Agreed. I also think the bulkiness at the top (not at the rotor) is due to the dumb BB being housed there. If this is the case it could easily be replaced by like buwizz or something and the shape could then be improved. If this is the case, this is a day one purchase for me. Also.... wouldn't doubt if we see some great mocs in this vehicle genre from the new swashplate elements.

Seems like interest in this set is waning. Pics and updates have been on TLG site for some time now. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/airbus-h175-rescue-helicopter-42145 Given what I see (fourth pic down, not gonna bother reposting) it seems indeed, we have a somewhat accurate cyclic control. Blade pitch varies according to rotation cycle. Exciting! Also, appears there will be some form of fake engine that rotor will be connected to. I do not believe 9396 or 42052 offered this. So, even though the looks are odd, I do think this is a step in the right direction. If looks/scale accuracy can be improved, I think we may have a real winner of a set here....

anyone know the release date here? -
lol... the folks at TLG must be reading this thinking that we AFOLs are a funny bunch. We criticize the UCS cars for being "shelf-queens" - i.e. being all about the looks and having no functions. But then we get a set like this that may very well be functionally at least competent but poor in terms of looks and we gripe and gripe. I am not singling anyone out.... I share the same opinion but i am sure they look at us thinking we are quite finicky....

19: 10 24: 6 9: 4 20: 3 29: 2 26: 1 As always, great entries. I really struggled with grading some of these b/c of the exceptional quality of each entry. That being said, at least for me, when all else is equal or close to, I will always chose the one with a video. How can one really know how well a build functions w/o a video? Folks should remember this when entering into these contests....

I third pretty much everything @gyenesvi said. In fact, here is an interesting observation..... I guess its hard for TLG to approach their UCS cars as anything other than simply sensationalist, good-looking, nontechnical self queens when we kinda do the same thing. Get a good-looking, but technically uninteresting build and slap it on the frontpage. Kinda surprised about the choice on that. About the build. Looks great. Seems fast, but for a trophy truck why not at least film it driving, I dunno, off-road? I mean, there is one shot, from a distance, of it going off like one step and then nothing. Other than that all we have is it going straight, on finished surface. Would also be nice to have details of the build, some internals, pics of drivetrain, etc. If fact, one could really question the post....period. Aren't we supposed to refrain from posts that are more than a mere solicitation? Although there are some details of the build, each detail just looks like another ad. -
Not angry anymore about set prices, lack of quality, etc. but I admit I am saddened. I always really enjoyed a large set or two each year. Something about opening it, building, etc. *sigh* I am afraid my days of buying and building official sets are over. I may get one here or there, but it has been years since I bought and built one, and looks like this year may be the same. I will still MOC with the collection I have, but buying official sets is making less and less sense to me with each passing year.

I am not sure that information exists. I don't think I have ever seen a breakdown of piece count by bag/box. Not sure why it would matter.

And the slope in TLG model is uniform. More or less. In the real bird, as you posted, the nose slope is rather mild, with steep windshield slope, then back to mild slope above the windshield, more or less the same as the nose. But TLG is fairly uniform. At least from the side view. Though this may not look as bad from different angles. Looks like they tried to mitigate this with the white panels right above the windshield, but I am afraid it really doesn't work.

Exactly. Here is a thought. Employ color vomit to increase building ease, but also increase instruction errors to decrease building ease. Brilliant TLG. Only the best will do Lego. Only the best. Really don't care about the costs of these UCS cars, but the cost in conjunction with what appears to be sloppy and rushed development and release. IMHO, kinda unacceptable.
