  1. Wow, I love the lush look of this build. The road is well textured and, as usual, I enjoy your penchant for irregular bases. Great work LJ!
  2. The ruins look great and the lighting is rather atmospheric! Gives the look of a dawn assassination.
  3. Thanks guys! Thanks for catching that guys, and Ska for fixing it!
  4. It had not taken Meh'nak long to clear his first objective. The few lightly armed soldiers guarding the aqueduct were quickly defeated. Two fled the moment they saw Meh'nak and his Kaliphlin mercenaries approach, no doubt to tell their commander that an entire army had attacked the aqueduct. Meh'nak and his few men had no time to enjoy their quick victory however; the group had to press the advantage while it could. The Desert King had sent a larger force behind Meh'nak to occupy the aqueduct in case the High Council forces mustered a counterattack. Meh'nak initially had doubts to the wisdom of using mercenary forces, but they had fought well. Besides, he had been sent out ahead of the main army and needed whatever swordarms he could find. Meh'nek turned to the mercenary leader, a southern Kaliphlin named Abd-al-Malik. "Your men proved themselves well today, Malik. You should know the Desert King rewards richly those who serve his will." Meh'nak produced a small bag weighted heavily with gold and handed it to Malik. Malik threw the bag to one of his men. "This may sound strange coming from an old mercenary like me, but this war is about more than gold. Kaliphlin needs a strong leader, one who will return Kaliphlin to its former glory. Our traditions are gone and replaced with the decadence and apostasy of those who rule us from inside their cities. The Desert King is the only rightful heir to Kaliphlin!" Meh'nak nodded. "Yes, and all the false rulers of Kaliphlin will not be able to stop his ascension - it is foretold by prophecy! Malik, no doubt you will have a favored spot in his court if you continue to serve him. The aqueduct is just the first step. We cannot let the people of Kaliphlin go thirsty in these difficult times. They must be shown that the Desert King is fighting for them, while those in Ulandus and the High Council lust for power solely to enrich themselves." One of Malik's men walked by, prodding along a soldier captured at the aqueduct. Meh'nak glared at the prisoner. "He will be taken back to the Desert King. His allegiance will change, or his mind and body will break. That is the power of the Desert King!" ------------------------------------------------ A full shot of the MOC: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, thanks for looking! This is my first entry for the Kaliphlin Civil War challenge. This is a very straightforward aqueduct design, built right into a mountainside to divert a tributary to the Qar Ahken River. Thanks for looking, feedback always welcome!
  5. A superb build, Ruadh is certainly becoming a city of beauty and wonder! If so much artistic endeavor went into the kennel, I can barely imagine what styles the main buildings of the city have crafted! The Bellville pups look good here, as does the landscaping. Nice work!
  6. Another sweet build and nicely photographed! Such an ominous scene, the frozen victims and ice spikes are fantastic touches. What a rough looking bunch, I hope you Mitgards keep them there! Well put! Historica is certainly built upon the bones of all those who have fought to control it.
  7. The nice river and palm next to the blood and severed heads makes for quite the juxtaposition! This is a great scene, the aqueduct system is an excellent and practical idea. The Nocturnian resistance has to note the effectiveness and ferocity of the Yukar clansmen. Perhaps they can be convinced to return to Nocturnus once the Kaliphlin troubles are solved and join the fight against the Spire?
  8. Nice build, the bank looks good and that tree design is really interesting. Good entry!
  9. Stunning build Blufiji, such an amazing take on the Nocty landscape. The wintery landscape and ice is so well done it gives me chills! I love the angled portions of the cliffside, I know that can't have been the easiest thing to do. The frozen waterfall looks fantastic as well, the little patches of snow is a great touch. The outpost and starry photo are excellent as well. Really glad you joined Nocturnus my friend!
  10. Hmm... the mountain mummies don't seem to be a huge hit so I suppose I shall join that side. The Ulandians' harsh trade measures would surely result in war with Nocturnus anyways. The High Council doesn't seem the most sound choice either - it's indecisiveness will end only when it is too late and all of Kaliphlin has become a battlefield. A strong Kaliphlin needs a strong ruler, one like the Desert King.
  11. Lovely mosaic, really great idea there! Nice little room too, I hope you'll be able to one day expand your headquarters and show us the might of your character!
  12. Fantastic sculpting on this beast Infernum, you are really becoming quite good at these critters! Love how you simulated the muscles and other skin features on this dragon. The head in particular is very well done. Great backstory too.
  13. I love that Historica emblem, you print that yourself?
  14. A nice little build, elegant in its simplicity. The story is also interesting. I think the patch wouldn't look bad as is if you build up the landscaping (grass, rocks and what have you) on the other side of it. Anyways, nice build!
  15. Looks like a fun build indeed, love the colors and composure of this build! Rather brave use of colors I must say. At first I thought this was a Mitgardian build and couldn't believe something so... glitzy would be built there. But then I saw it was in Avalonia, and everything made sense! The interior scenes look great too, especially the cave/potion room. Certainly a unique and clever build!
  16. Lovely rocks and photography, and a very well put together scene. The flotsam/debris/bodies in the water really helps portray the savagery of this event. Still really enjoying where this story is going, so many sides and developments... this will certainly make for some fun building!
  17. Interesting build and great story, the star effect looks awesome too!
  18. Lovely building, the interior and exterior details are all quite nice. The spa is a great touch, but those elegant little balconies are probably my favorite part of this build.
  19. Thanks again everyone! Thanks NM, it seems the Black Spire never sits idly by! I'm glad it does not appear as if we're trying to steal the show. It's been a lot of fun keeping this story going. There will be much more before the civil war swings back to Nocty! Thanks Sarah, glad you liked it! I've actually done a number of interior builds for this ongoing storyline. Here's a few if you're interested (some of the story pics have been removed but the full MOC pics are still there): Summit at Lagash Ur and part II The Gathering Storm Haha, thanks Robin. That picture is actually supposed to show Lord Vladivus giving food to the children in his city. You know, to show there's still something nice in that undead heart of his.
  20. Lovely build and a great tangent for the story. Always love to see how these chaotic moments affect the common people in the guilds. The lineup of worried Barqa residents is a great touch.
  21. Excellent Shadowmere build Jorrith, especially considering the time frame! The various wall details give this build a really nice look, perfect for Shadowmere! Love how Nocturnus is tied into the chaos in Kaliphlin, really puts things in a bigger perspective. Though I worry what new troubles these tidings will bring to the Darklands... New allies are sorely needed for the fight against Raavage, but the history of foreign intervention in Nocturnus is not a good one!
  22. Wonderful, this story is developing awesomely. This Rejoining seems to have some ominous undertones. Not sure how much to trust those Ulandians just yet!
  23. Love how this story is getting fleshed out, and I'm really enjoying the presentation too. Really wonder where this is going. We build too many walls, and not enough bridges!
  24. Fascinating story and action shots, the photography does a wonderful job conveying this chaotic situation. Such a terrible time for these lovely lands!
  25. Great work Little John, it's awesome to see you jumping straight into the mix! You've certainly made a nice contribution in just your first few weeks around here. Anyways, the build is quite lovely. The snotted water section looks great and the border is quite nifty. Great landscaping too. Sweet idea using those brown flower petals for a palm trunk! My only suggestion here is pointed at the photography. The lighting looks perfect, but on each of the photos there seems to be a blurry spot here or there. That can be easily fixed by setting your camera's f-stop (aperture) to a higher number and getting a wider depth of field. You'll most likely need a tripod or some other camera support to do that. In any case, a small nitpick for a great build!
