really excited about this build. First large set that I might get for a while. Piece of history, and I love that there are so many internal shots/details.

Wow.... this was unexpected. At least for me. I think this is new and excited. Will pay attention to this with anticipation...

I know. I might do something just like that. But with only three stud-deep offset I don't have much to work with. But it really would be cool. I like the idea of hiding a third-party lights embedded in the build like I did with my "tribute" above. But time will tell. THings moving along nicely... I will post an update hopefully this week.

Its a good thought (about the color). I guess I have a real odd fixation on my sci-fi projects. Really not into ships as much as I am in the galactic, metallic look of greebling. But white would work with the room and is a common color in some ships I really like. I will probably keep it all Light or DBG. But it is a good recommendation. For reasons specified above. Plus... these are the colors I have many pieces in from past projects. Although I will still be buying more, I do like using what I have, so coloring things is out for me.

Forgive me for the naive question, but I am making a PAB order. Everything I am looking at is Medium Stone Gray. But I am looking for light bluish gray. They look the same color. Are they?- 5,466 replies

SOrry for getting to this so late. I am just seeing it. Fortunately I do not think so. I have some gorilla double-sided tape that already is probably too strong. I took down a section, and it ripped off some of the drywall :) It is the perfect wall because the weight really sets on the moulding of the door frames. It is an older home, so these mouldings are incredibly solid. They will more than carry the weight of everything and they are very thick. If I extend the "Lego" portion of the wall out three studs they still do not extend past the moulding. For the narrow vertical sections I will use the moulding at the bottom. True they are much narrower, but that is why I have the wall tapering at the bottom with sloped bricks. Really the only issue with the weight will be with the Lego wall flopping over or something. More of an angular trajectory or something. But as far as downward weight, it is all on the mouldings. WHich I suspect is 80% of the weight or something. So far I have put up sections with minimal tape and things hold just fine. Updates this weekend.

Mocpages is not down. It is dead I have the original photos and LDD file somewhere, but it's so simple really no need to look for them. Take a look at the video if you need to: Right at the end, minute at around minute 1:41, you can see it. This part https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15100#T=C between both 1 x 11.5 bent liftarms and you are set...
