  1. Thanks guys! Totally agree about the axles, they will wear out. Looking forward to the end result you come up with. Thanks for the encouragement, I am glad you liked it! I try to improve each time I make a video, but I still have a long way to go... There are plenty of other AFOLs like you who show me there is still a lot room for improvement.
  2. Well, quite a lot depends on the force you need. There is a relation between the buildup elastic force and the amount of throws per second. If you need fairly little force, a modification of Sariel's mechanism (the one with the single large spring) seems the most likely candidate. If you need a stronger mechanism then I don't think any of the mechanisms I have experience with will suit. Stronger mechanisms generally work too slow to get 1 throw per second. They need more time to buildup the required force. Although you could think about gearing down Sariel's mechanism with a strong spring and then have several of those mechanisms operate in sequence. A bit like how Samolot's massive launch system works: I am mentioning the spring powered mechanism because it seems relatively straightforward to transfer the power from the spring to the balls. Although I have to say, I have zero experience with GBCs. I always watch them in amazement and I am sure they have their own set of difficulties that I know nothing about.
  3. Thanks for the great comments guys. The program I used to make the 3d logo animation was Aurora 3D Animation Maker. It was the first time I used a program to make a 3D animation and it was fairly easy. It took me about one hour to grasp how the software worked and then another hour to make the animation. Before I also tried using Adobe After Effects, but the learning curve was too steep for me; I wanted to finish the video, not spend days learning a new program.
  4. This is a video about automatic LEGO shooting mechanisms. I should warn you, some of it is pretty basic stuff, and probably not very interesting for the typical AFOL. However some of you may still like it. I made the video because my most asked questions on youtube are about shooting mechanisms. So I thought I best make a video about it, that tries to answer most of those questions. I hope you like it.
  5. Love both the photography and the tram itself
  6. The level of realism is just amazing. More than once I had to convince myself that I was not looking at the real thing. Also really dig the camera work in the video. Big kudos!
  7. At the moment I am working on a video about LEGO shooting mechanisms, which shoot be done in a couple of days. After that my focus will be the Mark 7, Already done some work on that, but a lot still needs to be done... Probably at least a couple of months till that gets finished. ~I spend too little time playing with LEGO, all those nasty reallife obligations get in the way...~
  8. The video is really quite awesome :). Really like the camera work and special effects of the video. Like the little MOC as well, it has style.
  9. Perhaps they should rename the Droste effect to the Liebherr effect...
  10. Ziet er weer misselijkmakend mooi uit. (Translated) Looks stunningly beautiful.
  11. Thanks D3K and Tommy! I was looking for the bottom one. And thanks to the moderator who fixed the topic of this post.
  12. Hey guys, I need some help finding a MOC posted several months back. It was a universal tank chassis in green and the builder made some equipment to mount on it, one of those looked a bit like a Stalin's organ. You could help me a lot if you could either link to that post or name the builder. Thanks for reading. p.s. sorry, forgot to name the topic properly and unfortunately there is no way to edit it after posting.
  13. Stunning model, awesome amount of functions, love it!
  14. Awesome piece of work. Great looking T29. Love the mechanism behind the machinegun, so elegant.
  15. This tank chassis by Mahj is the most compact one that I know of from the top of my head: It should be possible to make it even narrower by placeing the motors in one line with their butts touching, instead of side by side as in this video.
  16. Well, I bought some suitable material, I am not sure what the English name is, in the Netherlands we call it 'parachute stof'. Then I made a sail-plan and handed the design and the fabric to my mother and after a couple of days of waiting, ~Pooooof~ some sails magically appeared. What would we do without mothers :)
  17. Never found building instructions much of a challenge. I have always found that LEGO building instructions leave little to no room for ambiguity. However the story is totally different when I started building my own technic MOCs with complex mechanisms. Some intricate mechanisms can take me hours, days or even weeks till I get the design right (or right enough, perfection doesn't exist).
  18. If you are interested you can find some pretty high res pictures on my flickr account: (the bottom ones are the most recent).I really like that land-yacht idea of yours. In fact thinking about that, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it turned out that a LEGO land-yacht will beat the speed of any e-motor driven LEGO vehicle given the right design and weather conditions.
  19. Thanks. Indeed a keelboat would be very cool :). Monohulls are of course the quintessential sailboat. I primarily chose for a trimaran because I wanted to take it out on a lake and wanted to have a very stable platform. With all the PF-stuff on board, capsizing or taking on water would be a really bad thing. Btw, did you see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F1UntzUgJs. It's perhaps a little more like what you are planning to do.
  20. Thanks for the headsup Jay. Great minds think alike ;). Just like you I think LEGO Technic and sailboats are a solid match. I would love to see a LEGO Ideas set emerge. I tried to enter my MOC on LEGO Ideas but it was rejected because it contains non-LEGO elements: the sails. I have looked at the LEGO inventory but I couldn't find a LEGO part that would work well as a sail. To be honest, for a sailboat to work properly, you need some actual sails made from suited material. I am still working on improving the design and I also have plans for building different kinds of sailboats. It's lovely to see sailing LEGO :):
  21. Been seeing you work on this one for a long time. It turned out great!
  22. Good work dude and welcome to EB!
